GAME SCORE CARDS This invention relates generally to game score cards, and more particularly to improvements in play-indicating cards by which progress'of games can be recorded and visualized.

An objectof this invention is to provide a card of this character more particularly adapted for use in following the plays of a field game having positions such as bases or yardage lines which are changeably occupied.

Anotherobject of this invention is to provide sliding elementswhich can be manipulated behind windows in the face of a play-indicating card to represent changeable conditions of a play visually on the face thereof.

A further object of this invention is to provide a game board construction having multiple plies whereby a stiff strong, inexpensive board results fr'o rn the assembly of thin sheets and wherein hidden actuating elements can .be contained for selective use and exposure through the topmost ply.

In listening to radiobroadcasts of agam'e, it becomes much more interesting'wheri the listener has avis ible'record of the score, theapproximate location of the ball or the players and other data informing on .;.the progress of the game. The intermediate sheet 54 has a slot 62 of greater width and underlying the aperture 60 for its entire length. I

In the cavity thus formed, an adjustable slide 64 is captivated by oppositely extending tabs 66 formed by opening out the ends of a folded short piece of sheet material as best shown in FIG. 8. The folded portion 68 of the slide 64 extends upwardly through the narrow aperture 60 and forms a handle for manipulating the slide. Indicia 70. printed on the opposite sides of the portion 68,-represents a football as shown in FIG. 9.

In use, the slide 64 may be shifted to locate the football representation 68 at the appropriate portion of the field portion of representation 58. Inthe same manner. as for the previous embodiment of the scorecard I0, the slides may be manipulated to expose a numeral 36 through an opening 22 to board portion.

1 Obviously many modifications and variations of the present invention are possible in light of the above teachings. It is, therefore, to be understood that within the scope of the appended claims the invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically described.

I-claim:

l. A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having printed representations of a playing field and score board appropriate thereto thereon, said top most sheet being provided with a plurality of openings with at least one opening located-on the playing field portion and a plurality of openings adjacent to legends of the score board portion of said printed representations, the intermediate sheet being provided with a plurality of elongated The intermediate sheet 14 is provided with elongated slots 24 and 26 which extend into its edge; The slots 24 are so located as to underlie the openings 20 and the slots 26 to underlie the openings 22 when the sheets 12, 14 and 16 are assembled as shown in FlGSrl, 2, and 3. 1 These slots 24 and 26 then .form open-ended cavities which receive respectively, elongated slides 28 and 30, which then may be manipulatedlongitudinally by means of their outward ends 32. The slides 28 each have a printed representation 34 Y of a base runner while the slides 30 each have a printed sequency of indicia, such as numerals 36.

Thus, in use, the slides 28 may be shifted to expose a representation 34 to place a runner on the appropriate base of the diamond portion of representation 18 as viewed through an opening 20. a

In the same manner, the slides 30 may be manipulated to expose a numeral 36 through an opening 22 to tally the score or a step in the game.

The play indicator or score card 50 of FIG. 5 is an assembly of three sheets or plies 52, 54, and 56, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, corresponding to the sheets 12, 14 and 16 of the previous embodiment 10. This card 50 has the'same arrangement of slides 30 in slots 26 for openings 22. The top sheet 56, howslots, at least one of said slots being so located as to underlie the respective opening on said playing field and the other of said slots being so located as to underliethe openings of said ties, shiftable elongated slide members positioned in said pluf rality of elongated slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for the slide members in the other of said slots, said slides each having printed representations thereon, whereby when said slides-are shiftedin said slots, selected representations on said slides are exposed in said openings on said playing field and score board portions of said printed representations. 1 i

2. A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having a printed representations of a baseball diamond and score board thereon, said top most sheet being provided with a plurality of openings located as bases on the diamond portion and adjacent to legends of the score board portion of said printed representations, the intermediate sheet beingprovided with elongated slots which extend into its edge, certain of said slots being so located as to underlie the openings of said bases and other of said slots being so located as to underlie the openings of said score board, said slots forming open-ended cavities, shiftable elongated slide member members positioned in said openended cavities of said slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for said slide members, said slides each having printed representations thereon, whereby when said slides are shifted in said slots, selected representations of said slides are exposed in said openings on said diamond and score board portions of said printed representations.

