Description

(1 l.) 0 e 0. A. DAVENPORT now 0. A BACON.
AAAAAAAA LE SPOUT FOR MILK FAILS- No. 330,003. Patented Nov. 10, 1885.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLOTTE AUGUSTA DAVENPORT, (REMARRIEDQ NOW CHARLOTTE AUGUSTA BACON, OF CHARLTON DEPOT, MASSACHUSETTS.
DETACHABLE SPOUT FOR MILK-PAILS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,003, dated November 10, 1885.
Application filed September 16, 1884. Serial No. 143,247. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Mrs. C. A. DAVENPORT, of Charlton Depot, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a Detachable Spout for Pail-Strainers, Coffee- Pots, and Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification.
The special object of the invention is to so construct the joint that the spout may be easily removable, so as to uncover the strainer and allow it to be thoroughly cleaned. In order to accomplish this, it is necessary to preserve the joint water-tight and to hold the spout without being tightly fastened.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a strainer-pail with my invention applied. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section thereof across the spout, strainer, and auxiliary strips. Fig. 3is an inside perspective detail view of the spout, showing the edge flange. Fig. 4 is a detail plan view, which is nearly or quite a counterpart in shape of the rubber strip.
In the drawings, A represents the pail; D, the rubber packing provided with rivet-holes d; C, the auxiliary metallic strip, and B the spout-blank. The strips 0 D are held to the body of pail A by rivets E. The spout B is made with an inwardly-turned edge, b, which to manual force in a downward direction, so
as to be readily slipped off whenever it is desired to clean the strainer.
It will thus be perceived I have a watertight joint, and yet one that will admit of the removal of the spout,so that the strainer may be always kept thoroughly clean.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my inventi0n,what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with a pail, of a spout having the turned edge 12, the metallic strip C, and the rubber packing D, the parts C D being made fast to the pail, while the spout is detachably held, substantially as described.
CHARLOTTE AUGUSTA DAVENPORT.
