B. SABIN.
FOLDING FOOT AND SITZ BATH.
No. 357,040. Patent'ed Feb. 1, 1887.
witnesses UNITED STATES RANSOM SABIN, OF SHELBY, MICHIGAN.
PATENT OFFICEo FOLDING FOOT AND SITZ BATH.
EPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 357,040, dated February 1, 1887.
Application filed July 8, 1886. Serial No. 207,384. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, RANSOM SABIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shelby, in the county of Oceana, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Sitz and FootBaths, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in apparatus used in administering site-baths.
The object I have in view is to obtain a portable bathing apparatus which can be folded into a small andcompact body, and which will afford the user all advantages.
To the accomplishment of the above, the invention consists in certain novel devices and combination of devices, as will be described and claimed.
Reference will be made to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective of the device ready for use, and Fig. 2 a View of the same when folded.
Like letters refer to like parts in both views.
A represents the seat-frame, to which is secured the bag-like bottom B, to be occupied by the user.
G is a suitable back hinged to the rear edge of the seatframe, the arms D of said back being formed of some pliable material.
To the lower rear edge of frame A there are hinged two legs, E, which, from points near their lower ends, are connected with the sides of said seat-frame through the medium of arms F F, hinged to each other, as shown in Fig; 1. To the lower front edge of frame A there are hinged two legs, G. To each leg G, at a point near its lower end, there is pivoted a rod or arm, H, slotted at its upper end. To each side bar of frame-seat A there is pivoted an arm or rod, H, provided at its lower end with a stud,wh ich moves in the slot of arm H, as shown in Fig. 1. By this arrangement of parts, as thus far described, it will be seen that the legs and back of this apparatus can be so folded as to render the apparatus compact and small. a
To the outer face of each leg G there is secured a screw, a,whichis adapted to be passed through a slotted arm, K, to the lower ends of l which a foot-bath frame, L, is pivoted, the bottom L of said frame being formed of like material to the bottom of the seat. The outer ends of frame L are connected with the sides of seat-frame A through the medium of adjustable straps M. By the arrangement of parts, as last above described, it will be seen thatthis foot arrangement can be adjusted to different heights, and also be folded up, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. v
To the side bars ofv the seat-frame I secure suitable loops, adapted to engage with eyes or loops secured to the side bars of the foot-frame, whereby when folded the several parts are held firmly in position.
What I claim is- The combination, with a seat frame provided with a bag bottom, hinged supportinglegs therefor, and brace-rods pivoted to said parts, of a verticallyadjustable foot -frame provided with a bag bottom and pivoted to slotted plates secured to the front legs of the main frame, straps for supporting such footframe in a horizontal position, and suitable screws forholding said foot-frame in any given position, the whole arranged as shown, and
adapted to be folded, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
RANSOM SABIN.
