Abstract

A paper supporting clamp 17 best shown in FIG. 2 is hingedly mounted on a flat paper receiving surface 3 by knuckle portions 61, 62 and 72. The clamp has an arcuate centrally recessed portion 65 adapted to receive a curled over edge of a sheet of paper. Free edge 66 of the clamp is undercut at 68 to provide a finger engageable end portion to facilitate opening of the clamp to release paper engaged thereby. Indented finger engageable portions 40 and 44 are provided and an opening to facilitate viewing of clamped paper is provided.

INVENTOR. THOMAS P. O'DONN EL L ATTACI'IABLY ADAPTED CLAMP AND WRITING PLATFORM THEREFOR SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This application is a continuation-in-part of application Ser. No. 472,950, filed July I9, 1965, and issued into US. Pat. No. 3,423,798 on Jan. 28, 1969. v
In an article of manufacture, this invention, and a modification thereof, shown herein, relates to a new, novel and useful improvement in a clamping device, of a paper supporting surface to be adapted in a portion thereof for attaching with a structure for supporting it as a said paper supporting writing surface of a desk, table, shelf and the like.
This clamping device comprises a paper supporting surface which is called a shelf hereinafter for brevity sake, and a clamp plate member which is called a clamp hereinafter for brevity sake.
Said shelf comprises a panellike thickness, having a smooth top surface for using as a background for placing a sheet of paper thereon for writing thereon. And instant shelf comprises also a hingelike knuckle element fianging upwardly from each of a pair of endwise straightly aligned portions of said top surface thereof, so that there is an empty space between said knuckle elements, and so that said knuckle elements divide a first work portion which can comprise instant shelf from a second work portion thereof. A said first and a said second work portion each can comprise a clampable portion and an unclampable portion, as shown.
An edge portion of a said shelf can form either downwardly or upwardly relative thereto, whenever desired, into its flange. A bottom portion of said shelf, or/and a portion of its flange, can be adapted for being used in a said attachment for attaching instant shelf with a means for supporting it a distance above a floor and the like, as an example a structure having legs, and a wall structure in particular meaning a wall inside of a telephone booth, so that a said shelf-can be used as a paper supporting writing surface therewith, and with a clamp clampable on top of said paper supporting writing surface.
Instant article said clamp comprises a panellike thickness having a boxlike shape comprising a clamping down, portion comprising an overall flat topable bottom and bottomable top, and each of two opposite sides thereof which overall angle into an arcuately shaped rear portion thereof, which comprises a central portion comprising a hingelike knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying in the plane thereof.

And a border top portion at an opposite corner thereof is indented forming an upside down second finger engageable element thereat compared with said first thereof.
Said hingelike knuckle element of said shelf and of instant clamp being apertured, and aligned, for attaching together by using a pintle and the like therein, for attaching said clamp with and on top of said shelf forming a said article; in which said flat topable bottom thereof raiseably clamps down or lays down on top of a portion for it of said first work portion of said shelf at a side of said knuckle elements, thereby locating said clamp, for a hereinafter said first using thereofthereat;
and so that a front portion of said attached together knuckle elements at a rear inside of said article becomes a paper engageable stop structure for engaging an edge of a sheet or sheets of paper removably inserted therein for thereby said stopping a said sheet of paper entry further therein;
and so that an opening forms between said shelf and said upright first finger engageable element for removably placing a fingertip ofa hand therein for hingewisely clampably raising said clamp from said shelf and for turning said clamp so that said flat bottomable top thereof is now at a bottom thereof and raiseably clamps down on top of a portion for it of said second work portion at an opposite side of said knuckles, thereby locating said clamp for a hereinafter said second using thereof,
gewis ely raising said clamp and oppositely turning it so that again said flat topable bottom is bottommost and raiseably clamps down on top of a portion of said first work portion of instant shelf for it as said.
Said first and second paper engageable stop knuckles structure also can be used as a guide for positioning a sheet of paper in said article and along said paper supporting surface thereof.
A said first and second using of a said clamp of a said article involves a using of one hand thereby the other hand can removably place a portion of a sheet of paper into an article to an extent limited by a said paper engageable stop structure at a rear inside of said article; in a said first and second work position of said clamp and shelf. A raised clamp can be unfingered for allowing said clamp to clamp or lay down on a first portion of a said sheet of paper laying on said clampable portion of said shelf so that an unclamped portion of. said sheet positions extending therefrom in a firm position along and on top of said unclampable portion of instant shelf, thereby free ing both hands for handling one to a plurality of foreign objects at least related to writing or reading characters on said unclamped portion of said sheet, as an example, a writing instrument, and a telephone.
A said modification shows a said shelf comprising a selectable portion shown as'a rear portion thereof for comprising an apertured knuckle element projecting upwardly therefrom and lying in a plane parallelly thereabove, for said attaching therewith an apertured knuckle element of a clamp meant herein which can clamp down on top of a said selected clampable portion for it at a front of its shelf.
