ORNAMENTAL FABRIC.
No. 335,792. Patented Feb. 9, 1886.
WITNESSES: M/VE/VTORS I lit deb/2d Wkl widjv'aanmr @@& @4 By W I A TIQ/M/EY N. PETIZRS. Fhom-Liihugrapher. Washinginn, no.
lhvrreo STATES PATENT OFFICEO LUCIEN BAER AND DAVID KRAEMER, OF Nl DV YORK, N. Y.
ORNAMENTAL FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION -forming part of Letters Patent No. 335,792, dated February 9, 1886.
Application filed August 2'1, 1885.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that we, LUoIEN BAKER and DAVID KRAEMER, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ornamental Fabrics, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
Our invention is a new or improved manu facture consisting of wall-paper having a de sign coated with crystal beads or glass beads, as hereinafter more particularly described.
The accompanying drawings illustrate a mode of carrying out our invention, Figure 1 being a face view of a piece of wall-paper ornamented according to our process, and Fig. 2 a sectional view of the same.
In carrying out our invention we take a web of paper, A, properly sized and stained or colored in the desired manner, and print thereon with a coat of size or varnish, or other adhesive substance, a design of the desired character, using for this purpose a die, block, or pattern, such as is used for printing the figures on wall-paper in the ordinary process. Then before the adhesive substance has dried we apply to the surface of the design a quantity of crystal beads or glass beads,
Serial No. 175,435. (Specimens) which, adhering to the sized or varnished surface of the design, form an incrustation, thereby giving beautiful delicate tints, producing transparent effects, and showingin a subdued manner all the underlying colors, which cannot be obtained by any other process.
The crystal beads or glass beads may be applied in one, two, or more colors, and the different colors may be mingled together or used separately, as may be preferred.
It will be seen that the design produced by our invention is formed entirely of the crystal heads, the latter being distributed over the entire design, without leaving any space be tween them, by simply scattering them thereon.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
An improved article of manufacture consisting of wall-paper having a design the surface of which is entirely coated with crystal beads or glass beads, substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
