The clearer tube is provided on the inside with teeth sloping in the direction of its outlet, while the clearer rod is provided with transverse projections, which move in the spaces between the teeth.

ABSTRACT: In order to extract thread wastes in connection with a loom winder monnted on a 100m, a clearer tube is provided into and out of which a clearer rod is moved. The clearer tube is provided on the inside with teeth sloping in the direction of its outlet, while the clearer rod is provided with transverse projections, which move in the spaces between the teeth.

ATTORNEY DEVICE FOR EXTRACTING UN IFIL THREAD WASTE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION l. Field of the Invention I The invention relates to a mechanism for extracting thread wastes in connection with a loom winder.
2. The Prior Art Thread clearers are known which comprise a tube and a rod which is moved into and out of the tube.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the present invention, a thread clearer is composed of a tube and a rod which moves into and out of the tube. The tube has on its interior points or hooklike projections sloping in the direction towards the tube outlet. The rod has transverse projections therefrom which move in the spaces between the teeth. Such an arrangement is much more effective in performing its clearing function and in preventing possible clogging of the tube.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention will be more fully understood from the accompanying drawings in which:

FIG. 3 shows the rod in side elevation; FIG. 4 shows the rod from the left hand end of FIGS. 2 and FIG. 5 shows the assembly of the tube and rod in enlarged view;
FIG. 6 shows the tube in longitudinal cross section, and;
FIG. 7 shows an end view of the tube.
Referring to the drawings, a clearer tube 2 mounted on the frame of the loom is connected at its outlet (or left-hand end) to a drop tube 4. Above this tube is a thread guide 6 (indicated only diagrammatically in FIG. 5) for the purpose of guiding into the path of the clearer rod thread which may fall towards the top of the tube 2. The clearer rod 8 is connected as indicated to the lay of the loom, and is reciprocated back and forth in the clearer tube 2. Such an arrangement is known in the Unifil loom winder, produced by Lesonna Corporation.
According to the present invention, there are provided on the inside of the tube 2 teeth 10, 12 and 14, which are arranged in rows angularly spaced around the axis of the tube as shown in FIG. 7, the teeth 12 and 14 being close together than the spaces between these teeth and the teeth 10.
The teeth 10, 12 and 14 slope towards the outlet or lefthand end of the tube 4.
The rod 8 carries a plurality of projecting pins 16, at the bottom and at each side. It has at its right-hand or outer end a hook 18 for connection to a pin operated by the lay of the loom. The pins 16 are preferably perpendicular to the rod 8, or at least angle a on the outlet side of the pins is not substantially greater than a right angle. The pins 16 are arranged in rows and moved between the rows of hooks l0, l2 and I4.
In the operation of the device, as the clearer rod moves in it pushes the tiller thread into the clearer tube. As the rod moves out the spikes in the clearer tube hold the filler thread. As this is repeated the thread is gradually pushed out of the tiller tube into the drop tube. The thread falls from the drop tube into a receptacle.
I claim:
l. A device for extracting thread wastes comprising a tube having inlet and outlet ends, a carrier rod slidable into and out of said tube through the inlet end thereof, said tube having spikes on the inner wall thereof sloping towards the outlet end and said carrier rod having pins projecting therefrom, the angle between said pins and the longitudinal axis of the rod on the side of the pin facing the outlet being not more than about between the rows of teeth during in and out movement of the clearer rod.

Claims (2)

1. A device for extracting thread wastes comprising a tube having inlet and outlet ends, a carrier rod slidable into and out of said tube through the inlet end thereof, said tube having spikes on the inner wall thereof sloping towards the outlet end and said carrier rod having pins projecting therefrom, the angle between said pins and the longitudinal axis of the rod on the side of the pin facing the outlet being not more than about 90*.
2. A device as claimed in claim 1 in which the spikes comprise a plurality of longitudinally extending rows of teeth on the interior of the tube and the pins comprise a plurality of rows of pins on the clearer rod, the pins moving in the spaces between the rows of teeth during in and out movement of the clearer rod.
