The present invention relates to a paint brush wrapper. More particularly, the invention relates to a wrapper for the bristles of a paint brush which covers said bristles and holds and supports the paint brush.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved paint brush wrapper.
An object of the present invention is to provide a paint brush wrapper which covers and protects the bristles of a brush.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a paint brush Wrapper which covers and protects the bristles of a brush and holds and supports the brush at the same time.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a paint brush wrapper which is facilely and efiectively applied to a brush and which is facilely and effectively removed from the brush.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a paint brush warpper which covers and pro tects the bristles of brushes of different sizes and shapes and holds and supports a brush at the same time that it protects its bristles.
In order that the present invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: FIG. 1 is a front view of an embodiment of the paint brush wrapper of the present invention;
FlG. 2 is a front view of the embodiment of FIG. 1 applied to a paint brush;
FIG. 3 is a side sectioned view of the paint brush wrapper and paint brush of FIG. 2 taken along the lines III-III of FIG. 2;
FIG. 4 is a front view of another embodiment of the paint brush wrapper of the present invention; and 7 FIG. 5 is a front view of the embodiment of FIG. 4 applied to a paintbrush.
In the figures the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.
In FIGS. 1,2 and 3 an enevlope 11 has two sides 12 and 13. The envelope 11 is preferably of plastic material and in a preferred embodiment of the invention is of clear plastic material. The envelope 11 is of substantially rectangular configuration and has four edges 14, 1 5, 16 and 17. The sides 12 and 13 of the envelope 11 are therefore of substantially rectangular configuration and are joined to each other along their edges 14, 15, 1 6 and 17 to form the envelope.
The edges 14 and 16 are opposite and substantially parallel to each other and the edges 15 and 17 are opposite and substantially parallel to each other. The edges 14 and 15, the edges 15 and 16, the edges 16 and 17 and the edges17 and 14 are at substantially right angles to each other.
A first opening 18 is formed in the envelope 11 along a first one of the edges, such as, for example, the edge 14. The first opening 18 extends along substantially the entire length of the edge 14 and is therefore of sufiicient length to admit the bristles 19 of a brush having bristles 19 and a handle 20, the bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of the handle. The brush may of course be any type of brush, such as, for example, a paint brush, a paste brush, a pastry brush, although it is referred to as a paint brush.
A second opening 21 is formed in the envelope 11 along a second one of the edges, such as, for example, the
embodiment of FIG. 1.

The length of the second opening 21 is merely suflicient to admit the handle 2t? of the brush and is too short to permit passageof the bristles 19 of the brush therethroug h.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the second opening 21 is formed along the edge 15 which is at substantially right angles to the edge 14 along which the first opening 18 is formed.
A flap 22 is integrally formed with the envelope 11 and extends from the side 13 thereof along the edge 14 and is adapted to fold along the edge 14 to close the first opening 18. A snap fastener is utilized to secure the flap 22 to the side 12 of the envelope 11 in its closed position, although any suitable fastening means may be utilized. The fastener comprises a first part 23 aflixed to the flap 22 and a second part 24 affixed to the side 12 of the envelope 11. The first and second'parts 23 and 24 of the fastener cooperate with each other when pressed together to hold the flap closed over the first opening 11$. 7
An aperture 25 is formed through the sides 12 and 13 of the envelope 11 in proximity with: the edge 17 in the embodiment of FIG. 1. The aperture 25 may have a seam or lip 26 provided around it and joining the sides 12 and 13 of the envelope to each other. The aperture 25 permits the brush wrapper of the present invention to be hung on an elongated object, such as a nail, and supported thereby.
The envelope 11 may be formed of a single sheet of plastic material folded together along its edges, or it jmay be formed of two sheets of plastic material joined together along their edges. In either case, the flap 22 extends from and is integrally formed with a sheet of plastic ma terial. Even if the envelope 11 is formed of a single sheet of material, it may be seamed along its edges in order to maintain its shape and to strengthen it.
The brush wrapper of FIG. 1 is used by opening the flap 22 so that the first opening 13 is unobstructed. The brush is then inserted into the envelope 11 through the first opening 18, handle first. The handle 20* of the brush is passed through the first opening 18;, through the envelope 11 and through the second opening'21 to the outside of said envelope. After the handle 20 of the brush extends through the second opening 21 to the outside of the envelope 11, the bristles 19 of the brush have passed through the first opening 18 and are enclosed by 'said envelope. The flap 22 is then closed over the first opening 18 and-fastened to the 'side 12 of the envelope 11, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. The envelope 11, with the brush in it, may then be hung on a convenient nail or peg or the sort so that the brush is supported and heldat the same time that its bristles are protected.
Any size or shape of brush may be protected by the brush Wrapper of the present invention as long as the second opening 21 is long enough to admit the handle of the brush and too short to permit the bristles of the brush to pass through it.
To remove the brush from the wrapper, it is necessary merely to open the fastener 23, 24, open the flap 22, and pass the brush through the first opening 18, bristles first.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal. direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of plastic material having two sides and a plurality of edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of saidedges adapted-to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrallytformed in said envelope along a second one of saidedges and smaller than said brushwidth and adapted to admit the handle of said brush; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with an edge of said e vele eoppw site said second edge of said envelope and at a point lieyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and snap fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the .first part of said fastening means being atfixed to said flap: and the second 7 part of said fastening means being affixed' to the second one of the sides of said envelopehfi 3. A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and'bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of plastic material of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges at substantially right angles to said first one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted to admit the handle of said brush; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with an edge of said envelope opposite said second edge of said envelope and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and snap fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being affixed to said fiap and the second part of said fastening means being affixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a rst opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges opposite and substantially parallel to said first one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted to admit the handle of said brush; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with an edge of said envelope opposite said second edge of said envelope and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and snap fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being affixed to said flap and the second part of said fastening means being affixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges at substantially right angles to said first one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted to admit the handle of said brush; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an apert re formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with a third one of said edges of said envelope opposite and substantially parallel to said second one of said edges of said envelope in spaced relation to said flap and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for 6 supportingly hanging said envelope; and fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being aflixed to said flap and the second part of said fastening means being a'fiixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of substantially. rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of 'said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges opposite and substantially parallel to said first one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted 'to admit the handle of said brush; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope and through said flap in proximity with said first one of said edges of said envelope and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being a'lfixed to said flap and the second part of said fastening means being afiixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of clear plastic material of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges extending along substantially the entire length of said first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted to admit the handle of said brush, said second opening extending for a fraction of the length of said first opening; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with an edge of said envelope opposite said second edge of said envelope and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and fastening means having first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being aflixed to said flap and the second part of said fastening means being aifixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapper for the bristles of a brush having a handle and bristles extending in the longitudinal direction of said handle, comprising an envelope of clear plastic material of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in said envelope along a first one of said edges extending along substantially the entire length of said first one of said edges adapted to admit the bristles of said brush and a second opening integrally formed in said envelope along a second one of said edges at substantially right angles to said first one of said edges and smaller than said brush width and adapted to admit the handle of said brush, said second opening extending for a fraction of the length of said first opening; a flap integrally formed with said envelope extending from a first one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through the sides of said envelope in proximity with an edge of said envelope opposite said second edge of said envelope and at a point beyond the extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and fastening means having first and second'cooperating parts, the first 1 partiof said 1 fastening means being affixed to saidiflapand the second part of said fastening means being aflixed to the, second one of the sides of said envelope.

