A461) 17/00 U.S. Cl. 15-166 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE To prevent paint from dripping 011 of a paint brush, a fiat metal strip is mounted so that the brush is positioned above the metal strip, and with the tip of the brush at the outer edge of the metal strip so that the drippings from the brush are caught by the metal strip, and additionally the paint brush is guided in a straight line by the edge of the metal strip.

An object of my invention is to provide a novel and inexpensive paint brush drip protector in which a fiat plate is mounted below the brush to catch any paint drip pings which might drip from the brush.

Another object of my invention is to provide a novel paint brush drip protector in which the means to mount the brush on the metal strip consists of a post projecting from the metal strip, and a mounting plate secured thereto which clamps the handle of the paint brush, and also permits adjustment of the brush as might be required relative to the metal strip.

Still another object is to provide a novel paint brush strip of the character stated which is light in weight and which can be easily transported during the painting operation.

Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claim.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 consists of a flat rectangular plate preferably formed of a light metal, such as aluminum. A post 2 projects upwardly from the metal strip 1 and is welded to the Ice strip, substantially as shown. The post 2 extends upwardly at right-angles to the plane of the strip 1 and is positioned adjacent one end of the strip. A fastening plate 3 is mounted on the post 2 by means of the wing bolts 4-5 which thread into the post for the purpose of clamping the paint brush handle 6 between the post and the plate. The paint brush is preferably positioned at an angle to the strip 1 as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, so that the bristles 7 thereof will project slightly beyond the outer edge of the strip 1 to permit the operator to flow paint upon a wall, ceiling, or the like. The angle of the paint brush can be adjusted as required, and also the brush can be adjusted longitudinally to permit the bristles 7 to protrude a proper amount beyond the edge of the strip 1. Also the bristles 7 can be adjusted vertically relative to the strip 1, as might be required. The adjustment of the paint brush is accomplished by loosening the wing bolts 4 and 5 a slight amount and then adjusting the handle 6 as required.

Having described my invention, I claim:

1. A paint brush drip protector comprising a flat plate, a post on said plate, and clamping means on the post releasably engaging the handle of a paint brush to secure the paint brush to the post, said means on the post being releasable from engagement with the handle to permit adjustment of the handle on the post, and said means on the post consisting of a plate and bolts extending through the plate and threaded into the post.
