Be it known that I, HENRY MASON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and use ful Improvement in Pencil-Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of devices designed to be attached to some convenient part of the clothing in order to securely hold a pencil when the saineis not being used; and it consists of a piece of elastic sheet metal bent into the form shown in Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings,which figure is a front view of my improved pencil-clasp. Fig. 2 is a view in cross-section of the same on the plane of the dotted line 0 0. Fig. 3 is a side view of my improved pencil-clasp, showing the pin by means of which it is attached to the clothing.
The device is made of one piece or strip of spring sheet metal entire, with the exception of the pin which secures it to the clothing. The side wings, a a, are turned up and rolled (No model.)
' into the form of a partial cylinder whose diameter is slightly smaller than that of a leadpencil, and as the device is composed ofelastic or spring metal, when a pencil is inserted in said cylindrical or curved side-wing portion of the device it is gently but securely clasped and retained in place.
