UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK OATLIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., AssicNoE TO MAX LOEWENSTEIN, 0E SAME PLACE.
FUNNEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 834,564, dated January 19, 1886.
Application filed April 13, 1885. Serial No. 162,072.
' after fully described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification,in which the figure is a sectional elevation of my improved filter.
A neck, A?, formed at the lower end of the funnel A,is screwed intoa cock-casing, E, containing aplug, E. In the lower end of the cock-casing an outlet-tube, F, is screwed and is surrounded by a fiat ring, F, screwed on the lower end of the cock-casing. Air-vent apertures G are formed in the lower part of a cock-casing.
\Vhen the funnel is being used, the plate or fiat ring F rests on the top of the bottle, the tubeF projecting down into the said bottle, the cock E is opened, and the liquid poured into the funnel passes down through the same and through the tube F into the bottle.
If it is desired to transport the liquid, the
(No model.)
cock E is closed before the funnel is filled, and if the liquid is to be drawn it isonly necessary to open the cock-casing. The flow of liquid from the funnel can be stopped at any time by closing the cock E.
Having thus fully described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with a funnel, oft-he longitudinally and horizontally apertured cock casing E on the'lower end of the same, having a cock, E, in said horizontal aperture, and the vent-apertures G, the tube F, secured in the lower end of the cock-casing and forming a continuation of the longitudinal aperture thereof, and the plate F, secured to the lower end of the cock-casing, and having a central U aperture through which the tube passes, said aperture being of greater diameter than the tube, the inner ends of the vent-apertures G communicating with thespace formed between said plate and tube, substantially as set forth. 2. In a funnel, the cock-casing E, formed with thelongitudinal and transverse apertures, two concentric screw-threaded sockets in its under face,vent-apertures G, leading from the space between said sockets to the outer face of the casing, an upper screw-thread, anda cock, E, substantially as set forth.
