(Cl. 249-24) The present invention generally relates to construction equipment, and is more particularly concerned with scaffolding for suspending forms from structural beams of the type having vertical webs and laterally extending horizontal upper ilanges, such as for example, I-beams.
One of the primary objects of the instant invention is to provide scaiolding for suspending forms both between the structural beams and centilevered laterally outward from the endmost beam in a manner so as to enable the pouring of a continuous concrete deck having a substantial cantilevered overhang relative to the supporting structural beams.
Another significant object of the instant invention is to provide a suspension device w-hich enables a utilization of the scaffold bracket shown in applicants Patent No. 3,044,573 in the formation of the overhanging portio of the poured deck.
Furthermore, it is a signilicant object of the instant invention to incorporate various adjustable features so as to insure a proper, rapid and convenient levelling of the deck forms.
Also, it is a significant object of the instant invention to provide a form suspending device which, both itself can be easily stripped and which also allows a simple stripping of the form boards.
Basically, the device of the instant invention includes hanger straps which are supported transversely across the structural beams and which have, suspended from opposite ends thereof, vertically elongated mounting members. These mounting members are of two types, the iirst type having mounted thereon an outwardly cantilevered bracket which in turn has vertically adjustable form supports thereon so as to form the supporting structure for forms used in the pouring of an overhang or cantilevered portion of a deck. The other type of vertically elongated mounting member is utilized between the structural beams for the support of one end of form structure which is extended between the beams, this member also including means for vertically adjusting the form boards by raising or lowering the respective ends thereof. Likewise, the instant invention also contemplates the provision of a speciic suspension for properly orientating the grade boards relative to the form joists which will extend between the structural beams, this suspension eliminating both the time and material waste normally encountered when utilizing conventional methods in xing grade boards in vertically adjusted positions relative to the form joists.
A still further object of the instant invention is to provide a suspension means for forms which, in addition to being completely adjustable, is relatively simple in construction, easy to .both install and remove, does not damage the actual form lumber thus allowing the lumber to be re-used on subsequent set-ups, and can be dismantled and compacted for shipment or storage, while at the same time providing, in its erected position, a highly stable and safe construction.
These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being Ihad to the accompanying drawings forming a part thereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Referring now more specifically t0 the drawings, it will be noted that the device of the instant invention is particularly adapted for -use in conjunction with structural I-beams 10 which include vertical webs 12 and laterally projecting horizontal upper and lower anges 14 and 16.
Basically, the device includes hangers 18, in the form of elongated bars, supported on and extending transversely across the upper ilanges 14 of the beams 10, these hangers 18 having a vertically elongated mounting member depending from each end thereof, each mounting member having, rigidly mounted thereon, a plurality of form supporting saddles 20 carrying form beams l22, thereby eiecting a supporting or suspension of the forms from the I-beams 10.
The vertically elongated mounting members are of two types, one type designated by reference numeral 24, being utilized along the outer face of the outermost beam 10 and being particularly adapted for the support of a cantilevered scaifold bracket 26 similar to the bracket shown in Patent No. 3,044,573, this bracket 26 and mounting chamber 24 being utilized in the formation of a cantilevered or overhung portion of a poured concrete deck 28. The other type of vertically elongated mounting member designated by reference numeral 30, depends from the corresponding hanger 18 along the inner faces of the bea-ms 10 and, in conjunction with a similar mounting member 30 on an adjacent beam 10, supports the intermediate form boards at the opposite ends thereof.
Each han-ger 18 consists of an elongated tlat bar of a length so as to project laterally -beyond both edges of the upper flange 14 Aof the corresponding beam 10. As will be appreciated from FIGURE l, the hanger 18 is supported slightly above the upper surface of the corresponding top tlange 14 by a pair of rod-like feet or spacers 32 which allow for -a ilowing o-f the poured concrete between the hanger 1S and ange 14 so as to effect a complete embedding of the hanger 18. Each end of each of the hangers 18 is provided with a vertical hole there throngh and a nut 34 welded to the upper surface thereof in surrounding relationship to the lhole. Extending vertically through, and adjustably threaded within the nuts 34, are suspension bolts 36, each having the lower end thereof supporting one of the vertically elongated'mounting members, either 24 or 30.
