SEECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 325,116, dated August 25, 1885.
Application filed Gotcha-18,1884.
vention. Fig. 2 represents a top or plan view thereof. Fig. 8 represents a vertical section t thereof. Fig. 4 represents a view of a detached portion.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
My invention consists of a combined foot stool and footwarn'ler formed of detachable parts, and provided with means for warming the heels as well as the other parts of the feet, as will he hereinafter fully set forth.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a base, on which is removably supported a box, 13, and 0 represents a footstool, which is removably supported on said box B. The base A has a flange, a, which circumscribes the box B, whereby the latter is prevented from lateral displacement, and the frame of the stool G has a flange, b, for preventing shifting of the foot-stool, it being noticed that the latter has a foot-supporting portion, 0, and a heel-supporting cross-bar, 07, both suitably upholstered, the stool beingset at a slope or inclination for properly sustaining the feet thereon.
W'ithin the lower part of the box 13 is a pan or case, D, for containing hot water, it being seen that the upper wall of said pan l forms a rest for the feet when thelatterarcin' sorted in the box B to be warmed.
The portion of the box above the pan D is lined with sheepskin, felt, fur, &c., in theform of pockets E, which are warmed by heatfrom the pan 1), and adapted to receive the main portion of the feet.
The box is provided with a door, F, which closes the pockets E, and to the same are connected curved pieces G, adapted to inclose the heels of the feet, and when not in use to be folded within the pockets E. Springs H, formed of rubber bands or coiled i (No model.)
wire, are attached to the doorF and the sides of the box in order to hold the pieces G when in use against the heels, and when not in use to draw the same within the pockets E.
The door F is made in two parts, the pieces G being attached to the lower part thereof, so that when the warmer is in use the upper part of the door remains open to provide a space for the legs. J represents a door connected with the box for covering and uncovering the pan D.
It will be seen that when the parts are in position shown in Figs. 1 and .2 a foot-stoolis provided, and when the pan is filled with hot water and the door Fis opened the hecl-pieces G may be drawn out and the feet then inserted in the pockets E. The pieces G then close around the heels, and thus all parts of the feet may be nicely warmed.
The foot-stool may be removed should it he desired to use thewarmerinacarriage, sleigh, 82c. and the base A may alsobe removed for p urposcs of transportation, storage, &c.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1.. A combined foot stool and warmer consisting of a box with a warming-pan therein, a detachable base, and a detachable foot stool, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A foot-warmer provided with pockets adapted to receive the main portion of the feet, and separate pieces connected with the sides of the pockets by springs for closing around the heels thereof, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
3. A foot-warmer, in combination with a foot-rest sustained thereon, provided with a heel-supporting cross-bar, substantiallyas and for the purpose set forth.
4.. A combined foot stool and warmer con sisting of a box having within the same a warming-pan and pockets, the latter being above the former, a base, and a foot-stool provided with a heel-rest, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
HERMANN SACK.
