(Cl. 248-97) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bag holding device formed of a wire or rod formed cage which may be rectangular or otherwise shaped to form a hollow cage-like enclosure for receiving a paper or bag or other material which is to be filled with garbage or other refuse. The cage has upright corner rods or wires with top and bottom frames, and there is a bottom tray portion which is slidable from bottom to top of the cage, and which is weighted to normally be at the bottom to lower the center of gravity to avoid accidental tipping over. The tray portion is dished upwardly to retain any liquid contents of the garbage to avoid soiling the floor beneath, and when the garbage bag is to be emptied, the tray can be pushed upwardly on its track guides formed by the uprights of the cage, to push the bag out of the device into a garbage can or the like without soiling the hands, stops being provided at the top and bottom of the cage to retain the tray within the cage.

This invention relates to supporting and holding devices for paper bags, and more particularly to a device for receiving and supporting garbage bags.

It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a bag holding device which will have a cage like frame of plastic coated metal which will receive a paper bag and will be easily disposed of when filled with garbage.

Another object of this invention is to provide a bag holding device which will be sanitary and will be easy to clean in the event the components of the device become soiled.

Another object of this invention is to provide a bag holding device which will have a weighted tray member in the base which will thus prevent liquids from seeping through the paper bag and soiling the floor or other surface the device is placed upon and the weighted tray member will allow the center of gravity of the device to be as low as possible thus minimizing the chances of the device spilling over onto the floor.

Another object of this invention is to provide a bag holding device which will be rust proof and corrosion proof and will be easy to empty without the user having to touch the garbage or the garbage bag.

Another object of this invention is to provide a bag holding device which will have the tray member slidable Within the frame of the device thus aiding in disposing of the contained bag of garbage.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a bag holding device which wil have stop means within the frame to prevent the tray member from falling from within the frame of the device.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is shown. However, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes all such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

According tothis invention, a bag holding device 10 is provided with a plastic covered wire form 11 which is spaced apart and parallel with a similar upper form 12. A plurality of parallel spaced apart upright members 13 of plastic covered wire are secured to the inside corners 14 of lower form 11 and upper form 12 thus forming a rectangular shaped cage. A rectangular tray member 15 of plastic material is received within the cage of bag holding device 10 and a rectangular weight 16 of lead or similar material is molded within tray member 15 thus giving bag holding device 10 a low center of gravity to minimize the possibility of the device 10 being tipped over accidentally by children, pets, etc. Tray member 15 is provided with an outer flange 17 having a U-shaped opening 18 in the corners 19 of the outer flange 17 and the openings 18 of flange 17 are slidable against the upright members 13 and thus the upright members 13 guide the tray member 15 when it is urged towards the upper form 12. The upper extremities of upright members 13 are provided with a projecting stop pin 20 which prevents tray member 15 from being removed entirely from within bag holding device 10. The paper bag 21 which is to receive the garbage is dropped within the upper form 12 and comes to rest within the tray member 15 which prevents any fluid from seeping through bag 21 onto the floor.

It will be noted that when emptying the garbage bag holding device 10 may be held in the hand by the upright members 13 and when the bag full of garbage 21 is expelled from within device 10' the tray member 15 aids in quickly urging bag 21 from within device 10 by the flange 17 of tray member 15 sliding along the upright members 13. 7

What I now claim is:

1. A bag holding device comprising a plurality of upright members, an upper and a lower rectangular frame engaging said upright members, with said lower rectangular frame forming the base of said device, a tray member normally supported by said lower rectangular frame and movably engaging said upright members for movement to said upper rectangular frame, and stop pins preventing the tray from being expelled from the device, said tray member being molded of plastic with a lead Weight molded within the plastic of said tray member to lower the center of gravity of said device in order to prevent it from accidentally being tipped over and spilling the garbage from within a bag received within said device and said tray member being provided with a continuous outwardly extending flange, said flange having a U-shaped opening in each corner which slidingly .receives said upright members of said device and said upright members providing guide means for said tray member when removing or expelling a full bag of garbage from within said device and when emptying said device said tray member is urged towards the upper frame thus aiding in removing a full bag of gargbage from within said device in order that a new one may be replaced within said device.

A bag holding device comprising a plurality of upright members, an upper and a lower rectangular frame engaging said upright members, with said lower rectangular frame forming the base of said device, a tray member normally supported by said lower rectangular frame and movably engaging said upright members for movement to said upper rectangular frame, and stop pins preventing the tray from being expelled from the device, said upper rectangular frame having an opening, said tray member having a flange, a stop pin secured at the uppermost ends of said upright members of said device and said stop pins projecting inwardly of said upper frame thus providing stop means to prevent said tray member from being expelled from within :said device when said stop pins abut with said flange of said tray member when said tray member is urged toward the opening in said device which receives a bag.

A bag holding device comprising a plurality of upright members, an upper and a lower rectangular frame engaging said upright members, with said lower rectangular frame forming the base of said device, a tray member normally supported by said lower rectangular frame and movably engaging said upright members for movement to said upper rectangular frame, and stop pins preventing the tray member from being expelled from the device, when said bag holding device is again placed in upright position upon the floor or other surface after being emptied, a weight molded within said tray member of said device for urging said tray member automatically downwards until its rests upon said lower rectangular frame which rests upon a floor or other surface said device is placed upon and said tray member is nestled within the lower frame of rectangular configuration.