Refer-ring `first to the mounting member 24, it will be noted that this member is in t-he for-m of an elongated rectangular tube 38 having an open lower end 40 and an upper end closed -by =a plate 42 welded therein. Welded to the upper surface of the plate 42 is an angle member 44 which, -in the installed position of the member 24 as illustrated in FIGURE l, projects laterally from the tube 38 toward the structural beam web y12 and terminates, at
Patented Nov. 22, 1966 Y its inner edge, in an opstanding leg 46 which is to be engaged against the undersurface of the upper ange 14. Welded t-o the horizontal portion of the angle member 44 is a downwardly opening channel section 48. The plate 42, horizontal portion of the angle member 44, and web portion of the channel section 48 .are provided with vertically aligned apertures therethrough for -the reception of the suspending bolt 36, this -bolt 36 being provided with a suitable head or enlargement t) on the lower end thereof, this enlargement 50 engaging against the undersurface of the plate 42 and thereby suspending the tube 38 on the -bolt 36. It will Ibe appreciated from FIGURE 4, that one side .face of the tube 38 is provided with an opening or cut-out portion 52 so as to allow convenient access to the threaded bolt 36 yfor either -a removal of the .bolt 36 or a vertical adjustment of the mounting .member 24 through the bolt 36. For this purpose, the bolt head 5t) will of course .be provided with a tool receiving cong'uration. It is through this bolt that the clamping of the beam flange 14 `between the hanger 18 and the rigid vertical leg 46 is elfected, tbis'leg 46 spacing the upper end of the tube 38 from the flange 14 so yas to allow for the' reception of the deck |forming boards 54 under the upper. flan-ge 14. The inverted channels 48, welded to the upper end of the tube 38, are yof particular significance in stabilizing the mounting member 24 and avoidingany tendency for the upper end thereof to creep outwardly under a heavyload applied to the outermost end of the bracket 26.
` Extending transversely through and outwardly beyond the tube 38 is an elongated tie rod 56, this tie rod 56 being located between the upper andV lower ends of the tube 38 which in turn is reinforced 4by a first fiat plate 58 welded to both the tube 38 and the head of the rod'56, and a second plate 60 welded to the opposite side of the tube 38 immediately below the rod 56.
Adjacent the lower end thereof, the tube 38 is provided with a bracket stabilizing U-shaped member 62 which has the lbight portion thereof welded to the tube 38 with the two legs thereof projecting .parallel to and in the same direction as the projecting end of the rod 56.
Turning now specically to the scaffold bracket 26, Vit will be appreciated that this bracket closely resembles the bracket of Patent N o. 3,044,57-3 in that it includes Irigidly interconnected horizontal, vertical and diagonal angle members 64, 66 and 68, along with an eccentric lock 70 which is rotated, through a handle 72, so as to clamp a tie rod, in this case rod V56, against ya horizontal plate 74 located immediately therebelow, and thereby suspending the bracket 26 on the rod 56. The joint between the lower ends of the vertical and diagonal angle members 66 and 68 is enclosed within an angle 76 which has the vertical leg 78 thereof abutting against the tube 38 below the stabilizing legs of the U-shaped member 62, the vertical angle member 66 being received between the legs, thus yrestricting the lower end of the bracket 26 against lateral movement, the weight Iof the superimposed load retaining the an-gle member 66 between these legs. The joint between the upper end of the angle member 66 and the inner end of the angle member 64 is also enclosed within Ian :angle 80, this angle 80 being transversely elongated and including a horizontal ange 82 overlying the horizontal member 64 and a vertical flange 84 abutting the tube 38 directly above the tie rod 56.
