Definitions
- My invention consists of a process of electrodepositing nickel by means of a solution of propionate of nickel.
- the articles to be plated with nickel are prepared and placed in the bath in the manner now commonly in use, and an electric current is passed through the bath in the ordinary manner.
- the solution gives best results at a strength of about 5 Baum. Any regular electric current will answer in the process;
- a current from a dynamo is preferable, and the strength of the current may Vary.
Description
UNITED STATES PATENT @FFICE.
JEAN A. MATHIEU, OF PORT LEYDEN, NEW YORK.
PROCESS OF ELECTRO-DEPOSITING NICKEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 320,377, dated June 16, 1885.
(No specimens.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that l, JEAN A. lVIATHIEU, of Port Leyden, in the county of Lewis and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Baths for Electro-Deposition of Nickel, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a process of electrodepositing nickel by means of a solution of propionate of nickel.
To make the bath I make a solution of propionate of nickel, either by dissolving oxide of nickel in propionic acid or in any other way of attaining the same result.
The articles to be plated with nickel are prepared and placed in the bath in the manner now commonly in use, and an electric current is passed through the bath in the ordinary manner. The solution gives best results at a strength of about 5 Baum. Any regular electric current will answer in the process;
but a current from a dynamo is preferable, and the strength of the current may Vary.
I do not claim in this application anything" JEAN A. MATHIEU. Witnesses:
