Description

FFICEQ GEORGE MULLER, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
PROCESS OF VENEE RING WITH FABRIC.
filECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No 337,346, dated March 2,1886.
Application filed December 16, 1884. Serial No. 150,540.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE MULLER, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Process of Veneering with Fabric, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists in veneering wood or other materials or substances with a printed or plain fabric, and finishing the same with a glossy surface.
In carrying out my invention the wood or other substance to be veneered is first sized with a composition of glue and whiting, said composition consisting of three parts of glue to one part of whiting. Said composition does not change the colors of the fabric nor change it in any manner. After it has been applied and has become dry it is well rubbed in. The veneering fabric is then applied to the surface by means of an adhesive mixture of three equal parts of flour paste, starch, and gelatine. After this becomes sufficiently dry the outer surface of the cloth is then coated with one or more coats of this last-mentioned composition, according to the texture of the (Specimens) fabric, until it is perfectly smooth and glossy. After this has become dry it is varnished in the usual manner.
Having thus fully described my invention,
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 30 of the Unit-ed States- The herein-described process of veneering wood or other substances with a veneering of fabric, consisting of first coating the substance to be veneered with a mixture of three 5 parts of glue and one part of whiting, which is well rubbed in; secondly, of securing the fabric thereto by means of an adhesive mixture of three equal parts offlour paste, starch,
and gelatine, and, thirdly, of covering the 0 GEORGE MULLER. 1 s] Vitnesses:
HUBERT BUOROQUET, PIERRE RossI.