A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having printed representations of-a football and score board appropriate thereto, said top most sheet being provided with an elongated narrow aper ture for substantially the entire length of said football field portion of said representations and a plurality of openings adjacent to legends of the score board portion, of said printed representations, the intermediate sheet being provided with an elongated closed end slot of greater width and underlying the elongated aperture of said top most sheet, said intermediate sheet also being provided with a plurality of elongated slots which extend into its edge, said plurality of elongated slots being so located as to underlie said openings of said score board, said plurality of elongated slots forming open-ended cavities, shiftable elongated slide members positioned in said open-ended cavities of said plurality of elongated slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for said slide members, said slides each having printed representations thereon, a slide member positioned in said closed end elon gated slot with handle means on said slide member projecting through said narrow aperture of said top most sheet, said slide member having a football representation on said handle means whereby said slide may be shifted to locate the football representation at the appropriate portion of the field portion. and when said elongated slides are shifted in said elongated slots, selected representations on said slides are exposed in said openings of said score board portion of said printed representations.

The game board of claim 3 wherein said slide member in said closed end elongated slot comprises a strip of material having a pair of ends and folded once upon itself to form said handle means, said ends extending oppositely to form a base, said base being captivated in said elongated closed end slot.

Claims (4)

1. A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having printed representations of a playing field and score board appropriate thereto thereon, said top most sheet being provided with a plurality of openings with at least one opening located on the playing field portion and a plurality of openings adjacent to legends of the score board portion of said printed representations, the intermediate sheet being provided with a plurality of elongated slots, at least one of said slots being so located as to underlie the respective opening on said playing field and the other of said slots being so located as to underlie the openings of said score board, said other of said slots forming open-ended cavities, shiftable elongated slide members positioned in said plurality of elongated slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for the slide members in the other of said slots, said slides each having printed representations thereon, whereby when said slides are shifted in said slots, selected representations on said slides are exposed in said openings on said playing field and score board portions of said printed representations.

A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having a printed representations of a baseball diamond and score board thereon, said top most sheet being provided with a plurality of openings located as bases on the diamond portion and adjacent to legends of the score board portion of said printed representaTions, the intermediate sheet being provided with elongated slots which extend into its edge, certain of said slots being so located as to underlie the openings of said bases and other of said slots being so located as to underlie the openings of said score board, said slots forming open-ended cavities, shiftable elongated slide member members positioned in said open-ended cavities of said slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for said slide members, said slides each having printed representations thereon, whereby when said slides are shifted in said slots, selected representations of said slides are exposed in said openings on said diamond and score board portions of said printed representations.

A game board, comprising, a foundation having at least three plies of thin sheets securely attached together in juxtaposition, with the top most sheet having printed representations of a football and score board appropriate thereto, said top most sheet being provided with an elongated narrow aperture for substantially the entire length of said football field portion of said representations and a plurality of openings adjacent to legends of the score board portion, of said printed representations, the intermediate sheet being provided with an elongated closed end slot of greater width and underlying the elongated aperture of said top most sheet, said intermediate sheet also being provided with a plurality of elongated slots which extend into its edge, said plurality of elongated slots being so located as to underlie said openings of said score board, said plurality of elongated slots forming open-ended cavities, shiftable elongated slide members positioned in said open-ended cavities of said plurality of elongated slots with the closed end of said cavities constituting a stop for said slide members, said slides each having printed representations thereon, a slide member positioned in said closed end elongated slot with handle means on said slide member projecting through said narrow aperture of said top most sheet, said slide member having a football representation on said handle means whereby said slide may be shifted to locate the football representation at the appropriate portion of the field portion, and when said elongated slides are shifted in said elongated slots, selected representations on said slides are exposed in said openings of said score board portion of said printed representations.

4. The game board of claim 3 wherein said slide member in said closed end elongated slot comprises a strip of material having a pair of ends and folded once upon itself to form said handle means, said ends extending oppositely to form a base, said base being captivated in said elongated closed end slot.
