Description

J. CAPRON.
tented Oct. 12, 1886.
15 View of one UNITED l,STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB CAPRON, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
SAS'H CENTER OR PIVOT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 350,659, dated October 12l 1886.
Application filed March 29, ISSG. Serial No. 197.081. r (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB CAPRON, of' New York city, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Im- 5 provements in Sash Centers or Pivots; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention consists in certain peeuliari ties of construction by means of which certain marked advantages are obtained, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings, Figure l represents a face part of the sash center or pivot;
Fig. 2, a similar View ot' the other part; Fig. 3, a sectional view of the parts united, and Figs. 4 and 5 views of modified forms.
To enable others skilled in the art to make 2o my invention, I will proceed to describe fully the construction ofthe same.
A, Fig. l, represents a circular plate or disk having proper openings extending through the same tor thc fastening-screws, winch dlsk 1s 25 provided with the annular bearing flange a and the central stud, c, as shown.
B also represents a circular plate or disk having the arms b b on opposite sides of the disk, with openings through the same f'or the 3c fastening-screws, which disk is provided with the annular bearing-recess b and the central opening, b2, as shown.
Then the parts are in place, the central stud, a', of the part A extends into the central opening, b2, of the Apart B, as shown in Fig. 3. The part A is attached to the frame of the window and the part B to the sash in the manner well understood. By means ofthe annular bearing-flange aand the annular bearing-recess Il the entrance of light, air, and dust is clfectually excluded when the sash is closed.
In Fig. 4 is shown a modification, in which the part O, which corresponds with the part A, is provided with extemling-bearing arms c c, as shown. By means of this Lconstruction the sash-frame maybe cut to the necessary extent Without materially weakening the same.
A further modification is shown in Fig. 5. In this the bearing-arms (l Z form the rabbet and extend also over the sides or ends of the sasli.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The sash-pivot consisting ofthe part A, with `annular bearingtlange and central stud,
land the part B, with annular bearing-recess and central opening, as described.
2. The diskeplates with annular ange and recess having the extended bearing-arms b c,
JACOB lA PHON.
