SHEET 10F 2 MACHINE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TUBING The present invention relates to a machine for producing protective flexible tubing from a profiled, helically wound strip.
It is one object of the present invention to provide a machine for producing protective flexible tubing the manufacture of which is simplified and the output of which is improved.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a machine for producing protective flexible tubing which comprises a pair of driven profiling rollers arranged after a strip guide and for pre-profiling the strip, a driven plane profile plate which finish-profiles the strip together with one of the profiling rollers, a freely rotating winding mandrel to which the profiled strip is fed after being deflected by the plane profile plate, and a driven winding roller co-operating with the winding mandrel.
The angle of deflection of the profiled strip by the plane profile plate, which is preferably arranged horizontally, is 270'. According to the present invention, in order to prevent changes in profile during the deflection, correcting rollers are arranged at the side of and above the plane profile plate, the correcting rollers guiding the profiled strip during the. deflection thereof. Moreover, a profile lifter is arranged between the plane profile plate and the winding mandrel.
It is still another object of the present invention, wherein the profiling rollers, the plane profile plate, the correcting rollers, the profile lifter and the winding roller are adjustable for the purpose of adaptation to dilTerent diameters of protective flexible tubing. Scales may be provided as an aid to adjustment.
In the production of protective tubing with the machine according to the present invention, any deformation of the profile is avoided with certainty, as a result of which faultless manufacture is possible.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention will be readily understood in connection with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a schematic side elevation of the machine designed in accordance with the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a top plan view thereof; and
FIG. 3 is an end view in the direction opposite to the direction of production.
Referring now to the drawings, a raw strip for producing a protective flexible tubing runs from a horizontal supply device (not shown) mounted fixedly on the machine over suitable guide rollers, over a limit switch (not shown), thereafter through a washing and lubricating bath and then through a laterally adjustable strip guide 1 to driven profiling rollers 2 and 3. The semi-profile or semi-section which is formed here is now guided round the profiling roller 3 and conveyed to a plane profile plate 4 arranged below the profiling roller 3 and cooperating therewith. The profile of the strip is finished between the profiling roller 3 and the plane profile plate 4.
The fully profiled strip is now deflected by the plane profile plate 4, preferably through 270, a correcting roller 5 preventing any deformation of the profile from the side and a correcting roller 6 preventing any deformation from above. The profiled strip finally reaches a profile lifter 7 and is fed thereby to a freely rotating winding mandrel 8. Above the winding mandrel 8 there is provided a driven winding roller 9, which seizes the profiled strip and, in co-operation with the plane profile plate 4, carries out the winding of the protective flexible tubing about the winding mandrel 8. The latter serves then exclusively as a caliber for the determination of the tubing.
The finished flexible tubing runs from the winding mandrel 8 by way of a bent tube to a receiving drum rotating about a vertical axis at the speed of the tube. These details are not shown.
The end of the strip delivered from the supply device of the machine actuates the limit switch hereinbefore mentioned,
which stops the machine before the end of the strip enters the strip guide 1. Tins end of the strip IS joined to the beginning of the next strip, for example by spot welding, and the machine can then be started again without any further manipulation.
A counting device is moreover installed in the machine and this device measures the length of raw strip worked up at any given time and actuates through a stop a limit switch, which stops the machine at the receiving drum after a desired length of flexible tubing has been produced. It is thereby possible to stop the machine from time to time, for instance, after producing 25 or 50 meters lengths of protective flexible tubing.
The winding mandrel 8 can be exchanged, so as to enable protective flexible tubings of different diameters to be produced with the machine. Moreover, for the purpose of adaptation to difierent diameters, the strip guide 1, the profiling rollers 2 and 3, the plane profile plate 4, the correcting rollers 5 and 6, the profile lifter 7 and the winding rollers 9 are adjustable, setting scales being provided for facilitating adjustment.
The details of the machine according to the present invention, which have been described and illustrated, serve only to explain the essence of the present invention, without restricting the same. The machine according to the present invention can be employed for any desired cross-sections and also for different materials.
While I have disclosed one embodiment of the present invention, it is to be understood that this embodiment is given by example only and not in a limiting sense.