And a modification of an above-said clamp comprises a said clamping portion comprising a portion comprising an opening therethrough. Said clamping portion clamps down on a portion of a foreign object sheet of paper clamped on a shelf as said, and said opening portion therethrough reveals a portion of said sheet of paper, for writing and reading characters thereon;
And another modified clamp, being useable with a shelf meant herein, comprises a central portion comprising a concavely-arcuate shape. Instant modification being useable as above-said and in addition, a curl of a top sheet of paper topwise attached with and curled over a top of a bottom sheet is preserved between instant clamp and its shelf positioned beneath said concavely arcuate-shaped central portion of instant clamp, as another portion of said bottom sheet between instant clamp and shelf is clamped down on as another unclamped portion extends therefrom on said shelf. A said opening can be formed through a portion of instant clamp too.
A clamping device meant herein can be planned so that a size of a clamp relates to a size of a shelf so that when they are attached together as above-said said clamp clamps down on top of a selected in size portion for it of its shelf leaving a selected in size portion of said shelf unclamped for being used as a said background for a sheet of paper, having in mind a size of a sheet of paper, and a clampable, and an unclampable portion thereof. A knuckle can have any size and shape.

DESCRIPTION said FIG. 1 shows a table 1 comprising a said paper supporting surface top portion called a shelf 2 herein as said, which is made for at least comprising a solid panellike thickness comprising edge portions 2a surrounding it, into one of which an opening or screwhole 56 is formed as an example of a number thereof for being aligned with screwholes for them in a wall means 99 such as is shown in FIG. 2, for screwwise attaching them together so that thereby said wall means 99 supports said shelf 2 a useable distance above a floor 52. And said shelf 2 comprises a top surface 3 being smoothly finished for being a said background for removably placing a said sheet of paper 51 thereon for at least writing thereon, and a portion of its bottom 4 at each of the four corners thereof is adapted for attaching it with a legs 5 structure said means for supporting it a distance above a portion of a floor 52 broken away from a wholeness thereof, two of four legs of which being shown, a suitable portion of each being broken away for 103 a said attachment thereat as an example thereof, and wherein a gluing mixture 6 is applied; into an opening 8 for it in a portion of a top end of said leg 5 means so that an end portion ofa dowel 7 is attached therein, and; into an opening 10 for it in a portion of said bottom 4 of said shelf 2 so that an opposite end portion of said dowel 7 is attached therein for attaching them together. And unseen portions of said legs means 5 and of an ordinary shelf 50 are adapted for being used for attaching them together for removably placing a supply of sheets of said paper 51 on said shelf 50 for being used with said table 1 and a herein invention of a clamping device therefor. And said shelf 2 comprises, each of a pair of circularly shaped said knuckle elements 11 and 12 with an exampled circularly shaped opening or aperture 13 therethrough, flanging upwardly from each of a pair of endwise empty spaced apart said straightly aligned portions thereof, so that there is an empty space 14 between adjacent ends of said knuckle elements 11 and 12, and so that there is a first work portion 15 of said top surface 3 on a side thereof, and a second work portion 16 at an opposite side thereof. And a said clamping plate second part 17 thereof comprises a said solid panellike thickness and said preferred boxlike rectangularly shape comprising at least said integral bottom 24 and top surfaces comprising said flat front 18 angling into an overall flat topable bottom 19 and bottomable top 20, and each of said two opposite sides 21 and 22 thereof which angle into an arcuately shaped rear 23 thereof which comprises a central portion comprising a circularly shaped knuckle element 36 with an unseen said exampled circularly shaped opening or aperture 13 therethrough projecting therefrom for being overall hingedly endwise aligned in said empty space 14, between and with, said endwise straightly aligned pair of hingelike knuckle elements 11 and 12 for inserting a circularly shaped pintle or the like through their thusly aligned said circularly shaped openings 13 and thusly attaching it with them, and them together, and simultaneously attaching said clamp 17 with said shelf 2 and forming a said clamping device in which as a purpose therefor, said flat topable bottom 19 of said clamp 17 raiseably clamps down on top of a portion for it ofsaid first work portion 15 ofsaid shelf2 as said arcuately shaped rear 23 ofclamp I7 is spaced apart from sand being complementary to the circularly shape of said knuckle elements 11 and 12. FIG. 4 shows convenient view of said flat front 18 in FIG. I and which is designated by broken lines ending at numerals 4 and the direction taken arrow, for understanding, that said top surface 25 thereof is arcuately cornerwise indented at said flat front portion 18 and at said side 21 thereof as said bottom surface 24 thereof forms a corner 24a thereat thusly overall forming an upside down first said finger engageable element thereat, and that said bottom surface 24 of said clamp 17 is angularly cornerwise indented at said flat front 18 and at said opposite side 22, as said top surface 25 thereat abuts cornerwise thereover thusly overall forming an upright second said finger engageable eleill ment 41 thereat unseen portions thereof being in broken lines. When said clamp 17 raiseably clamps down on top of a portion for it of said first work portion 15 of said shelf 2 as said, forms a new unseen and hereinafter exampled opening 31 forms between them at the location of unseen herein finger engageable element 41 into which a fingertip 32 is removably placed for lowerably lifting said corner top surface 25 thereat and hingewisely clampably raising said clamp 17 therefrom, as shown in said FIG. 3, and now returning to said FIGJl and continuing, and unseenly herein hingewisely turning it so'that, and now said clamp 17 is shown in broken lines, with its said topable bottom 19 at a top thereof as said bottomable top 20 is at a bottom thereof and raiseably clamped down on top of a portion for it of said second work portion 16 of said shelf 2; as a second purpose of this article, and now, said upside down finger engageable element 40 is now uprightly positioned and relative to said shelf 2 forms another said hereinafter exampled said opening 31 between them into which a said fingertip 32 can be removably placed for lifting said clamp 17 as aforesaid and as shown in said FIG. 3 and so that it unseenly herein hingewisely oppositely turns so that again said flat topable bottom 19 raiseably clamps down on said portion for it of said first work portion 15 of said shelf 2. And a front portion 91 of said attached together knuckles at a rear inside of said clamping device between said shelf 2 and clamp 17 at said first work portion 15, and also at said second work portion 16, is a said paper engageable stop means 91 which an edge 51E of a sheet of paper 51 engages as it is removably inserted on said shelf 2 between them when said clamp 17 is clampingly raised as shown in said FIG. 3, thereby limiting an extent to which a said sheet is normally insertable therein.
