'and useful improvements in Oil and Gaso- `lenelMeasures; and I do hereby declare .the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suclr as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in liquid measuring devices and has for one of its objects the provision of a device of this character employing a plurality of containers varying in sizes which are adapted to be filled and the contents of either may be dispensed independently of the other so that a certain amount of liquid may be obtained byA draining a certain container.
Another object of this invention is the provision of means whereby the containers may be filled from a single source. i
A further object of this invention is the provision of means for admitting air to the containers so that the liquid therein may be drained or dispensed therefrom.
A still: further object of this invention is the rovision of an oil and gasolene measure oi the above stated character, which shall be simple, durable and edicient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure- 1 is a front elevation of an oil or gasolene measure constructed in accordance with my invention, and
Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view of the valve for admitting .air to the containers.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a supporting structure consisting of vertical supporting legs 2 which have formed upon their lower ends feet 3 that maybe secured in any well known man- Specication of Letters rgatent.

The pipes forming the members i and 5 and the legs 2 are connected together' by couplings as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1.
The member 4 is provided with a plurality of spaced openings to receive feed pipes 6 which have iormed thereon ,collars 7 that rest upon the member 4 for limiting the movement of the feed pipes within the openings of said member. The feed pipes 6 are connected to T-couplings 8 thatare connected by pipe sections 9 forming a supply pipe which may be connected in any well known manner to a supply source. The feed pipes 6 after extending through the openings in the member 4 have connected thereto valves 10 to which are connected pipes 11. The
lpipes 11 are connected to transparent containers 12 that vary in sizes as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 and which are adapted to receive a supply of liquid from the supply pipes heretofore mentioned by opening the valves 10. rThe containers 12 may vary in sizes from a container capable of holding iifteen gallons down to a quart or the like.
The valves 13 are connected to the lower ends of the containers by means of pipes 14 and have connected thereto outlet pipes 15 which extend through openings in the member 'and are connected to T-couplings 1(5. The T-couplings 16 are connected by a plurality of pipe sections 17, the outer one ot the series extending through the legs 2 forming a support for the lower ends of the containers. One of the outer pipe sections has threaded thereto a closure cap 18 while the other outer section is screw threaded as illustrated at 19 for the purpose of having a hose or the like connected thereto so that the liquid passing from the containers may be dispensed into an automobile or other device. formed thereon internally threaded boes 20 to which are threaded plugs 21 having conical openings 22. Rods 23 extend through the conical openings 22 and have secured to ytheir lower ends conical shaped floats 24 Each of the containers 12 have' cured to the upper ends of the rods 23 for the purpose of limiting the downward movement of the floats within the containers.
In operation, the containers are filled by opening the valves 10 and after they have been filled, the valves 10 are closed cutting oif the supply of liquid. When a certain amount of liquid is desired, such as ten gallons or the like, the corresponding container is manipulated by operating its re- .spective valve 13 permitting the contents thereof to How therefrom into the outlet pipe 17 whence it may be gathered in a suit able receptacle from the screw threaded end 19 or be dispensed into the tank of an automobile or the like.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be noted that a device has been provided whereby a person may readily determine that he is receiving the vcorrect amount of liquidby noticing the condition of the container before starting the dispensing operation and upon the entire amount of the liquid being'dispensed from the respective container, the purchaser is assured that he has received the exact amount of liquid, as the containers are transparent so that the amounts of liquid within the containers can at all times be determined.
While l have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood, that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made, Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim is:
A measuring device comprising vertically disposed and relatively spaced supporting legs, upper and lower relatively spaced longitudinally extending members connecting said legs and having spaced alining openings, inlet and outlet pipes extending through the openings of the upper and lower members respectively, transparent measuring receptacles of dierent sizes connecting the inlet and outlet pipes, valves controlling the flow of fluid through said pipes, lcollars formed on the inlet pipes and resting on the upper longitudinal member for supporting ,the receptacles, means supplying Huid to the inlet pipes and a main outlet pipe connected to the outlet pipes.
