This invention relates to stationery and more particularly to stationery and greeting cards which may be reused.
it is a primary object of the present invention to provide a stationery set which will cut the cost for the average persons investment in greeting cards to cover holidays, birthdays, special occasions and short informal messages.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a stationery set which will be of such material as to be washable without disintegrating and which will employ a washable fluid ink.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a stationery set which will permit stamps afiixed to them to be easily washed off by the receiver of the stationery, thus allowing messages to be written on them in the washable liquid.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a stationery set bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation and use.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a plan view of one of the greeting cards comprising the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a cross sectional view taken along the lines 2-2 of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a rear view of one of the envelopes shown in elevation;
FIGURE 4 is a fragmentary front view of FIGURE 3; and
FIGURE 5 is a perspective view of a sheet of writing paper for use with the envelope shown in FIGURE 3.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a greeting card made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a rectangular core 12 encased by a suitable transparent plastic 14 which may be written upon with a pen containing washable fluid.
The writing surfaces of plastic 14 may have a tooth to it to accommodate various scribing devices.
3,189,254 Fatented June 15, 1965 An envelope 16 of conventional configuration is mailable by placing stamp 18 on it in the conventional manner, and the lettering 20 Will be inscribed as heretofore mentioned. The writing paper 22 is made of a suitable flexible plastic material having the same aforementioned tooth to its surface to accommodate various scribing devices and is washable to provide reuse.
In use, card 1d, envelope ldand writing paper 22 are, written upon with a pen containing washable fluid or by means of a grease type pencil or other scribe and may be reused by simply washing the surface thereof. The envelope 16 may be reused by removing by washing the fluid, and the stamp 1% is removed by water as well, whereupon a new stamp 18 may be afiixed thereto and the envelope 16 may be mailed again.
It will be noted that various forms of envelope and other media may be of various shapes and forms and will be washable to thus allow reuse.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
What 1 claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
In a stationery and greeting card combination, the combination of a core, a transparent plastic case encasing said core, a washable plastic envelope, and a washable plastic sheet of writing material, the outer side of said envelope and the outer side of said sheet having a tooth of suitable nature to receive a washable opaque liquid of various colors, said liquid adhering to the surfaces of said envelope and said sheet, said case being adhered to said core, said core comprising a card, said case providing waterproof protection for said card on both sides References Cited by the Examiner UNITED STATES PATENTS 2,497,064 2/50 Baynes 22992 2,528,765 11/50 Lindberg 22968 2,556,825 6/51 Smith 3566 2,728,515 12/55 Haire u 229-71 FRANKLIN T.