Said FIG. 2 shows a modified clamping device comprising a said shelf 53 comprising a said panellike thickness revealed at 54, and a said top surface 3 smooth background for a said sheet of paper 51, and a flange 55 descending therefrom at a front, a rear and at each of two opposite sides thereof. A said flange 55 can comprise, an opening through a number of portions thereof, exampled at 56, which whenever desired can be screwholes 56 therethrough which can be overall planned for being aligned with screwholes for them in portions of a wall means 99 for removably driving screws thereinto for detachably attaching them together, and a wall means of a telephone booth being particularly meant herein as in said U.S. Pat. No. 3,432,798. As an example of a said attachment, a portion of said shelf 53 is broken away for revealing an opposite side said descending flange 55 thereat comprising a said opening 56 or screwhole 56 therethrough and being aligned with an unseen screwhole through a portion of a said wall means 99 for removably driving a screw 57 thereinto for detachably attaching them together. And a portion of said revealed opposite side descending flange 55 is broken away for revealing a said same type of a said screwhole 56 through a portion of said wall means 99. And in a planning said shelf 53 also comprises a rear border area comprising a said first apertured knuckel element 61 with a said circularly shaped opening 13 therethrough projecting upwardly therefrom for being hingewisely endwise aligned with and spaced apart from a second 62 thereof projecting upwardly therefrom too, being overall shown as being in a central portion of said shelf without restriction thereto. And a clamp 17!) thereof comprises a panellike thickness and a flat rear portion 64 comprising a flat bottom surface 70, and a concavely or upwardly arcuately shaped central portion 65, and a flat front portion 66; comprising a flat bottom surface 71, being aligned with and spaced apart from said flat bottom surface 70 of said flat rear portion 64. Said flat front portion 66 comprises a border bottom portion indented or undercut into a said finger engageable element 67 overall comprising a bottom portion 68 and curving upwardly and frontwardly central portion 67 and its top portion 69 which abuts over said bottom portion 68. Said rear portion 64 also comprises a rear edge 71 comprising a knuckle element 72 with an unseen opening 13 therethrough projecting from a central portion thereof between each of two opposite sides 73 thereof which are arcuateiy shaped complementary to an arc shape of said circularly shaped knuckle elements 61 and 62, and which can be any other suitable shape too. Said knuckle element 72 is hingewisely endwise aligned in and between said empty spaced apart hingelike knuckle elements 61 and 62 so that a said circularly shaped opening 13 through each overall align for inserting and attaching a circularly shaped pintle 74 for them therein and simultaneously attaching said clamp 17b with said shelf 53 and thereby forming a said modified clamping device in which said aligned flat bottom surface 71 of said front portion 66 and said flat bottom surface 70 of said rear portion 64 normally clamp down on top of a pair of portions of said shelf for them which are spaced apart from each other by an empty space between them and proceeding beneath said concavely arcuateiy shaped central portion 65 of said clamp 17, and each of said arcuateiy shaped two opposite sides 73 of said rear edge 71 overall arcuateiy respectively align adjacent to said circularly shaped knuckle elements 61 and 62. And a said paper engageable stop means 91 is formed by and at-front portions of said attached together knuckle elements therein. And referring to said FIG. 3 again as an example only, a fingertip of a hand engages said finger engageable element's 67 and abutting top portion 69 as shown in FIG. 2 for clampably raising said clamp 17b from said shelf 53 for removably placing a sheet of paper 51 onsaid shelf53sothatanedge thereof engages a said paper engageable stop means 91 which limits an extent to which it 51 is normally insertable into instant article as shown in this FIG. 3. And in said FIG. 2 an additional purpose being, overall portionally, a curl 95 of a top sheet of paper 51 topwise attached with and curled over a bottom sheet 51b and laid against its 51b back, being overall removably placed on said shelf 53 so that when said clamp 17b hingewisely raiseably clamps down as said, its said bottom surface 71 of its said front portion 66 raiseably clamps down on a top of a portion of said bottom sheet 51b in front of said curl 95 therein which is preserved in said empty space between said shelf 53 and said concavely arcuately shaped central portion 65 of this clamps 17b, as an unclamped portion of said bottom sheet 51b extends therefrom along and on top of said top surface 55 of said shelf 63 for a said purpose.
