Description
Nov. 16, 1965 P. N. COLE JUICE CAN HOLDER AND DISPENSER Filed Aug. 1, 1965 m m m m United States Patent M 3,217,929 JUICE CAN HOLDER AND DISPENSER Perry N. Cole, Rte. 1, Box 7 6, Pendleton, Oreg. Filed Aug. 1, 1963, Ser. No. 299,230 1 Claim. (Cl. 222-835) The present invention relates to juice holders and juice can dispensers, and more particularly to a dispenser which may be readily assembled to a conventional juice can.
Primarily, this invention relates to a dispenser which preferably may be made out of sheet metal and which may be inexpensive to manufacture and easy to operate.
Another object of this invention is to provide a juice can dispenser with a hinged cover which may be provided with a cutting member to punch in the juice can an opening from which the contents of the can may be dispensed as desirable.
An additional object of this invention is to provide the cover with a prong or prongs which will punch an air vent or vents in the can.
A further object of this invention is to provide the juice can dispenser with hinges by means of which the dispenser may be folded for shipping purposes.
Another object of this invention is to provide the can dispenser with spring clips to help secure the can to the dispenser.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, references will be made to the accompanying drawings where like character numerals denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which:
FIG. 1 is a side elevational view of the present invention shown partially in section;
FIG. 2 is a section taken on the line 2-2 of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is the dispenser illustrated in FIG. 1 shown in folded position for shipping purposes.
It is to be understood that the present form of disclosure is merely for the purpose of illustration and that there might be devised various modifications thereof without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as herein set forth.
Referring now more particularly to the dispenser 10, best shown in FIG. 1, made in accordance with the present invention, comprising in combination, the dispenser body 11 preferably made out of light steel or sheet metal (galvanized or nickel plated); the hinged cover 12; the frame support 13; the upper spring clip 14; the lower spring clip 15; the handle frame 16; the handle 17; and the cover actuating member 18.
It can be seen that the cover 12 may be formed out of a substantially circular member having a downwardly extending shallow flange 12a. At the forward section hereof the cover 12 may be provided with the cutting member 19 which substantially extends downwardly and may be welded (riveted or soldered) to the cover 12 by means of its rectangular extension 19a. One (or more) 3,217,929 Patented Nov. 16, 1965 vertical prongs 20 may be disposed in the rearward section of the cover 12 which, by means of their pin-shaped extension 20a may be riveted over to the cover to secure the cover actuating member 18 to the cover 12, substantially as shown. The cover 12, by means of the hinge 21 may be hinged to the dispenser frame support 13 which in turn is hingeably mounted to handle frame 16 by means of hinge 22. A third hinge 23 which may be located in the lower section of the dispenser 10 may be mounted in such a fashion as to hingeably secure the frame 16 to the spring clip base 24. Furthermore, the spring clip base 24 may be provided with an L-shaped extension or leg 25 to support the can C, which by means of the spring clips 14 and 15 is readily held to the dispenser 10.
FIG. 3 shows the manner in which the dispenser shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, respectively, may be folded by means of the hinges 22 and 23 for shipping purposes.
A careful examination of the foregoing description in conjunction with the invention as illustrated in the drawings, will enable the reader to obtain a clear understanding and impression of the allege-d features of merit and novelty sufficient to clarify the construction of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
Minor changes in shape, size, materials and rearrangement of parts may be resorted to in actual practice as long as no departure is made from the invention claimed.
Having described my invention, what I claim is the following:
A container opening and pouring device comprising a cover having a top wall and a continuous flange depending from the edge thereof, a cutting member mounted on and depending from the top wall member adapted to cut a liquid pouring opening in the top wall of a container, prong means depending from the top wall member spaced from the cutting member adapted to pierce the top wall of the container to form air vent opening means therein, a cover actuating member mounted on and extending beyond the top wall member, a support member, a handle member, one end of the support member hingedly attached to the flange of the top wall member, the other end of the support member hingedly attached to the upper portion of the handle member, a resilient clip mounted on the support member, a second resilient clip hingedly attached to the lower portion of the handle member and an L-shaped leg mounted on and depending from the second resilient clip.