Four form supporting saddles are supportedrby the scaffold bracket 26, two Iat the inner end thereof and two at the outer end thereof. The two saddles 20 at the inner end of the bracket 26 are adjustably supported thereabove -by depending threaded rods 86 rotatably received through a pair of vertically aligned apertures in a transversely extending tubular base 88, each threaded rod 86 being vertically adjustable by .a nut 90 threaded thereonv and bearing against the upper surface of the'tubular base 88. The base 88 is supported, through two rod-like spacing legs $2, on the upper ange 82 of the angle `8(10 as v laterally extending -apertured portion 96 through which the bolt 98 extends so as to secure the base member 88 to the horizontal angle member 64.`
The outer two saddles 20 arealso supported for vertical adjustment Aby threaded rods 86 extending through the outer end portions of a transversely extending tubular base 108, nuts likewise being utilized for achieving the vertical adjustment of these oruter saddles 20.4 The base 100 differs from the base 88 in that it is provided with, noting FIGURE 6, an angle member having the horizontal leg 102 thereof welded to the undersurface of the base 10i) and the vertical leg `104 thereof interposed within the joint between the horizontal angle member 64 and the diagonal angle member 68.
The form beams 22 extend transversely of the saddles 20 and are supported therein, these beams 22 receiving outwardly projecting form joists 106 which in turn support the cantilevered portions 1108 vof the deck forms and any external working platform 110 which might be needed. The joists 106 and portions 108 having their inner ends engaged under the upper I-bearn flange 14.
Incidentally, while not specifically mentioned supra,
mounting a wooden stripping bracket, generally indicated in phantom lines and referred to by reference numeral 112, this stripping bracket, or at least the vertical post` therefor being slipped within the lower end of the tube 38 and nailed through the holes 114. A link ch-ain 116 having one end thereof welded to the tube 38 for use in mounting the stripping bracket 112 is also provided,r
the opposite end of the chain 116 being releasably received within the hook forming plate 118.
The second type of vertically elongated mounting mem-ly fber, generally indicated by reference numeral 30, is utilized for the adjustable supporting of one end of the form work which extends between adjoining structural beams 10, the opposite end `of the form work of course lbeing similarly supported, as best seen in FIGURE 1. This mounting member 30 consists of a vertically elongated channel member 118 having a iiat plate 120 welded to the upper end thereof and receiving a threaded rod 122 therethrough, this rod 122 having a tool receiving head 124 thereon engaged lagainst the inner -face of the plate and supporting the channel member 118 sfor vertical adjustment upon a rotation of the bolt 122 which is threaded within the nut 34 welded to the hanger 18.
Also welded to the upper end of the channel member 118, land projecting laterally therefrom inwardly toward the web 12 of the beam 10, is the angle membert126;
the vertical leg 128 of which is brought into clamping 1 `engagement with the vlower surface of the horizontal beam ange 14 by an adjustment of the bolt 122.

ralong the two sides thereof, are a pair of extensions or extending portions 130, each of these portions 130-hav-` ing, on the outer end thereof, adjustable extensions Vformed of rods 132 adjustably threaded therein for selec-` tive longitudinal extension and retraction, t-hese rods 132 having enlanged bearing heads 134 on the'outer ends` thereof lfor abutting engagement with the beam web 12 so las to eiect a plumbing of the mounting member 30 with the lower end thereof in substantial vertical align-` ment with the upper end which in turn is clamped to the upper flange 14.
Welded to the channel member 118 and extending transversely thereacross on the inwardly facing side thereof, that is the side directed toward the adjacent structural beam 10, is an elongated tubular base member 136, this base member 136 adjustably mounting a pair of saddles 20 vertically thereabove through depending threaded rods 138. These rods 138, 4as will be appreciated Ifrom the drawings, extend through vertically aligned holes 140 adjacent the opposite ends of a base 136 and are both vertically adjusted and maintained in a vertically adjusted position by nuts =142 threaded thereon and bearing against the upper surface of the base 136. This base 136 can, if so desired, or deemed necessary, .be additionally stabilized by a diagonally extending brace 144.
