A represents a strap, which passes over the upper jaw of a horse, and is provided at its extremities with buckles for engaging with the bridle-rings on each side of the mouth. A strap, B, is fastened to the strap A,and passes up along the front side of thehorses face, the rear end of the strap B being attached to a headstall, C, and is provided with a ring, D.
E represents a block, which is attached to the strap A,and is provided with two sheaves or pulleys, F and F.
G represents a strap, which is attached to the saddle of the harness, and is provided with aring or loop, I'I, and a block, I, having a Single sheave, K.
L representsastrap,or line, one end of which is attached to the loop or ring H. The said strap then passes through the ringD and over one ofthe pulleys in the block E, from thence back and around the pulley in-the block I,
claim- 1. The combination, inY a harness, of the bridle having the block E on the horses face, the line having one end attached to the saddle or the other portion of the harness passed over the horses head and through the block E,and then passed back over the horses head and attached to the reins, substantially as described.

In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own 1 have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