And said FIG. 5 shows a modification of a portion in said FIG. 2 denoted 'by broken lines ending at numerals 5 and the direction taken arrows. A shelf portion 80 is shown comprising a said panellike thickness revealed at 92, and an upwardly forming flange 82 at each of two opposite sides thereof, and a flange 84 at a front thereof which is shown in broken lines for denoting that said shelf portion 80 can be modified for being without flange 84 whenever desired. A said flange fences in an article placed on said shelf. And a said flange 82 comprises an opening 56 through a number of portions thereof at said each of the two opposite sides thereof and which can be a screwhole 56 therethrough whenever desired, and which align with an unseen said screwhole as shown at 56 in a said wall means 99 for being used in an attachment of them together, as purposively said. And a said shelf of this invention and thereby a flange portion thereof, and a said means for supporting it a suitable distance above a floor, can be made from a material being usable. in a fusing welding thereof together, as shown at 93. And a portion of a clamp 170 is shown, and comprises a front portion 89. a central portion 87 comprising an opening therethrough numeraled 88, and a rear portion 86 from a central portion of which an apertured knuckle element can ordinarily form for being like knuckle element 72 shown in FIG. 2.
A bottom border 96, overall of said front portion 86 and of a portion at a side of said central portion 87, are indented for comprising an inverted capital letter L like shape thereat comprising a top portion 97 abutting over a bottom portion 96 thereat; overall comprising a said finger engageable element 200, partly shown in broken lines proceeding beneath said top portion 97 along said front portion from a side 102 to an opposite side 103 thereof.
Instant finger engageable element 200 is used for clampably raising this clamp'17c from a portion for it of this shelf portion -for removably placing a sheet of paper 51 on this shelf portion 80 for clamping this clamp 170 down on top of a portion of said sheet of paper 51, said opening 88 through clamp 17c reveals therethrough a part of said sheet of paper 51.
And according to allowable interchangeability of a portion in a figure for a portion in another figure, this shelf portion 80 can comprise a rear edge like revealed edge 92 thereof which in addition can form downwardly into a flange like flange 55 shown in said FIG. 2, and useable as said in FIG. 2. Said FIG. 3 modification is shown in a side elevational view thereof and is overall planned for doing the following, and comprises a shelf 53a comprising a paper supporting surface 3 with a said smooth background top surface for a sheet of paper, as said. Said shelf 53a also comprises a rear edge comprising a knuckle element 71 with a circularly shaped opening 13 therethrough projecting therefrom and lying substantially in the plane thereof, for being aligned with an unseen similar knuckle element and its circularly shaped opening therethrough which projects from and lies substantially in the plane of panellike clamp 17a. A circularly shaped pintle 74 is inserted and attached into and with said aligned openings for simultaneously attaching said knuckle elements together and clamp 17a with and on topof shelf 53a, so that, said clamp 17a normally raiseably clamps down on top of a portion for it of said shelf 53a, like in said FIG. 1 where clamp 17 clamps down on a portion of shelf 15.
And instant clamp 17a comprises also a front portion comprising a front edge which is bottomwisely indented or undercut for forming a finger engageable element thereat which comprises a bottom portion 105, and a curving upwardly and frontwardly center portion 107, and a top portion 106 thereof abutting over said bottom portion 105.
A fingertip 32 is removably placed against said finger engageable element for hingewisely clampably raising clamp 17a from said shelf 53a for removably placing a sheet of paper 51 on said shelf 53a and beneath said clampably raised clamp 17a to an extent limited when an edge of sheet 51 is stopped from further entering therein by engaging with a front portion 91 of said attached together knuckle elements at a rear inside between clamp 17a and shelf 53a. Said front portion 91 is a said paper engageable stop means 91.
