Cl. 22385 v ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A metal wire hanger having a shank and hook both formed of double wire sections each section having at the lower end of the shank a support section extension,-each in crossed relation and coextensive. Equal length arms depend from the outer ends of the support sections, one arm terminating in a hook and the other arm having a hanger bar extending therefrom parallel to the support sections and terminating at its free end in a hook for interlocking engagement with the arm hook. The components of the hanger lie in the same plane. Secured to the outer or forward shank section is a tagholder or plate carrying a number or other indicia the same being in a plane normal to the plane of the hanger so as to be visible when the hanger is mounted on a support bar. A bag or container has a hem providing a through passage for reception of the hanger bar. The interlocking hooks being first dis-- engaged. On locking of the hooks the bag or container is positively held on the hanger.

SPECIFICATION This invention relates to new and useful improvements in garment hagners for use in checkrooms of swimming pools, beaches, country clubs, schools and institutions where it is desired to check articles of clothing along with other personal items and has for its primary object the provision of a wire hanger havinfg a hanger bar integral at one end with the wire hanger and provided at its other end with a detachable interlocking connection with the wire hanger such that the hanger bar may have removably mounted therein a bag or container for holding personal items while at the same time supporting articles of apparel.

Another object of this invention is to provide the hanger with coextensive support sections to supporting or hanging thereon such articles of apparel as a coat, jacket, shirt or dress.

A still further object of this invention is to provide on the shank of the hanger a metal tag or plate, fixedly secured thereto in a plane normal to the plane of the hanger, for carrying a number or other identifying indicia.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, and in which:

FIGURE 1 is a side elevational view of the hanger with article carrying bag mounted thereon.

FIGURE 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of the hanger showing the hanger bar in open position to receive the article carrying bag.

Referring to the drawing in detail, and particularly FIGURE 1, the hanger 10 is formed of a single length of wire of the type normally used for coat hangers and is shaped by the wire being bent upon itself intermediate its ends to form a shank 12 with a hook 14 consist of double wire sections 12a, and 12b to provide strength and rigidity to the hanger 10 in supporting the articles to be carried thereby. The shank 12 is straight and is made relatively long. Provided at the lower end of shank 12 are the shoulder support sections 16, 18 which are co-extensive,

1 Claim I of equal length and extend laterally from the shank and in the same plane therewith. The support sections 16, 18 cross each other in the zone of their juncture with the shank, support section 16 extending from shank section 12;: to the right (viewing FIGURE 1) and support section 18 extending from shank section 12b to the left.

Depending from the outer end of support section 16 and vertical thereto is an arm 20 terminating in an up wardly directed hook 22. At the outer end of support secticjp 18 there is provided a depending arm 24 at right angles to the support section 18 and of the same length as :arm 20. The arms 20, 24 are parallel and lie in the same plane with support sections 16, 18. Extending later- :ally and normal to arm 24 is a hanger bar 26 that is parallel to support sections 16, 18 and terminates at its free end in a hook 28 that lies below the bar 26 and with its opening facing arm 24. The hooks 22, 28 are also formed as to interlock one with the other in the manner readily apparent so as to maintain the hanger bar in locked operative position.

A metal tag holder or plate 30 carrying a number or other identifying indicia is preferably permanently attached to shank section 12a as by welding or in any other suitable manner. The tag holder or plate 30 is disposed in a plane at right angles to the plane of the hanger 10 so as to be clearly visible when the hanger 10 is hung on a bar (not shown), the shank 12 and hook 14 being to the rear of the tag holder or plate 30.

As the hanger 10 is primarily designed for use in the check rooms of swimming pools, beaches, country clubs, schools and institutions, there is provided for use with the hanger 10 an article carrying bag or container (not shown) having a support flap 34 provided with a hem 36 at its upper free end that is formed to provide a passage 38. With the hanger bar 26 unlatched from its hook connection 22, 28, the same is inserted through passage 38 in hem 36; and on the interlocking of hooks 22, 28 it is seen that the bag or container is positively supported by the hanger with removal therefrom pervented as long as the hooks 22, 28 are interlocking. The bag or container may contain sundry personal items and due to the length of hanger arms 20, 24 sufficient room is provided for the hanging and storage of a dress, trousers or other apparel. The hanger support sections 16, 18 also provides for the hanging and storage of a shirt, coat, dress or other apparel.

While certain novel features of my invention have been shown and described, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A hanger for use with a bag having at its top a hem providing a through passage comprising:

(a) a shank embodying two straight parallel wire shank sections,

(b) a bent over hook formed at the upper terminal end of that shank embodying two like wire hook sections integrally joined at their free terminal ends constituting extensions of the shank sections.

(c) a linear horizontal support section forming an extension of each shank section extending laterally in cross-relation from said shank sections and coextensive with respect to each other,

(d) the two parallel wire shank portions being straight and of a substantial length exceeding the length of said bent over hook and extending vertically upwardly from the point of cross-relation of said horizontal support sections,

(e) an arm depending from the outer terminal end of each support section,

(f) said arms being parallel and of equal length,

(g) a linear hanger bar extending from the lower end of one arm parallel and in opposed relation to said support sections,

(h) said shank, hook, support sections, arms and hanger bar lying in the same plane,

(i) a metal plate member for carrying identifying indicia permanently secured to one only of said parallel Wire shank sections adjacent to said point of cross-relation of said horizontal support sections and disposed in a plane normal to the plane of said hanger,

(j) a hook member opening towards said one arm at the free terminal end of said hanger bar, and

(k) a hook member having its opening directed up- Wardly at the free terminal end of said other arm,
