SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 347,102, dated August 10, 1886.

Application filed April 22. 1886. Serial No. 199,769.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS J. GALE, of Albion, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had'to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in plows.

The invention consists in the peculiar combinations and the novel construction and arrangement of parts, all as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

Figure 1 is a'perspective View of my improved plow. Fig. 2 is a similar View with plow-point removed. Fig. 3is a bottom plan. Figs. 4 and 5 are cross-sections on line 00 0c and y y in Fig. 3.

In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, A represents the standard, B the mold-board, and O the landside, secured together in any of the known constructions of plows.

D is an interchangeable plow-point, which is adjustable in a slot, a, in the foot of the standard A, as in the ordinary manner. This point is secured to place by means of a set screw, as follows: In the bottom wall of the slot at is formed a recess, 1), to receive a nut, E, with which engages a set-screw, F, said setscrew passing through a slightly-enlarged orifice, c, in the standard. After the point has been adjusted to the desired projection beyond the point of the plow, the set-screw is turned up till itsinner end comes in contact with and firmly clamps the point or bar against the body of the foot of the standard above it, as shown.

saddle, G, which forms a portion of the landside and point, and is secured over the toe of the standard by a suitable bolt, (1, as shown. H is a plow-point, forming a portion of the mold-board. Thejoint between such point, the mold board, and saddle or cap G is upon straight lines, and is secured to the toe of the standard by means of a bolt, 6. By this construction it will be observed that I provide a means for securing the interchangeable point to its adjusted position, which precludes any wear of the standard by the set-screw, and by the employment of the cap or saddle at the toe of the plow I obtain additional strength of parts, while the extension portion of the moldboard or plow-point, as ordinarily termed, can readily be fitted, and replaced when worn, at a very nominal cost.

\Vhat I claim as my invention is- 1. In a plow, the combination, with the standard and the interchangable plow-point adjustable therein, of the cap or saddle G independent of said point, but forming a guide therefor, and forming also a portion of the landside at the toe of the plow, and the detachable wing-point H, forming a portion of the mold board, substantially as desdribed.

2. The combination, with the standard A, of the cap or saddle G, secured over the toe of said standard by the bolt d, and forming a portion of. the lan'dside and point, and the separate wing plow point H, secured to the toe of the standard by the bolt e, and forming a portion of the mold-board, substantially as described.
