RACK FOR NEGKTIES Filed April 7, 196',
11v VENTOR OAA 0. LOWE United States Patent 3,472,389 RACK FOR NECKTIES Ora D. Lowe, 1065 N. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, Fla. 32074 Filed Apr. 7, 1967, Ser. No. 629,280 Int. Cl. A471. 7/12, /04, 5/08 US. Cl. 211-60 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to racks, and more particularly, to a rack especially designed to hold a number of neckties, and still more particularly, to a rack that is secured to any desired vertically disposed surface, such as a closet door or the like.
This invention embodies a vertically mounted bracket in which is removably placed the vertically disposed leg of an inverted U-shaped member that supports a horizontally disposed circular member having a plurality of openings therein in which neckties are placed, although the device can also be use-d to hold belts and other similar articles.
While there are any number of racks for neckties on the market, none have been found that will not only hold the usual form of neckties, but also support other similar articles of dress in such a manner that the desired article can always be rotated to the front for instant removal from its supporting surface.
It is, therefore, the principal object of this invention to provide a rack for neckties of character herein dedescribed that will take up a minimum of space and hold a maximum number of neckties or other articles of wear in a way that will prevent them from becoming wrinkled or otherwise damaged by the press of other articles against them.
Another object of this invention is to provide a rack for neckties and the like that can instantly be disassembled for dusting.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a rack for neckties and the like that consists of only four parts, not counting the two mounting screws. The invention does not contain any springs or clips that would in time leave marks on the neckties or other articles that might be placed on this novel rack which I have invented.
Other and further objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent as the reading of this specification proceeds and the appended drawing is examined.
In the drawing:
FIG. 1 is a pictorial view of this invention ready for use.
FIG. 2 is a pictorial view of this invention supporting a bow tie, a clip-on tie and a belt.
FIG. 3 is a pictorial view of this invention supporting a preknotted tie and an unknotted tie.
FIG. 4 is an enlarged front view of FIGURE 1.
In the appended drawing, like parts of this invention are indicated by like reference numbers throughout the several views of the drawing.
In the drawing, the reference number indicates a mounting plate having a holding strap 11 formed from the center portion thereof in such a manner as to provide a holder for the vertically disposed leg 12 of the inverted U-shaped member 13 that consists of not only the afore- 3,472,389 Patented Oct. 14, 1969 said vertically disposed leg 12 but also of the horizontally disposed arm 14 and the vertically disposed arm 15 that has a plurality of threads 16 on the lowermost end thereof for the screwed reception of the wing :nut 17 after the threaded end has been placed through a centrally located opening in the circular tie holder 18.
Continuing to look at the drawing, it will be seen that the aforesaid circular tie holder 18 is provided with a plurality of equally spaced peripheral recessed openings 19 therein. Each opening 19 being U-shaped in configuration. An elongated recessed opening 20, having an enlarged end 21, is located between each of the aforesaid recessed openings 19. A plurality of equally spaced elongated openings 22, having rounded ends 23, are located in the aforesaid circular tie holder 18. It will be noted on examination of the appended drawing that all openings: and recesses of the aforesaid circular tie holder 18 are rounded in order not to tear or otherwise damage any necktie or other object that is hung on this novel rack that I have invented.
From the foregoing it is seen that I have herein provided a rack for neckties and similar pieces of wearing apparel that are normally kept in good shape, when not being worn, by being hung up on a rack that is so designed that it permits whatever it is supporting to keep free of wrinkles.
This invention is subject to any changes and/or modifications one may desire to make in so long as the changes and/or modifications do not conflict with the contents of the appended claim.
What I now claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. A rack for neckties, belts and the like comprising a vertically disposed mounting plate adapted to be secured to a Wall, a horizontally disposed circular plate, said plate having a first series of elongated recesses extending inwardly from the periphery of said plate and terminating in an enlarged recess near the center of said circular plate, a second series of elongated recesses extending inwardly a lesser distance from the periphery of said circular plate than said first series, said second series terminating in an enlarged recess having a shape and size similar to that of said first series, a third series of triangular recesses opening into the periphery of said circular plate, said third series terminating inwardly a lesser distance from the periphery of said circular plate than said second series, whereby ties, belts or-the like may be supported at varying distances inwardly from the periphery of said plate, an inverted U-shaped support having a pair of parallel legs, one leg thereof swingably supported on said vertical plate, and the other leg attached to the center of said circular plate.
