Description
A. JUDSON.
Lamp Burner.
No. 31,983. Patented A ru v9, 1861.
77 iii less es,
UNITED STATES PATENT onFIoE.
ANSON JUDSON, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
LAMP.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 31,983, dated April 9, 1861.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Anson J UDsoN, of the city of Brooklyn and State of New York,
have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lamps for Burning Kerosene, Coal, or SimilarOils; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact'description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, with letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in constructing the cone A of glass or other transparent material by which the whole flame is made serviceable, thereby causing an equal illumination with a less consumption of oil. The cone A necessarily rises from one half to five eighths of an inch above the base of the frame and if opaque must cause the loss of a considerable proportion of the light generated.
The construction is the same as the opaque metallic cones now in use, and will be readily understood byreferring to the accompanying drawing. 7
Figure l is a longitudinal elevation of a cone of my invention constructed of glass or other transparent material. Fig. 13 is a plan of the same. Fig. 2 is a general View of a lamp as arranged with a cone A and Wick tube B for burning kerosene or coal or similar oils. "I,
Having thusQI believe fully described my invention, I now set forth my claim. I do not claim any particular form of cone but What I do claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The construction of the cone A, or its equivalent of glass or other transparent material as and for the purpose herein described.
ANSON J UD'SON. Witnesses WM. 7. RoBINsoN, ALBERT BEERS.
