  • the insert 4 is released, whereupon it assumes the position shown by broken lines and identified by an arrow. It is readily seen that the widest part of head 5 has larger dimensions than the distance between the two ends of slot 2. This distance constitutes the effective length of the slot. Insert 4 is thus firmly and securely maintained in base 1 due to the stiffening inlays 6; the resiliency of which, however, permits a certain desirable freedom of motion of the insert.

  • the inlay extending along the periphery of the head portions is discontinued for a short distance on both sides of the longitudinal axis of the strap. This feature tends to facilitate the deformation of the strap along its length for insertion into, or removal from the cooperating slots.
