DEVICE FOR BORING TRENCI-I SI-IAFTS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to devices for trench digging and more particularly to devices of the above type in which the trenches are dug by means of a drill tool movably associated with a guide installed in a preadvanced shaft and suspended to the frame of a drill cat.
Known in the art are devices for making trenches in which the guide is freely suspended from the boom of the drill cat but such devices are disadvantageous in that they require the guide to be raised each time to the surface for boring a subsequent shaft.
This disadvantage means that when boring shafts deeper than m., additional time must be spent for dismantling the guide when raising it to the surface and for assembling the guide when lowering into the shaft.
Also known in the art are devices for making trenches which operate by rotary boring. In this case drilling rods are equipped with cutters which, when rotating destroy the rock within the cutter width. A disadvantage of these devices lies in a limited depth to the trench being made due to the considerable bending moment arising in the rod.
It is also known in the art to provide devices for making trenches by a method of producing overlapping shafts, with the working member thereof being a clamshell. These lastmentioned devices are disadvantages in that separate shafts happen to be substantially nonparallel, so that the bottom of the trench is liable to be discontinuous. Moreover, these devices are slow in making trenches.
It is an object of the present invention to eliminate said disadvantages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION To accomplish the above and other important objects, the invention comprehends a trench forming device in which a drill tool is movably associated with a guide installed in a preadvanced shaft and suspended to a drill cat frame, with the guide having its upperportion connected with the drill cat via a link and the bottom portion being provided with a pilot member which is extensible in the direction of digging.
The pilot member is controlled by means of a leverage system composed of two articulated levers, one of which levers is mounted for free vertical travel, with the bottom free end of such lever being capable of thrusting against the trench bottom, and the other lever to which the pilot member is rigidly connected, being capable of pivoting about a fixed pin mounted on the guide.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will become more readily apparent from the following description na accompanying drawings of an exemplary embodiment and in which drawings:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a general diagrammatic view of a device for boring trench shafts, according to the invention; and
FIG. 2 is a fragmentary view partly in elevation and partly in cross section of a leverage system for controlling the pilot member the view being on an enlarged scale.
The device of the present invention comprises a drill cat I having a boom 2, and a guide 3 is suspended from the boom. The guide is made as a drilling-mud pipe and accommodates an air duct 4 (FIG. 2). A drill tool 5 is also suspended from the boom 2 by means of a cable 6 and travels along the guide 3.
In its upper portion, the guide 3 is connected by means of a link 7 (FIG. 1) with the frame of the drill cat I. In its bottom portion, the guide 3 is provided with an extensible pilot member 8 (FIG. 2) which is controlled by a leverage system 9. The leverage system consists of two levers I0 and 1! (FIG. 2) which are interconnected by a hinge joint 12. The lever 10 can travel freely inside the guide 3 in'a vertical direction, and its lower free end can extend beyond the guide 3 and be thrust against the trench bottom. One end of the lever I0 is capable o pivoting about a fixed pin 13, and the pilot member 8 IS rigidly connected to the same end of the lever 10.
The device operates as follows;
When the drill cat 1 has approached the working site, the guide 3 is suspended from the boom 2, and the drill tool 5 is rigidly fixed to the lower end of the guide 3. The boring of the first shaft of the trench is started until the specified depth thereof is reached, with the guide 3 being gradually elongated, and the muck is lifted from the drill tool 5 towards the receiving end of the drilling-mud pipe and further along the pipe it is entrained to the surface. On completion of boring the first shaft and upon reaching the specified depth of the trench, the guide 3 together with the drill tool 5 is lifted to the surface, after which it is sunk again into the bore shaft but this time without the drill tool.
The drill tool 5 is suspended from the boom 2 by means of the cable 6 and the trench boring process is started by moving the drill tool 5 downwardly along the guide 3.
The subsequent shafts are bored without lifting the guide 3 to the surface since it is merely necessary to move the drill cat 1 in the direction of trenching, and this is possible due to the fact that the upper portion of the guide 3 is rigidly connected with the frame of the drill cat 1. The distance of travel of the drill cat 1 is preset by the extensible pilot member 8.
Prior to each travel of the drill cat I the guide 3 is lifted somewhat, and the pilot member 8, due to the displacement of the leverage system 9 by gravity, is extended. The drill cat I moves until the pilot member 8 encounters the face wall of the trench being cut and upon the drill cat being stopped, the guide 3 is placed onto the trench bottom.
By reason of the weight of the guide 3, the leverage 9 is urged upwardly, and the pilot member 8 is retracted within the guide 3 thus creating a free working zone for the drill tool 5.
The subsequent shafts are bored in a similar manner and each subsequent shaft is bored precisely parallel to the preceding one.
What is claimed is:
l. A device for boring trench shafts comprising: a drill cat; a frame for said drill cat; a boom on said frame; a guide suspended from said boom, means rigidly connecting the upper end of the guide with the frame of said drill cat; a pilot member extensible in the direction of trenching and means mounting the pilot member on the lower end of said guide.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1 in which means are provided for controlling the pilot member said controlling means including two articulated levers, one of said levers being arranged for free vertical travel, the lower free end of said one lever being capable of thrusting against the trench bottom, and the other of said levers to which said pilot member is rigidly connected, being capable of pivoting about a fixed pin mounted on the guide.

Claims (2)

1. A device for boring trench shafts comprising: a drill cat; a frame for said drill cat; a boom on said frame; a guide suspended from said boom, means rigidly connecting the upper end of the guide with the frame of said drill cat; a pilot member extensible in the direction of trenching and means mounting the pilot member on the lower end of said guide.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1 in which means are provided for controlling the pilot member said controlling means including two articulated levers, one of said levers being arranged for free vertical travel, the lower free end of said one lever being capable of thrusting against the trench bottom, and the other of said levers to which said pilot member is rigidly connected, being capable of pivoting about a fixed pin mounted on the guide.
