Description

(no Model.)
E. BOURNB.
RANGE BOILER.
Patented Jul '7 1885.
EDWVARD BOURNE, OF ALLEGHENY, PENNSYLVANIA. I
RANGE-BOILER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 321,790, dated July '7, 1885.
Application filed November 28, 1884.
T0 ctZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD BoURNn, of Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Range -Boilers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention consists in combining with the ordinary kitchen or range boiler an auxiliary receiving boiler or chamber communicating with an ordinary heating apparatus, the Water-supply pipe communicating with said boiler in such manner that the watersnpply, in connection with the circulation caused by the heating process, causes an agitation of the water through the boiler, and at the same time heating the entire contents of the boiler, as will hereinafter more fully and at large appear.
To enable others skilled in the art with which my invention is most nearly connected to make and use it, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the drawings, A represents an ordinary kitchen or range boiler; B, an auxiliary boiler or chamber of much less capacity than the boiler A, and which communicates with the boiler A and with an ordinary water-heater, 0, through the medium of pipes D E. The auxiliary boiler or chamber is furnished with a drain-cock, F.
The water-supply G for the boilers A B passes down vertically through the boiler A and enters the boiler or chamber B, substantially as shown in the drawings; but I wish it distinctly understood that the water-supply G may enter the auxiliary boiler or chamber Bin such other way as may be desired by the practical plumber without departing from the principle of my invention.
H is a pipe communicating with the boiler A, and is used for the purpose of carrying the heated water to such part of the building as may be desired, and may be furnished with the usual attachments and appendages.
' The upper end of the auxiliary boiler or (No model.)
chamber B surrounds the pipe G, and is provided with openings of any desired form for the outlet of the heated water from the boiler or chamber B into the boiler A; but the boiler V or chamber 13 may terminate at the dot-ted line a with open end.
I wish it clearly understood that I do not confine myself to the exact construction and arrangement of the several parts herein described and shown in the drawings, as such construction and arrangement may be varied or modified to suit the judgment of the skillful plumber without departing from the principle of operation and essential feature of construction of my invention.
The essence or essential element of my invention consists in combining with the ordinary kitchen or range boiler an auxiliary boiler or chamber, whereby the entire contents of the boiler A will be heated.
Having thus described my improvement, what I claim is 1. The combination of a main and an auxiliary boiler, a heater, and circulating-pipes connecting the auxiliary boiler with the heater, substantially as described.
2. The combination of a main and an auxiliary boiler, a heater, circulating-pipes connecting the heater and the auxiliary boiler, and a supply-pipe extending through the main boiler into the auxiliary boiler to a point between the circulating-pipes, substantially as described.
3. The combination of a main and an auxiliary boiler, thc latter provided with a screen at its upper end and a drain-pipe at its lower end, a heater, and circulating-pipes connecting the heater with the auxiliary boiler, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 29th day of October, A. D. 1884.
EDWVARD BOURNE.