Said fingertip either is removed .from said finger engageable element so that clamp 17a raiseably clamps down by itself on top of a portion of said sheet of paper 51, or said fingertip 32 can guidingly raiseably lay clamp 17a down thereon, for a said purpose. I v

In a clamping device, as shown in said FIG. 3, a strip of shock absorbing material 110 is attached to a portion of a bottom surface ofa clamping plate for being between it and a portion of a top surface of a said shelf for preventing marring of said shelf when there is not a said sheet of paper thereon. taching with a structure for supporting it as a said paper supporting writing top surface of a desk, table, and the like, as structure, said clamp device comprises a said paper supporting surface and a clamp plate, said clamp plate comprises a front portion, and a central portion, and a back portion, a border bottom portion of said front portion comprises a finger engageable element undercut thereinto, an edge portion of said back portion comprises a first apertured knuckle element forming therefrom and lying in the plane of instant back portion, and said clamp plate comprises a portion with an opening therethrough, said paper supporting surface thereof comprising at least a selectable first portion comprising a second apertured knuckle element forming upwardly therefrom and lying in the plane parallelly thereabove, and a clampable second portion, and an unclampable third portion, and a fourth portion along and at an edge thereof comprising a flange abutting upwardly therefrom, said structure for a purpose that, said first apertured knuckle element of said clamp plate and said second apertured knuckle element of said paper supporting surface hingelikely attach together using a pintle and the like therewith for normally clamping said clamp plate down on top of said clampable second portion of said paper supporting surface, said clamp plate due to its weight clamps down on a portion ofa first foreign object sheet of paper entered into said article, said attached together first and second apertured knuckle elements edgewisely overall for stopping a said first foreign object sheet of paper from entering further into said article and used as a guide for positioning said first foreign object sheet of paper in said article and on said paper supporting surface simultaneously, said finger engageable element for lowerably raising said clamp plate from said paper supporting surface, said opening portion of said clamp plate for revealing therethrough a portion of said first foreign object sheet of paper in said article, and whenever desired said flange firstly disposed in a selected portion thereof for using in a coopera tive said attachment of said flange and thereby said article said paper supporting surface with a portion of a second foreign object wall structure, and said flange secondly used for fencelike bounding thereat said paper supporting surface and a said first foreign object sheet of paper on said paper supporting surface.
2. in an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a first and second working position, said clamping device comprises a clamping plate comprising at least a bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof, and a top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front also thereof, and a first apertured knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof and lying substantially in theplane thereof, in combination with, a paper supporting surface comprising at least a top surface comprising a pair of spaced apart and aligned second apertured knuckle elements projecting upwardly therefrom for separating a first work portion ofinstant top surface from a second work portion thereof, above-planned so that, said clamping plate said first apertured knuckle element pintlelly hinges with and between said pair of second apertured knuckle elements so that said bottom surface of said clamping plate in its said first working position normally raiseably clamps down on a first part for it of said first work portion of said top surface and due to its weight raiseably clamps down on a portion of a [foreign object] sheet of paper inserted between them, a finger engages said bottom surface first fingerable handle element of said clamping plate for liftably hingedly turning instant clamping plate into its said second working position in which said top surface of said clamping plate is at a bottom thereof and normally clamps down on a first part for it of said second work portion of said top surface and due to its weight raiseably clamps down on a portion of a [said foreign object] sheet of paper between them, a finger engages said second fingerable handle element of said bottomwise top surface of said clamping plate for said liftably hingedly oppositely turning said clamping plate so that again said clamping plate bottom surface normally clamps down in its said first working position, an unclamped portion ofa said portionally clamped [foreign object] sheet of paper respectively extends along a second part for it of said first work portion and of said second work portion of said top surface for writing thereon at least.
3. In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 2, and adding thereto, instant clamping device clamping plate also comprises a central portion comprising an opening therethrough, so that now a part of said portion of a said foreign object sheet of paper being clamped between instant clamping plate and said paper supporting surface of instant clamping device will be visible through said opening portion for writing and reading characters thereon therethrough.
4. In an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a first and a second working position, said clamping device comprises a clamping plate comprising at least a bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof and used for lowerably raising instant clamping plate in said first working position, and a top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front also thereof and used for lowerably raising instant clamping plate in said second working position, and a first apertured knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof and lying substantially in the plane thereof and used for engaging an edge of a [foreign object] sheet of paper entering into said article for stopping its said entering thereinto, in combination with, means for turnably attaching with said first apertured knuckle element of said clamping plate, said means also for said turnably clamping down said bottom surface of said clamping plate thereon, and for said turnably clamping down said top surface of said clamping plate thereon.
5. In an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a paper supporting surface and a clamping plate, said paper supporting surface comprises a pair of apertured first knuckle elements projecting upwardly therefrom in an aligned and spaced apart relationship to each other, said clamping plate comprises a concavely arcuate-shaped central portion between a flat front portion and a flat rear portion thereof, and said flat front portion comprises an undercut finger engageable element for hingedly raising said clamping plate, said flat rear portion comprises an apertured second knuckle element projecting from a'rear portion thereof and lying substantially in the plane thereof, above-planned so that, firstly, said clamping plate said apertured second knuckle element pintlelly hinges with and between said pair of apertured first knuckle elements of said paper supporting surface so that said flat front portion and flat rear portion of instant clamping plate normally said raiseably clamps down on top of a pair of spaced apart portions for them of said paper supporting surface, said apertured first and second knuckle elements engage an edge of a foreign object sheet of paper entering into said clamping device and stop further entering thereof thereinto, and secondly, so that a curl of a top said foreign object sheet of paper topwisely attached with and curled over a top of and laid against a back of a bottom said foreign object sheet of paper are removably placed on said paper supporting surface for being clamped thereon, and as said clamping plate raiseably clamps down, said curl of said top foreign object sheet of paper is preserved beneath said concavely arcuateshaped central portion of said clamping plate as simultaneously said flat front portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamps down on top of a first portion of said bottom foreign object sheet of paper on said paper supporting surface as an unclamped second portion of said bottom foreign object sheet of paper extends therefrom along said paper supporting surface for writing thereon at least.
