NURSE'S CAP BOX Filed June 21, 1966 20 ZL/IO I2 ELIZAEETH q. HENKE INVENTOR.

United States Patent O "we 3,389,781 NURSES CAP BOX Elizabeth G. Henke, P.O. Box 4809, Tucson, Ariz. 85719 Filed June 21, 1966, Ser. No. 559,221 2 Claims. (Cl. 206-8) This invention relates in general to bat boxes and more particularly relates to such a box for a nurses cap. The invention is shown herein as embodied in an improved hat box in which a nurses cap may be contained for storage or to be conveniently carried about during travel.
It is well known that nurses in the ordinary pursuit of their profession wear uniforms, and that a distinctive type of cap or headgear is part of that uniform. Further, the care of nurses caps present a rather unique and somewhat difficult problem. Since it is not desirable that the cap be worn off duty and especially on the street, it must usually be stored at the place of employment, or carried home or away from the job in hand. Whether the cap is left uncovered when it is put away or carried uncovered to and from the nurses place of employment, it is most inconvenient and also very difficult to prevent its becoming soiled or crushed.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a box adapted to contain a nurses cap and protect it from becoming soiled or crushed.
It is a further object to provide such a hat box which is relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture and which will obviate the above difficulties in the care and preservation of nurses caps.
It is a further object to provide such a nurses hat box which is attractive as a ladies hat box and which is provided with means for carrying an owners identification card.
It is a further object to provide such a hat box which has a carrying handle convenient to be extended for use when the box is to be carried, and which may be recessed out of the way when the box is to be stored.
Other objects, advantages and features of the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, which for purposes of illustration discloses preferred embodiments of the invention, with the understanding however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with its showing of the drawings but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention.
In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a nurses cap box with the top raised and with a high nurses cap inside;
FIG. 2 is a top plan view of the nurses cap box shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a view in cross section taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 2;
FIG. 4 is an enlarged partial view of the box shown in FIG. 1, showing detail of the front of the box;
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the invention, with a low nurses cap inside;
FIG. 6 is a medial cross section through the cap box shown in FIG. 5; and
FIG. 7 is an illustrative view in cross section showing another embodiment of the invention.
According to the form of the invention shown in FIG. 1 and generally designated by numeral 10, the invention may include a box 11 and a cover 12, which may be hingedly interconnected as shown at 13.
The box 11 may have a flat bottom wall 14, a curvilinear front side wall 15, a curvilinear right side wall 16, a curvilinear left side wall 17, and a back side wall 18.
3,389,781 Patented June 25, 1968 The cover 12 may have a top wall 19, a curvilinear front side wall 20, a curvilinear right side wall 21, a curvilinear left side wall 22, and a rectilinear back edge 23.
Inside the box 11 there may be provided a rounded knob-like form 24, over which a nurses cap may be placed, in the manner shown in FIG. 1. A container for bobby pins 25 may be provided, and may be recessed in form 24 as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 6, or may rest atop form 24 as shown in FIG. 7. In either instance, a suitable cover not shown may be provided.
As shown in FIG. 4, the cover 12 may carry female latch means 26, and the box 11 may carry aligned male latching means 27. A carrying handle may be provided and may be slidably retained by holding straps as shown at 29, so that the handle may be recessed out of the way for easier storage. An identification card holder as shown at 30 may also be provided.
The nurses cap container of the invention may be manufactured from a variety of suitable materials, but an opaque plastic material such as a quilted plastic appears to offer more advantages than any other.
While the invention has been described in detail and reference has been made to specific applications thereof, it is to be understood that the invention herein disclosed is not limited to such specific applications, and it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
