G. W. SW'INBHART; RING HOLDER" P03 HARNESS.
Patented-Mar. 2, 18 86.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. SWINEHART, OF EAST LYNNE, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE HALF TO GEORGE W. FARROW, OF SAME PLACE.
RING-HOLDER FOR HARNESS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 337,031, dated March 2. 1886.
Application filed December 28, 1885. Serial No. 186,847. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. SWINEHART, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Lynne, in the county of Cass and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Attaching Rings, &c., to Harness; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable 0thers skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in ring holders or supports, the object of which is to proyide a cheap, simple, and convenient device for attaching rings, links, buckles, Sad, to harness, or to anything else where it may be applicable, so that they may be detached when desired. These objects I attain by means of the device illustrated in the accompanying 2o drawings, forming a part of this specification,
in which- Figure l is a view in elevation of the entire device. Fig. 2 is a View of a modification of the same.
The device may be formed of two pieces, "A B, hinged together, as shown in Fig. 1, when used in connection with the hames of the harness; but when secured to other parts of the harness it is preferably formed of one piece,
0 A, having holes or other suitable means of securing the same in place. Piece Ahas a side, a made in the shape of an arc of a circle, and is provided with arrnsDand E, which form with it the openings F and G, for receiving through the opening H a ring or link, 0, and holding it in place. Arm D has a head, d, the end d of which is 'made concave or notched, as shown, the inner projection, (1, being made sharp or angular at 01 Arm Ehas a head, 6, with a convex or angular point, e, to correspond with the opening in the head d, to form an opening, H, of uniform width, and is provided with a sharp or angular corner, e, projecting inward. Thus the ring is easily put in the support through the opening H, which is made to closely fit the ring, and when in it can swing or drop from one opening, D, to the other, E, without losing out between the points d and 6.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a ring-holder for harness, arms D and E, having heads d and 6, made to correspond to form an opening, H, with points d* 6*, projecting inward, all substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A ring-support composed of apiece, A, provided with arms D and E, forming openings F and G, said arms provided with inward projections d? e and an open space H substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. SWINEHART.
Witnesses:
