(Cl. 2-145) The present invention pertains to neckties, generally; and, more particularly, to a new and improved necktie arrangement.

One object of the invention is to provide a necktie that is neither distorted nor deformed by shrinkage; nor subject to being worn out by daily or continuous use.

Another object of this invention is to provide a necktie employing much less fabric than is used in the conventional necktie; the necktie of the present invention being especially suited for mass production at low cost.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a necktie that can be loosened or tightened without disfiguring its knot.

Still further object of this invention is to provide a necktie that will have a novel appearance that, heretofore, has not been able to be realized with conventional neckties.

In view of the aforesaid objects and other objects that are stated hereinafter, the arrangement of each part of the subject necktie is described in the following specification and stated in the accompanying claim hereof.

In the accompanying drawing illustrating the necktie according to one embodiment of the present invention: FIG. 1 shows a front view of the necktie, untied; FIG. 2 ShOWs the front view of the necktie, as tied; FIG. 3 shows the rear view of the tied necktie of FIG. 2; FIG. 4 shows a front view of the tied necktie wherein the cord thereof is utilized as a decorative accessory of the necktie; and, FIG. 5 shows a front view of the necktie with a necktie clip attached to the cord.

Describing in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, the broader half part 1 of the necktie is made in the same way and has the same shape as the conventional necktie. A cord 2 is substituted for the narrower half part of the conventional necktie. The cross-section of the cord 2 may be either round, as shown, or flat. One end of the cord 2 is sewn to the upper end of the broader half part 1 of the necktie in an appropriate manner. At the other end of the cord 2 a decorative holder 3 (FIG. 3) or a necktie clip 4 (FIG. 5) is attached. As shown in FIG. 3, the cord 2, corresponding to the narrower half part of a conventional necktie, is folded and tied together to define the form of the outer edges of the knot 5 and the upper end of the broader half part 1 of the necktie is tied around having the cord as the core of the knot as is usual with the conventional necktie.

The cord 2 may be made to serve as a decorative accessory, as shown in FIG. 4, by having it wound over the broader half part 1 of the necktie and the holder 3 having its end inserted into a button hole 6 of the shirt. When the necktie clip 4 is provided, it may be used as shown in FIG. 5. Although not illustrated in the drawing, a tie tuck may be attached freely play able to the cord 2.

In conventional neckties, only a definite portion of the necktie is always formed into a knot. As a result in that portion the tie is distorted. Thus, the tie is not suitable for daily, nor constant, use. In addition, there is the disadvantage that the necktie will wear out in a short duration of use and not be usable. in tieing a conventional necktie, only both edges of the narrower half part thereof are necessary for forming the outer shape of the knot and this part is not necessary to provide the width of the ordinary type of the necktie.

The cord 2 serves the function of the narrower half part of the necktie; the broader half part 1 of the necktie being tied to the cord as in the conventional method. Thus, the objects mentioned hereinbefore are achieved.

While a specific embodiment of the invention has been shown and described in detail to illustrate the application of the inventive principles, it will be understood that the invention may be embodied otherwise without departing from such principles.

What is desired to be protected by Letters Patent as a novel invention is:

A necktie comprising: an elongated relatively wide portion; a cord having a free end and another end, said other end of said cord being fastened to an end of said wide portion; and a tie clip attached to said free end of said cord, said tie clip being adapted for holding said wide portion and a shirt flap together.