These last mentioned saddles 20 receive and support a transversely extending :form beam 22 which in turn supports, on its upper edge, one end of a plurality of form joists 146 which extend between adjacent structural beams and have their other ends similarly supported by a simil-arly constructed suspension device.
As will be appreciated, the accurate setting of the grade of the deck forms 148 between the I-beams 10 requires the use of grade boards 150. In order to adjustably support these grade boards 150 without nailing the grade boards 150 to the form joists 146, the instant invention contemplates the use of unique grade board supports or suspensions, FIGURE 7 being a perspective view of such a suspension. These suspensions each consist of a first at rectangular plate 152 having a pair of spaced parallel depending panels 154 welded to opposite edges thereof so 'as to form a downwardly opening slot which receives the upper edge of one of the joists 146 therein. Extending outwardly in opposite directions from approximately mid-height on the panels 154 are a pair of coplanar horizontal panels 156, these panels 156 in turn being provided with upwardly projecting vertical flanges 158 slightly inward of the outer edges thereof so as to form a pair of upwardly opening slots for the reception of a pair of grade boards 150 therein. In order to elect a vertical adjustment of each suspension device, and consequently, the two grade boards 150 associated therewith, a bolt 160 is threadedly received through the center of the flat plate 152. This bolt 160 bears, through an enlarged head 162, on the upper surface of the joist receive within the downwardly opening slot, whereby an extension of the bolt into the downwardly opening slot will result in a raising of the two corresponding grade boards, and conversely, a retraction of the bolt out of the downwardly opening slot will result in a lowering of both the suspension and the grade boards. In this manner, a proper levelling of the deck forms 148 can be quickly and conveniently achieved without the difficulties normally encountered in attempting to nail the grade boards to the joists. Incidentally, in view of the extreme importance attached to a proper levelling of the deck forms 148, it is contemplated that a hole, 164 be provided over each of the adjusting bolts 160, these holes being of a size sulicient so as to accommodate a speed wrench socket. In this manner, any nal adjust ments can be made, or mistakes rectilied, without the necessity of removing the deck forms 148. It will of course be appreciated that this hole will be covered before the final placing of the concrete.
From the foregoing, it will be appreciated that a highly novel device has been devised for suspending forms from structural I-beams, this device enabling the pouring of a complete deck including a cantilevered or overhanging portion with the form work being supported solely from the I-beams in a convenient and easily erected manner which allows for a rapid stripping of both the suspension device and the forms themselves. Basically, the device of the instant invention, as described in detail supra, contemplates the hanging of vertically elongated mounting members adjacent opposite sides of the structural beams through the use of a hanger which spans the top of the beam, this hanger constituting the only portion of the entire device which is not retrieved subsequent to the pouring of the deck. These mounting members are of two types, a first type which mounts a scaiold bracket for the formation of the overhanging portion of the deck, and a second type incorporating a saddle rigid therewith for supporting one end of the portion of the form work which extends between adjacent structural beams. In addition, the instant invention includes, in order to provide forthe final levelling of the deck forms, a grade board suspensions which are adjustable, and thereby cooperate with the adjustable saddles so as to achieve the exact elevation desired for the deck forms.
