SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.310,l76, dated January 6, 1885.

Application filed September 2, 1884.

Be it known that 1, DAVID BOYD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Damariscotta Mills, in the county of Lincoln and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Inr provement in Ice-Scrapers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to ice-scrapers; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims. 1

In the drawings, Figure l is a view in perspective of my improved icescraper. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the scraper in pa sit-ion for dumping its load, and Fig. 3 is a rear elevation.

Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A A designate the sled-runners, which are provided with metal shoes secured to their inner faces,as shown, and are connected by a bar, B, to which the thills C are at tached by a rod, D, passed through the thilleyes E. The sled-runners form the ends of the scraper, and are strengthened by bracerods F, extending from the under face of the connectingbar B to the inner faces of the runners A A. The body G of the scraper is of wood, and is hinged by angle-irons H to the upper rear portions of the runners A A. The front of the scraper, at its lower edge, is faced with metal I, in order to prolong its useful ness by preventing too rapid wear. Cleats J J are secured to the body G- of the scraper, near each end, and these cleats J J come just inside of the runners when the body of the vers K and K are reduced in size, and these (No model.)

reduced ends pass through holes M in the rear and K to operate the catch-levers N N, and

releases the books 0 from the studs I, and permits the scraper to turn over far enough to dump the load of snow, after which the operator rights the scraper and proceeds as before, a handle, V, being provided for righting the scraper.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

l. The combinatiomwith the connected runners having metal shoes secured to their inner faces, and keeper-studs P, projecting from their outer faces, of the scraper hinged to the runners by angle-irons provided with pivoted catch-levers N N, theslotted levers fulcrumed to the back of the scraper, and the wooden connecting-bar connected to the inner ends of the slotted levers by bolts and nuts, substantially as specified.

2. The combination, with the connected runners having thills coupled to the connecting-bar, of the scraper, having the face-plate I, theangleirons pivoted to the runners and secured to the scraper, the pivoted catchlevers, and the pivoted slotted levers, and the wooden connecting-bar, substantially as specified.