6. In an article of manufacture, a paper supporting surface comprising a central portion thereof from which a selected number of apertured knuckle elements thereof upwardly project and thereby separate a first work portion of said paper supporting surface from a second work portion thereof, for a purpose that in a plan, said selected number of apertured knuckle elements thereof are disposed for ultimately pintlelly hinging with an apertured knuckle element ofa clamping part so that said clamping part in a pair of steps at least turnably lays down on said first work portion of said paper supporting surface and is hingewisely and handwisely said turnable therefrom for said laying down on said second work portion,
overall for a purpose of said laying down said clamping part on top of a portion of a foreign object sheet of paper laying on said first work portion and on a said second work portion of said paper supporting surface, respectively.
7. In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 6, and adding thereto, in combination with, as an element in this claim for each structure shown for doing the following, means for said turnably attaching and handwisely functioning with said selected number of apertured knuckle elements of said paper supporting surface, and for said turnably said laying down on said first work portion of said paper supporting surface, and for said turnably said laying down on said second work portion thereof.
8. In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 6, and adding thereto, a said clamping part comprising a clamping surface comprising a selected number of portions at its rear edge comprising an apertured knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying in the plane of said clamping part, for said purpose.
9. In an article of manufacture, a clamping plate comprising as structure an upwardly arcuately shaped central portion between a flat front portion and a flat rear portion thereof, said flat front portion comprising an undercut finger engageable element for lowerably raising said clamping plate, said flat rear portion comprising an apertured first knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying substantially in the plane thereof, said article said structure overall planned for pintlelly hinging said first apertured knuckle element with an apertured second knuckle element of a first foreign object as an example a paper supporting surface of a desk and the like, so that normally said flat front portion and flat rear portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamp down on top ofa spaced apart pair of first portions of said first foreign object, as said upwardly arcuately shaped central portion of said clamping plate said upwardly urcuates above an unclamped down on second portion of said first foreign object, for a purpose that said flat front portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamps down on top of a flat portion of a second foreign object, as an example a sheet of paper, entered between said clamping plate and said first foreign object, as simultaneously a curled portion of said second foreign object is preserved between said upwardly arcuately shaped central portion of said clamping plate and said first foreign object.
10. In an article of manufacture, a clamping plate comprising at least a topable bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof, and a bottomable top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front thereof also, and a first apertured knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof for lying substantially in the plane thereof, overall planned for pintlelly hinging said first apertured knuckle element of said clamping plate with a second apertured knuckle element projecting upwardly from a central portion between a first work portion and a second work portion of a paper supporting surface of a first foreign object desk and the like, so that said topable bottom surface [of said clamping plate] lays on top of a clampable portion for it of said first work portion foruseably releaseably laying on top of a second foreign object, as an example a sheet of paper placed between them, said first fingerable handle element fingered for turning said clamping plate therefrom so that said bottomable top surface lays on top of a clampable portion for itof said second work portion for again useably releaseably laying on top of a said second foreign object placed between them, said second fingerable handle element for oppositely turning said clamping plate so that said topable bottom surface again lays on top of said clampable portion of said first work portion, and said pintlelly hinged first and second apertured knuckle elements provide a stop for a said second foreign object layably entering into said clampable portion for it of said first work portion, and of said second work portion too, respectively.
11. In an article of manufacture, a paper clamp comprising a paper supporting surface and a paper clamping plate, said paper supporting surface comprises at least a first apertured knuckle element projecting upwardly from a central portion thereof selected for a purpose of separating a first work portion thereof from a second work portion thereof, and said paper clamping plate comprises at least a rear edge portion comprising a second apertured knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying substantially in the plane thereof, said first apertured knuckle element of said paper supporting surface is fulcrumwisely and turnably and oppositely turnably interconnected with said second apertured knuckle element of said paper clamping plate by a pintle and the like, so that said paper clamping plate normally clamps down on a first portion of said first work portion of said paper supporting surface, and therefrom, is said oppositely turnable for normally said turnably clamping down on a first portion of said second work portion of said paper supporting surface, for a purpose that said paper clamping plate due to its weight said clamps down on a said clampable portion of a foreign object as an example a sheet of paper on said first portion of selectively said first work portion and said second work portion of said paper supporting surface and simultaneously positions an unclamped portion of said foreign object on and along a second portion of selectively said first work portion and said second work portion of said paper supporting surface respectively for writing on a said unclamped portion of a said foreign object at least.