The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
1. A grade hoard suspension device for adjustably mounting form grade boards relative to an adjacent parallel joist, said device comprising a iiat relatively short horizontal plate positionable transversely across said joist, a pair of depending panels secured to opposite edges of said plate so as to form a downwardly opening slot for t-he reception of the joist, a pair of horizontal panels, one horizontal panel rigid with and extend-ing -outwardly from each depending panel in a plane below the horizontal plate for positioning below a grade board, a pair of vertical anges, one flange frigid with and extending upwardly trom each horizontal pa-nel at a point spaced outwardly from the corresponding depending panel so as to form an upwardly opening slot therebetween for the reception of a grade board, a levelling bolt extending vertically and centrally downward through the horizontal plate and into the downwardly opening slot, the lower end of said bolt terminating in a bearing head engageable in abutting relationship against said joist, and thread mens integral with said plate for threadingly receiving said bolt, said thread means enabling a selective extension and retraction of the bolt within the downward opening, so as to vary the height of the horizontal plate above said joist, and thereby the height of the board carrying upwardly opening slots, said levelling bolt lbearing hea-d being integral therewith and laterally enlarged relative to said bolt, said bearing head including a downwardly directed flat face providing a stable support surface.
2. A grade board suspension device for adjustably mounting form grade boards relative to an adjacent parallel joist, said device comprising a flat relatively short horizontal plate positionable transversely across said joist, a pair of depending panels secured to opposite edges of said plate so as to form a downwardly opening slot for the reception of the joist, a pair of horizontal panels, one horizontal panel rigid with and extending outwardly from each depen-ding panel in a plane -below t-he horizontal plate for positioning below a grade board, a pair of vertical tlanges, one -flan-ge rigid with and extending upward'ly from each horizontal panel at a point spaced outwardly for the corresponding depending panel so as to form a-n upwardly opening slot therebetween for the reception of a grade board, a levelling 'bolt extending vertically and centrally downward through the horizontal plate and into the downwardly opening slot, the lower end of said bolt terminating in a bearing hea-d engageable in abutting relationship agaist said joist, and thread means interconnecting the bolt and plate for varying the extension of the bolt into the downwardly opening slot so as to vary the height of the horizontal plate above said joist, and thereby the height of the board carrying upwardly opening slots, said grade board receiving horizontal panels being coplana-r, said -depending panels projecting a substantial distance below said horizontal panels so as to define a deep downwardly opening slot enabling a vertical adjustment of the horizontal panels up to and 7 above the joist while maintaining the stability of the suspension device. Y
3. The structure of claim 2 wherein said levelling bolt bearing head is substantially enlarged relative to said bolt and includes a downwardly directed flat face providing a stable support surface.
4. The construction of claim 14 wherein said upward-ly opening slots have coplanar inner ends located in upwardly spacedvre-lation to t-he open outer end of the downwardly opening slot, said bolt having an enlarged bearing head on the lower end thereof.
`5. For use in suspending .forms from structural beams, a hanger soporta-ble transversely across the upper edge of a structural beam means xing the hanger to the beam, a vertical mounting member suspended from one end of sai-d Ihanger for positioning along the corresponding side of the beam, means on said mounting member for stabilizing the lower end thereof relative to the bea-m and in general vertical alignment with the upper end thereof, a horizontal base member rigid-ly fixed to said vertical mounting member between t-h-e upper and lower ends thereof, upwardly directed 'form beam supporting means located vertically above said base member, and means mounting said supporting means on said base member for vertical adjustment relative thereto for the vertical adjustment of both a supported form 'beam and the form superstructure mounted thereon.
6. For use in suspending forms from elongated struetuiral beams of the type having a vertical web and a horizontal upper ange projecting laterally beyond the web, a vertically elongated mounting member positionable outwardly from and generally parallel to the web of the beam, hanger means .positionable over the horizontal flange of the beam, a lateral projection fixed to the upper end of the mounting member and engageable with the undersurface of the tlange, adjustable bolt means interconnecting t-he hanger means and the mounting member for drawing the hanger means and lateral projection on the mounting member into clam-ping engagement with the beam ange, a laterally projecting extension on the lower end of the mounting member, said extension being longitudinally extensible for engagement with the beam web, a horizontal base member rigidly fixed to the mounting member and extending transversely thereacross between the upper and lower ends thereof, upwardly directed form supporting saddle means located vertically above the base member, and means mounting said saddle means on the base member for vertical adjustment relative thereto.
