Description

1 May 25, 1965 J. FARRELL 3,185,394
ATTACHMENT FOR GARMENTS Filed May 24, 1963 (/0/7 Far/e INVENTOR.
BYMQQZT ATTORNEY Filed May 24, 1963, Ser, No. 283,106 2 Claims. (Cl. 239 36) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a garment attachment.
It is an object of this invention to provide a means for attachment to a garment 1 container having a pleasing aroma such as a perfume or cologne.
Most perfumes or colognes presently iniuse are applied to the skin where the aroma will not last for a very long period of time, particularly on warm days or while physically active. It is an object of this invention to provide a means for securing to a garment a device having perfume or cologne containing pads that will provide a pleasing aroma for long periods of time, butthat will not contact the skin of the user nor contaminate or stain the garment.
It is another object of the invention to provide a per fume or cologne carrying device that may be readily Patented May 25, 1965 (not shown) until ready for use. When it is desired to apply the device, the strip 4 is removed and the exposed adhesive employed to adhere the device to the material the strip may be readily detached and disposed of. In *use, the perfume or cologne containing sponge does not touch the skin of the user nor the material of the clothing of a garment. This may be accomplished by folding the respective ends of the device over the inside seam of a coat arm, adjacent the arm pits of the wearer, or an inside coat pocket, the side of a brassiere or the like, bringing the ends of the strip into juxta position.
When the odor of the perfume or cologne dissipates,
on which it is mounted.
mounted on a garment and easily detached and disthe adhesive protective strip partially removed.
FIGURE 2 is a top plan view. FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of mounted position, and i the device in FIGURE 4 is a cross sectional side view taken on the line 4-4 of FIGURE 2.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numerals 1, 1 designate a pair of absorbent pads, such as sponge, over which a cover pad 2,such as adhesive tape, is mounted, leaving the side walls of the cover open,
exposing the sponge 1, 1. The pad 2 may befformed by a continuous strip of adhesive tape, shaped to conform to the shape of the pads 1, 1 at each end, and shaped to be doubled back over the pads 1, '1 at eachv end, and shaped to leave the side walls of the pads 1, 1 exposed and terminating to leave the exposed adhesive material 3.
A cover strip 4 may be employed to cover the exposed adhesive until it is desired to mount the device.
A suitable perfume or cologne is applied to the pads 1,
While the foregoing is considered a preferred form of the invention, it is by way of illustration only, the broad principle of the invention being defined by the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. In an attachment for garments, a strip of adhesive tape having a pair of enlarged portions adjacent each end,
absorbent pads inclosed by said enlarged portions, the
. sidewalls of said inclosures being open, and one side face of said tape between saidpads having an adhesive exposable to the material of a garment when said pads are moved into juxtaposition. V 2. In an attachment for'g'arments, a strip of tape having an adhesive surface, said strip having a pair of enlarged portions adjacent each end, an absorbent pad mounted on the innermost of each enlarged portion, and the outermost enlarged portion folded over said pad to sandwich said pad between said enlarged portions of each pair respectively, said strip terminating at a point between said pairs of enlarged portions leaving an area of exposed adhesive for mounting said strip on a garment, a strip of covering material removably mounted on said exposed adhesive.