Claims (11)

1. In an article of manufacture, a clamp device of a paper supporting surface to be adapted in a portion thereof for attaching with a structure for supporting it as a said paper supporting writing top surface of a desk, table, and the like, as structure, said clamp device comprises a said paper supporting surface and a clamp plate, said clamp plate comprises a front portion, and a central portion, and a back portion, a border bottom portion of said front portion comprises a finger engageable element undercut thereinto, an edge portion of said back portion comprises a first apertured knuckle element forming therefrom and lying in the plane of instant back portion, and said clamp plate comprises a portion with an opening therethrough, said paper supporting surface thereof comprising at least a selectable first portion comprising a second apertured knuckle element forming upwardly therefrom and lying in the plane parallelly thereabove, and a clampable second portion, and an unclampable third portion, and a fourth portion along and at an edge thereof comprising a flange abutting upwardly therefrom, said structure for a purpose that, said first apertured knuckle element of said clamp plate and said second apertured knuckle element of said paper supporting surface hingelikely attach together using a pintle and the like therewith for normally clamping said clamp plate down on top of said clampable second portion of said paper supporting surface, said clamp plate due to its weight clamps down on a portion of a first foreign object sheet of paper entered into said article, said attached together first and second apertured knuckle elements edgewisely overall for stopping a said first foreign object sheet of paper from entering further into said article and used as a guide fOr positioning said first foreign object sheet of paper in said article and on said paper supporting surface simultaneously, said finger engageable element for lowerably raising said clamp plate from said paper supporting surface, said opening portion of said clamp plate for revealing therethrough a portion of said first foreign object sheet of paper in said article, and whenever desired said flange firstly disposed in a selected portion thereof for using in a cooperative said attachment of said flange and thereby said article said paper supporting surface with a portion of a second foreign object wall structure, and said flange secondly used for fencelike bounding thereat said paper supporting surface and a said first foreign object sheet of paper on said paper supporting surface.
2. In an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a first and second working position, said clamping device comprises a clamping plate comprising at least a bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof, and a top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front also thereof, and a first apertured knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof and lying substantially in the plane thereof, in combination with, a paper supporting surface comprising at least a top surface comprising a pair of spaced apart and aligned second apertured knuckle elements projecting upwardly therefrom for separating a first work portion of instant top surface from a second work portion thereof, above-planned so that, said clamping plate said first apertured knuckle element pintlelly hinges with and between said pair of second apertured knuckle elements so that said bottom surface of said clamping plate in its said first working position normally raiseably clamps down on a first part for it of said first work portion of said top surface and due to its weight raiseably clamps down on a portion of a (foreign object) sheet of paper inserted between them, a finger engages said bottom surface first fingerable handle element of said clamping plate for liftably hingedly turning instant clamping plate into its said second working position in which said top surface of said clamping plate is at a bottom thereof and normally clamps down on a first part for it of said second work portion of said top surface and due to its weight raiseably clamps down on a portion of a (said foreign object) sheet of paper between them, a finger engages said second fingerable handle element of said bottomwise top surface of said clamping plate for said liftably hingedly oppositely turning said clamping plate so that again said clamping plate bottom surface normally clamps down in its said first working position, an unclamped portion of a said portionally clamped (foreign object) sheet of paper respectively extends along a second part for it of said first work portion and of said second work portion of said top surface for writing thereon at least.

In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 2, and adding thereto, instant clamping device clamping plate also comprises a central portion comprising an opening therethrough, so that now a part of said portion of a said foreign object sheet of paper being clamped between instant clamping plate and said paper supporting surface of instant clamping device will be visible through said opening portion for writing and reading characters thereon therethrough.
4. In an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a first and a second working position, said clamping device comprises a clamping plate comprising at least a bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof and used for lowerably raising instant clamping plate in said first working position, and a top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front also thereof and used for lowerably raising instant clamping plate in said second working position, and a first apertured Knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof and lying substantially in the plane thereof and used for engaging an edge of a (foreign object) sheet of paper entering into said article for stopping its said entering thereinto, in combination with, means for turnably attaching with said first apertured knuckle element of said clamping plate, said means also for said turnably clamping down said bottom surface of said clamping plate thereon, and for said turnably clamping down said top surface of said clamping plate thereon.

In an article of manufacture, a clamping device comprising a paper supporting surface and a clamping plate, said paper supporting surface comprises a pair of apertured first knuckle elements projecting upwardly therefrom in an aligned and spaced apart relationship to each other, said clamping plate comprises a concavely arcuate-shaped central portion between a flat front portion and a flat rear portion thereof, and said flat front portion comprises an undercut finger engageable element for hingedly raising said clamping plate, said flat rear portion comprises an apertured second knuckle element projecting from a rear portion thereof and lying substantially in the plane thereof, above-planned so that, firstly, said clamping plate said apertured second knuckle element pintlelly hinges with and between said pair of apertured first knuckle elements of said paper supporting surface so that said flat front portion and flat rear portion of instant clamping plate normally said raiseably clamps down on top of a pair of spaced apart portions for them of said paper supporting surface, said apertured first and second knuckle elements engage an edge of a foreign object sheet of paper entering into said clamping device and stop further entering thereof thereinto, and secondly, so that a curl of a top said foreign object sheet of paper topwisely attached with and curled over a top of and laid against a back of a bottom said foreign object sheet of paper are removably placed on said paper supporting surface for being clamped thereon, and as said clamping plate raiseably clamps down, said curl of said top foreign object sheet of paper is preserved beneath said concavely arcuate-shaped central portion of said clamping plate as simultaneously said flat front portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamps down on top of a first portion of said bottom foreign object sheet of paper on said paper supporting surface as an unclamped second portion of said bottom foreign object sheet of paper extends therefrom along said paper supporting surface for writing thereon at least.
