WILLIAM JENSEN, OF VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA.
WINDOW-BLIND-SLAT HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 316,627, dated April 28, 1885.
Application filed August 22, 1884. (No model.)
To all w/wm it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM JENSEN, of Victoria, British Columbia, have invented a new and Improved Slat-Holder for Window- Blinds, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in that class of blind-stops in which a spring on the bottom crosspiece of the blind engages with the slat-rail; and the invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l isasectional elevation of a part of a window-blind, showing my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the stop.
A A represent the pivoted slats of a window-blind, and B represents the rod by which they are operated. To the cross-piece C of the window-blind is attached the blind-holder D. This is formed of a single piece of wire bent to form the upright spring portion or arm 01 and the horizontal spike portion d, that is adapted to be driven into the crosspiece C, as shown in Fig. 1, for securing the holder in place. At the angle formed by the parts (I d the holder D is by preference coiled, as shown at (P, to give sufficient elasticity to the arm (I, and this upper portion or arm, (2, has the series of notches e 6 formed in it to engage with the holding plate or stop E, secured into or otherwise secured to the rod B, and the upper end of the spring-arm d is by preference curved outward to form a ring, as shown atf, for convenience in withdrawing or springing outward the arm (1 away from the stop E, to permit the slats A to be opened or closed or set at any desired angle. The stop E is by preference formed with the U-Shaped head g, which holds and guides the rod B by the arm d and the screw-point g, which is adapted to be screwed into the rod B, as shown clearly in Fig. l.
Constructed in the manner described, to apply the device it is only necessary to drive the spike portion d into the cross-piece C, so that the arm d will stand in line with the rod B, and to screw the stop E into the rod B in the range of the notches 6, so that the arm (2 will engage with and press against the plate E, and thus lock the slats A at any desired position.
Having thus described my invention, Iclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a blind-stop, the holder 1), formed with the springarm (1, having a series of notches, e, the coil (i and with the spike d, in combinationwith the stop E, whereby, when the holder is applied to the lower part of the blind and the stop E to the slat-rail, the notches of the holder can engage with the stop to hold the slats in any desired position, substantially as herein shown and described.
WILLIAM JENSEN.
