FIG. 4
1 CONVEYOR-TYPE FOLDUP TOOL CHEST BASE SUMMARY ble characteristics. The base permits chest to be placed in ordinarily awkward places such as: under cabinets, benches, or rear deck sides of automobiles inside the trunk. Simply roll chest under such places on conveyor base and then fold up base half to save space.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF VIEWS Fig. 1. This is a top view of base showing nearly all elements. Base folds in center by use of hinges to permit space saving and base is adjustable on the ends to accommodate most sizes of tool chests.
FIG. 2. This is a side view showing leg supports and adjustability of foldup side of base when it rests in horizontal position.
FIG. 3. This is a partial view of roller angle rails showing rollers and protective guide strip on inside vertical leg of roller angles. I
FIG. 4. Here is a cross-sectional view of roller angle rail and protective strip. 1 I
FIG. 5. This is a partial view showing adjustable slotted angles and secure strap handle.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION Conveyor-type foldup tool chest base FIGS. (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), is made up of the following parts:
lEnd adjustable slotted angles 2Side roller angle rails 3Roller 4-Roller shaft pin 5-Roller bearing 6-Protective guide strip 7Hinge I 8Secure strap handle (drawer pull type) 9-Stationary leg l0-Stud leg support block 1 lLocknut l2--Stud leg I3Eye rivet l4Shoulder rivet l6Roundhead bolt l7--Flathead countersunk rivet l8-Roundhead bolt with lockwasher and nut l9-Roundhead rivet 20--Rubber spacer with recess for bolt 2lStud leg plastic tip 22Protective strip rivet 23Secure strap 24-Roundhead bolts I claim:
1. A portable conveyor having rollers in its upper surface for sliding a tool chest or the like into a space extending upwardly from a surface a distance at least equal to the height of the conveyor and toolbox, said conveyor comprising two U- shaped supporting members, hinged together at the ends of the arms of the U, said members adapted to lie in an extended position on said surface with one of said members in said space, for sliding said toolbox on said conveyor into said space to a position entirely on said one member, the other of said members adapted to fold to a predetermined rotated, locked position.
2. The conveyor according to claim I in which the width of the conveyor is adjustable.
3. The conveyor according to claim I having side guides and provided with supporting legs at least some of which are ad- 3 5 justable.
4. The conveyor according to claim 1 having a means of securing chest or the like in relatively rigid predetermined position.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CERTIFICATE OF CORRECTION Patent No 3 572 ,485 March 30 1971 Reese Wesley Hardin It is certified that error appears in the above identified patent and that said Letters Patent are hereby corrected as shown below:
Column 2 after line 18 insert End cross pieces (1) are made of slotted angle to permit adjustment for various length tool chests and roundhead bolts (18) secure slotted angles (1) to ends of roller angle rails (2) Side roller angle rails (2) have slots cut in horizontal leg for roller assembly (3 5) and holes drilled for roller shaft (4) Protective plastic strip (6) provides for chest protection a: guide. It is fastened by rivets (22) Figure 3, which fit into strip recess holes Base is joined with hinges (7) whi are fastened by rivets (l9) Stationary legs (9) are fastened to roller angle rails (2) by flat heat countersunk rivets (17) Rubber spacer (20 Figure 2 is secured to leg (9) by roundhead bolts (16) If base is used for stationary application, a shorter bolt like (16) is used in inverted position with head fitting into rubber spacer (20) recess and nut on top of stationary leg (9) Stud leg support bloc (10) is secured to roller angle rails (2) by flathead countersunk rivets (l7) Stud leg (12) is held in position by lock nuts (11) Eye rivet (13) is for hook (15) which holds fold-up side of base in vertical position. A shoulder rivet (14) holds hook (15) in place on roller angle rail (2) Plastic tips (21) Figure 2 go on bottom of stud legs (12) A secure strap (23) Figure 2 is attached to secure strap handle (8) Secure strap handle (8) is of the drawer pull type Roundhead bolts (24) secure end slotted angles (1) together and fastens strap handle (8) to slotted angles Signed and sealed this 13th day of July 1971.
