Description

'(NO Model.)
N 12,88 I 0 3 6 29 Patented Feb 24 1885 linemen dramas harem rerun,
JULIUS M. NICKEL, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,886, dated February 2 Application filed August 9, 1884. (N0 model.)
T 0 all whom itmcty concern.-
Beit known that I. JULIUs M. NIoKEL, of Baltimore city, Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain- Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in which- Figure 1 is a view of a curtain with my improved fixture attached. -Fig. 2 is a view of the spring detached. Fig. 3 is a view of the stop, and Fig. 4 is a view of the roller.
Like letters mark the same parts in all the figures.
My invention relates to curtaiufixtures; and it consists in the improved construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, which will be first fully described, and afterward specifically pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings by letter, A is the frame of the window; B, the curtain; G, the roll; .D, the cord, and E the spring.
The roll 0 is pivoted in the ordinary brackets, d d, and is provided with the stop or ratchet device common to spring'roller curtains. The bracket (Z is hollowed out at (P, and has a notch. d, to alternately receive pawls d, pivoted at d, and prevented from moving too far by pins or stops (1".
Instead of putting a spring in the roller, I mount a reel, 0', at one end of it, and at e secure a cord, D, the lower end of which I fasten to a spring, E-inihis instane a rubber tube carrying at each end a ring, ti e ring eengaging the cord and the ring 6 e frame of the window.
The stop may be. released by drawing the curtain down, when the spring will unwind from the reel by the action of the spring, and thus turn the roll and wind up the curtain. The curtain may then be drawn down, thus winding up the cord, and whenever the curtain is stopped in either its upward or downward course it will be held by the ratchet device.
hat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination, with a curtain and a roller provided with a retaining-catch, of a reel on the roller, a cord attached to the reel,
and a spring connecting the cord to the window-frame, as set forth.
2. The combination of roller C, curtain A, stop device, cord D, and rubber tube E, as and for the purpose set forth.
3. The combination, with curtain A, of roll 0, reel 0, stop device, cord D, and rubber tube E, having rings 6 e, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
JULIUS M. NICKEL. Vitnesses:
S. BRASHEARS, BIAX STRAUS.
