UNITED STATES PATENT Ottica.
JOHN V. HECKER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BOLTlNG-MACHINE FOR FLOUR-MILLS, SLG.
CECEICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 318,983, lated June 2, 1885.
Application filed January 23, 1885. (No model.)
To LZZ lah-0122, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN V. BECKER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and usefulV Improvements in Separatore or Sitting Apparatus for Milling Purposes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in bolting-machines for iiourniills or wherever separating or sifting is desired.
The invention will iirst be described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a plan or horizontal view of the sieve, frame, and moving mechanism. Fig. 2 is a length wise vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. fi is an end elevation. Fig. 5is a transverse section illustrating the manner of supporting the loose sieve by the supporting and vibrating frame.
A represents the sieve placed closely wit-hin the frame, so as to be readilyremovable whenever desired. B represents the frame for supporting the sieve. Suflieient space is left between the sieve and its supporting-frame to allow the sieve free play lengthwise, sidewise, or bot-h, if desired. The sieve may slide upon ways b lformed in the frame, as shown in Figs. 2 and 5, or any other suitable means for the purpose. C is a box with drawer for receiving material sifted. D are bearings supportingamotionplate and the shaft therefor; E, bearings supporting main shaft; F, part of frame to which bearings are fastened. G is the main frame of the machine. Kis the driving-Wheel. M are inotionplates or crank-disks carrying the arms B', forming a part of frame B containing the sieve. O are geared miter-wheels giving motion to the plates M. Xis the main shaft of the machine. As the shaft X is revolved by motion imparted through driving- Wheel K the initer-wheels O are revolved, giving motion to the plates or crank-disks M, upon which are pivoted the arms B of frame B,giv ing thereto a rotary motion, carrying there with the frame B and the sieve A, and as the sieve is loosely placed within the frame B it will strike againstthe sides ofthe frame, giving sufficient jar to shake down or out of the meshes of its gauze bottom any particles ot' material likely to lodge within them, so that it becomes impossible for them to become clogged, and thereby inoperative. Any number of these frames with sieves may be arranged in a series-one above another-within asuitable casing. if sieves of considerable length are used, theft-ame may be braced and strengthcned by cross-pieces at intervals or iron rods beneath the sieve, and for very heavy frames 'rollers may be employed beneath to run upon the ways provided in any suitable manner. The frame in such instances would be moved lengthwise, forward, and backward only, and the end pieces, B, may be hinged or pivoted to the frame to admit of such motion.
That l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
The herein-described sifting-machine comprising the vertical shafts geared to revolve together, the crank-disks M M, the frame B, having the arms B', and the sieve A, loosely held in said frame, so as to have motion in all directions, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
JOHN V. BECKER.
