GAME=COUNTER F0? SREBBAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 332,135, dated December 8, 1885.
Application filed June 29, 1885. Serial No. 170,217.
To a. whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES F. BOGAN, acitizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cribbage Boards and Game- Gounters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved cribbage board or game-counter for cards,billiards, &c.
The invention consists of a thin plate of metal in which are several slots extending nearly the whole length of the plate. Each two slots are connected together at one end by a curved portion, so as to make the slot continuous at that end. \Vithin these slots are placed buttons, each having a contracted neck and fitted to slide freely in the slots without danger of escaping from the plate. The said plate is attached to a thin block or backing, preferably of wood,having grooves arranged underneath the slots in the plate.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan or top view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line or a; of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents the button or stud.
A is a thin plate of metal, in which are out several slots, U 0, connected together at one end, so as to make a continuous passage from one to the other, the opposite ends being closed. The plate A is attached to a block, B, made preferably of wood, and having grooves or recessesa. a,eXtending underneath the slots 0 O, to allow of the free passage of the lower portion of the buttons.
(No model.)
thetwo connected slots at one side ofthe board, 45
are to contain mostly white studs b, evey fifth one, 0, being of a dark color, and the two connected slots on the opposite sides are to contain mostly dark studs 1), every fifth one, 0, being of a light color.
The studs may he made of metal, wood, rubher, or any other suitable material.
It will be seen that by connecting the ends of the slots there will bea continuous passage from one to the other.
At the center of the board, and parallel with the double connected slots, is a single slot, 0, containing studs for indicating the number of games played.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A Cribbage board and gamecounter consisting of a metal plate, A, attached to a suitable back, B, and provided with two or more continuous parallel slots, 0, in combination with the movable studs 1) c, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses JAMES F. BOGAN.