A wrapperfor the bristles of a brush having a han-. dle andbristles extending in the longitudinal direction of b said handle, comprising an envelope of clear plastic material of substantially rectangular configuration having two sides and four edges, a first opening formed in the length of said first opening; ,a flap integrally formed 1 with said envelope extending from a first'one of the sides thereof along said first one of said edges and adapted to fold along said first one of said edges to close said first opening; an aperture formed through-the sides of 'said' envelope in proximity with an edge of said'envelope opposite'said, second edge of said envelope and at a point beyondthe extending bristles of said brush for supportingly hanging said envelope; and fastening means hav'ing first and second cooperating parts, the first part of said fastening means being afiixed to said flap and the second 7 part of said fasteningmeans being affixed to the second one of the sides of said envelope. 1

Claims (1)

1. A WRAPPER FOR THE BRISTLES OF A BRUSH HAVING A HANDLE AND BRISTLES EXTENDING IN THE LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION OF SAID HANDLE, COMPRISING AN ENVELOPE HAVING TWO SIDES AND A PLURALITY OF EDGES, A FIRST OPENING FORMED IN SAID ENVELOPE ALONG A FIRST ONE OF SAID EDGE ADAPTED TO ADMIT THE BRISTLES OF SAID BRUSH AND A SECOND OPENING INTERGRALLY FORMED IN SAID ENVELOPE ALONG A SECOND ONE OF SAID EDGES AND SMALLER THAN SAID BRUSH WIDTH AND ADPATED TO ADMIT THE HANDLE OF SAID BRUSH; A FLAP INTEGRALLY FORMED WITH SAID ENVELOPES EXTENDING FROM A FIRST ONE OF THE SIDES THEREOF ALONG SAID FIRST ONE OF SAID EDGES TO CLOSE SAID FIRST OPENING; AN APERTURE FORMED THROUGH THE SIDES OF SAID ENVELOPE IN PROXIMITY WITH AN EDGE OF SAID ENVELOPE OPPOSITE SAID SECOND EDGE OF SAID ENVELOPE AND A POINT BEYOND THE EXTENDING BRISTLES OF SAID BRUSH FOR SUPPORTINGLY HANGING SAID ENVELOPE; AND FASTENING MEANS HAVING FIRST AND SECOND COOPERATING PARTS, THE FIRST PART OF SAID FASTENING MEANS BEING AFFIXED TO SAID FLAP AND THE SECOND PART OF SAID FASTENING MEANS BEING AFFIXED TO THE SECOND ONE OF THE SIDES OF SAID ENVELOPE.