7. For use in suspending forms from structural beams of the type having longitudinally extending laterally projecting upper flanges, a hanger s-upportable transversely across a 'beam upper ange in a manner so as to project beyond both edges thereof, a pai-r of vertical mounting members, adjustable suspension means suspending one mounting member from each end of the hanger, said mounting members being positionable on yopposite sides of the beam, each mounting member including, at the upper end thereof, a rigid portion projecting inwardly for engagement beneath the beam upper flange, said adjustable suspension means being operable so as to effect an upward drawing 'of the mounting member and a clamping of the beam an'ge 'between the hanger and the inwardly f projecting rigid portions, at xleast one of said mounting members being vertically elongated, means on said one mounting member for stabilizing the lower end thereof in generally vertical alignment with the upper end thereof, a horizontal base member rigidly fixed to said vertical Vmounting member between the upper and lower ends thereof, said base member extending transversely across said vertical member so as to generally parallel t-he 1ongi tudinal axis of the beam, upwardly `directed form supporting saddle means locatedV vertically above the base member, and means mounting said saddle means on the base member for vertical adjustment relative thereto.
8. The construction of claim 7 wherein the second of said mounting members is vertically elongated, an elongated tie rod secured to said second mounting member between the upper and lower ends thereof, said tie rod projecting laterally outward from said second member, a scaffold bracket, said bracket including a horizontal leg and a vertical leg rigid with one end of said horizontal leg and depending therefrom, said vertical leg being positionable adjacent to and generally parallel with said second member, the upper portion of said bracket being `xedly enageable with the tie rod, a pair of spaced outwardly projecting limit arms fixed to said second member below said tie rod, said vertical leg being positionable between said arms so as to confine said vertical leg against lateral movement, said bracket thereby being cantilevered outwardly from said second member, upwardly directed form Lsupporting saddle means, and means mounting said last mentioned saddle means on said horizontal leg lfor vertical adjustment thereabove.
9. The construction of claim `8 wherein said secondV threaded bolt, an internally threaded nut fixed to the hanger, said bolt 'being threaded within said nut and depending therefrom through said yat plate, and means fixed to the lower end of the bolt and engaged with the inner surface of the plate so as to form a support'for the tubular second member.
10. The construction lof claim 7 wherein the means for stabilizing the lower end of said one mounting member consists of an inwardly projecting rigid member fixed to the lower end of said one mounting member, andan adjustable extension o'n the inner end of -this ri-gid member for abutting engagement with the beam.
11. For use in combination with a pair of parallel structural beams of the type having longitudinally extending laterally projecting upper anges, means .for suspending forms, said means consisting of a pair of hangers, one supported on and transversely across each beam upper ange in general alignment with each other, a vertical mounting member suspende-d from the inner end of each hanger along the inwardly facing side of leach beam,
means tixing the hangers to the corresponding beamy flanges, means on each mounting member for stabilizing said member relative to its beam, a pair of generally parallel horizontal 'base members, each base member being rigidly fixed to and extending transversely across the inner face of a mounting member, upwardly directed form supporting saddle means located vertically above each base member, means mount-ing the saddle means on the base members for vertical adjustment relative thereto, a form beam extending generally parallel` to the structural beams, supported 'in each saddle means, form joists extending transversely between the structural beams and having their opposite ends supported on said form beams, and deck forms supportedv on and over said form joists.
12. The construction of claim 11 including form grade boards extending parallel to said yform joists, and Vgrade board suspensions carrying said grade boards and f mounted on said'joists for vertical adjustment relative thereto so as tovaryvtheelevation of the grade boards` t relative to the joists.
13. The Vconstruction of claim 12 wherein eac-h grade 14. The construction -of claim 13 wherein the vertical` adjustment of each suspension, and thus the grade boards' associated therewith, is achieved through a ybolt depending into the downwardly opening slot and into abutting engagement with the upper edge of a joist received therein, and means for varying the amount of extension of the bolt into the ydownwardly opening slot.

