  • a pair of oppositely disposed recesses 86, 88 are shown as being provided for receiving the end portions 30, 32 of the magazine 12.
  • Each recess is a mirror image of the other, and includes a rearwardly facing supporting surface 90, 92, for receiving the forwardly facing portions 36, 38 of the magazine 12, and a pair of side surfaces 94, 96, which taper very slightly inwardly toward the rear thereof.
  • the stop edge guides 98 may be slightly inclined or beveled, as shown, to securely engage a complementary shaped, tapered portion of the side of the magazine, and to facilitate guiding the magazine 12 into place within the holder -14.
  • a magazine 12 will be supported in place within the guard 14 by engagement between either end portion 30, 32 of the cartridge 12 and the various surfaces defining the recess 86, 88 all of which comprise means for holding the cartridge in a snug relation partially within the guard 14.
  • the rear surface 106 of the top wall 52 is generally parallel to the surfaces 90, 92 for supporting the magazine ends 30, 32, but the surface 106 is spaced apart from both the rear surface 50 of the wall 46 and the supporting surfaces 90, 92.