6. In an article of manufacture, a paper supporting surface comprising a central portion thereof from which a selected number of apertured knuckle elements thereof upwardly project and thereby separate a first work portion of said paper supporting surface from a second work portion thereof, for a purpose that in a plan, said selected number of apertured knuckle elements thereof are disposed for ultimately pintlelly hinging with an apertured knuckle element of a clamping part so that said clamping part in a pair of steps at least turnably lays down on said first work portion of said paper supporting surface and is hingewisely and handwisely said turnable therefrom for said laying down on said second work portion, overall for a purpose of said laying down said clamping part on top of a portion of a foreign object sheet of paper laying on said first work portion and on a said second work portion of said paper supporting surface, respectively.

In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 6, and adding thereto, in combination with, as an element in this claim for each structure shown for doing the following, means for said turnably attaching and handwisely functioning with said selected number of apertured knuckle elements of said paper supporting surface, and for said turnably said laying down on said first work portion of said paper supporting surface, and for said turnably said laying down on said second work portion thereof.

In an article of manufacture, as defined in claim 6, and adding thereto, a said clamping part comprising a clamping surface comprising a selected number of portions at its rear edge comprising an apertured knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying in the plane of said clamping part, for said purpose.

In an article of manufacture, a clamping plate comprising as structure an upwardly arcuately shaped central portion between a flat front portion and a flat rear portion thereof, said flat front portion comprising an undercut finger engageable element for lowerably raising said clamping plate, said flat rear portion comprising an apertured first knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying substantially in the plane thereof, said article said structure overall planned for pintlelly hinging said first apertured knuckle element with an apertured second knuckle element of a first foreign object as an example a paper supporting surface of a desk and the like, so that normally said flat front portion and flat rear portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamp down on top of a spaced apart pair of first portions of said first foreign object, as said upwardly arcuately shaped central portion of said clamping plate said upwardly arcuates above an unclamped down on second portion of said first foreign object, for a purpose that said flat front portion of said clamping plate raiseably clamps down on top of a flat portion of a second foreign object, as an example a sheet of paper, entered between said clamping plate and said first foreign object, as simultaneously a curled portion of said second foreign object is preserved between said upwardly arcuately shaped central portion of said clamping plate and said first foreign object.
10. In an article of manufacture, a clamping plate comprising at least a topable bottom surface with an indented first fingerable handle element at a front thereof, and a bottomable top surface with an indented second fingerable handle element at a front thereof also, and a first apertured knuckle element projecting from a rear central portion thereof for lying substantially in the plane thereof, overall planned for pintlelly hinging said first apertured knuckle element of said clamping plate with a second apertured knuckle element projecting upwardly from a central portion between a first work portion and a second work portion of a paper supporting surface of a first foreign object desk and the like, so that said topable bottom surface (of said clamping plate) lays on top of a clampable portion for it of said first work portion for useably releaseably laying on top of a second foreign object, as an example a sheet of paper placed between them, said first fingerable handle element fingered for turning said clamping plate therefrom so that said bottomable top surface lays on top of a clampable portion for it of said second work portion for again useably releaseably laying on top of a said second foreign object placed between them, said second fingerable handle element for oppositely turning said clamping plate so that said topable bottom surface again lays on top of said clampable portion of said first work portion, and said pintlelly hinged first and second apertured knuckle elements provide a stop for a said second foreign object layably entering into said clampable portion for it of said first work portion, and of said second work portion too, respectively.
11. In an article of manufacture, a paper clamp comprising a paper supporting surface and a paper clamping plate, said paper supporting surface comprises at least a first apertured knuckle element projecting upwardly from a central portion thereof selected for a purpose of separating a first work portion thereof from a second work portion thereof, and said paper clamping plate comprises at least a rear edge portion comprising a second apertured knuckle element projecting therefrom and lying substantialLy in the plane thereof, said first apertured knuckle element of said paper supporting surface is fulcrumwisely and turnably and oppositely turnably interconnected with said second apertured knuckle element of said paper clamping plate by a pintle and the like, so that said paper clamping plate normally clamps down on a first portion of said first work portion of said paper supporting surface, and therefrom, is said oppositely turnable for normally said turnably clamping down on a first portion of said second work portion of said paper supporting surface, for a purpose that said paper clamping plate due to its weight said clamps down on a said clampable portion of a foreign object as an example a sheet of paper on said first portion of selectively said first work portion and said second work portion of said paper supporting surface and simultaneously positions an unclamped portion of said foreign object on and along a second portion of selectively said first work portion and said second work portion of said paper supporting surface respectively for writing on a said unclamped portion of a said foreign object at least.
