Y NITED STATES OFFICE,
WILLIAM H. BROMLEY AND PHILIP J. GATELY, OF BROOKLYN, N. Y.
ADJUSTABLE SCRAPER FOR CRACKER-MACHINE FEED-ROLLERS.
EPECIFI'OAI'ION forming part of Letters Patent No. 324,529, dated August 18, 1885.
Application filed March 19. 1885. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that we, \VILLIAM H. BROM- LEY and PHILIP J. GATELY, both of Brooklyn, E. D., in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Adjustable Scrapers for Cracker-Machine Feed-Rollers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification,
in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is a sectional elevation of our in1 proved scrapers, shown as applied to the feedrollers of a cracker-machine. Fig. 2 isa plan View of a part of the same. Fig. 3 is a view of the rear edge of the scraper-plate.
The object of this invention is to provide a simple and effective mechanism for keeping the feed-rollers of cracker-machines free from dough.
The invention consists in the combination, with the frame and the feed-rollers of a cracker-machine, of arms, bars carried by the said arms and having deep grooves in their inner edges and scraper-plates placed in the said I grooves and provided with eyes, to which are swiveled the ends of screws I, passing in through screw-holes in the rear edges of the said bars, whereby the said feed-rollers can be kept clear of dough, as will be hereinafter fully described and then claimed.
A represents the frame, B the upper feed roller, and O thelowerieed roller, of a crackermachine.
To the journalbearings of the rollers B O, or to the frame A, are attached, or upon them are formed, arms D, to the outerends of which are attached, or upon them are formed, the ends of bars E. The bars E extend across the machine, and have deep grooves Fformed in them to receive the scraper-plates G Upon one side of the rear part of the scraper-plates G are formedpr to them are attacheiteyes H, through which pass and to which areswiveled the reduced forward ends ofthe screws I. The screws Ipass in through screw-holes in the rear edges of the grooved bars or holders E, so that the scraper-plates G can be adjusted closer to or farther from the rollers B C by turning the said screws I. With this construction the rollers B O can be readily kept clean from adhering dough, andin proper working condition.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new. and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
The combination, with the feed-rollers, of the arms provided with the intermediate bars having grooves opening at their inner edges, the plates fitted in said grooves and having eyes upon the lower rear edges and the screws working in the intermediate bars and swiveled in the eyes of the said plates, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
WILLIAM H. BR'OMLEY. PHILIP J. GATELY.