The construction of claim 11 wherein the means for stabilizing each mounting member lrelative to its structural 'beam consists of a laterally projecting rigid portion on the upper end of said member engaged with the undersurface of t-he beam upper ilange, and a lateral rigid extension on the lower end of said member projecting toward the structural beam and having a longitudinally extensible end portion thereon for abutting engagement with the structural beam.
16. The construction of claim 15 including a second generally vertical mounting member suspended from lche outer end of one of said hangers along the outwardly facing side of the corresponding structural beam, means stabilizing said second mounting member relative to its structural beam, an elongated tie rod xed to the second member between the upper and lower ends thereof, said tie rod projecting laterally outward from said second member, a cantileveredbracket, said bracket including a Igenerally horizontal leg and a vertical leg rigid with one end of said horizontal leg and depending therefrom, said vertical leg being positioned adjacent to and generally parallel with said second member, the upper portion of said bracket being xedly engaged with the tie rod, means projecting outwardly from said second member below the tie rod, said last mentioned means receiving and restricting lateral movement of the vertical leg of the bracket, upwardly directed form supporting saddle means, means mounting said last mentioned saddle means on said 'horizontal bracket leg for vertical adjustment thereabove, and `form boards mounted in and over said last mentioned saddle means.

1. A GRADE BOARD SUSPENSION DEVICE FOR ADJUSTABLY MOUNTING FROM GRADE BOARDS RELATIVE TO AN ADJACENT PARALLEL JOIST, SAID DEVICE COMPRISING A FLAT RELATIVELY SHORT HORIZONTAL PLATE POSITIONABLE TRANSVERSELY ACROSS SAID JOIST, A PAIR OF DEPENDING PANELS SECURED TO OPPOSITE EDGES OF SAID PLATE SO AS TO FORM A DOWNWARDLY OPENING SLOT FOR THE RECEPTION OF THE JOIST, A PAIR OF HORIZONTAL PANELS, ONE HORIZONTAL PANEL RIGID WITH AND EXTENDING OUTWARDLY FROM EACH DEPENDING PANEL IN A PLANE BELOW THE HORIZONTAL PLATE FOR POSITIONING BELOW A GRADE BOARD, A PAIR OF VERTICAL FLANGES, ONE FLANGE RIGID WITH AND EXTENDING UPWARDLY FROM EACH HORIZONTAL PANEL AT A POINT SPACED OUTWARDLY FROM THE CORRESPONDING DEPENDING PANEL SO AS TO FORM AN UPWARDLY OPENING SLOT THEREBETWEEN FOR THE RECEPTION OF A GRADE BOARD, A LEVELLING BOLT EXTENDING VERTICALLY AND CENTRALLY DOWNWARD THROUGH THE HORIZONTAL PLATE AND INTO THE DOWNWARDLY OPENING SLOT THE LOWER END OF SAID BOLT TERMINATING IN A BEARING HEAD ENGAGEABLE IN ABUTTING RELATIONSHIP AGAINST SAID JOIST, AND THREAD MENS INTEGRAL WITH SAID PLATE FOR THREADINGLY RECEIVING SAID BOLT, SAID THREAD MEANS ENABLING A SELECTIVE EXTENSION AND RETRACTION OF THE BOLT WITHIN THE DOWNWARD OPENING, SO AS TO VARY THE HEIGHT OF THE HORIZONTAL PLATE ABOVE SAID JOIST, AND THEREBY THE HEIGHT OF THE BOARD CARRYING UPWARDLY OPENING SLOTS, SAID LEVELLING BOLT BEARING HEAD BEING INTEGRAL THEREWITH AND LATERALLY ENLARGED RELATIVE TO SAID BOLT, SAID BEARING HEAD INCLUDING A DOWNWARDLY DIRECTED FLAT FACE PROVIDING A STABLE SUPPORT SURFACE.
