An object of the present invention is to provide a bottle holder which lends itself to ready attachment to and detachment from a rung of a baby crib.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a bottle holder which is capable of being suspended from a rung of a baby crib and which, when so suspended, is capable of supporting a nursing bottle in a position for feeding by a baby occupant of the crib.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a bottle holder which is simple in structure, commercially feasible, and highly efficient in action.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of the bottle holder of the present invention suspended from a rung of a baby crib with a nursing bottle supported in the holder;
FIGURE 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 22 of FIGURE 2 of the clamp of the holder in folded and attached condition;
FIGURE 3 is a plan view of one face of the clamp of FIGURE 2 after such clamp has been shifted to an unfolded condition;
FIGURE 4 is an elevational view taken along the line 44 of FIGURE 3;
FIGURE 5 is a plan view of the opposite face of the unfolded clamp of FIGURE 4; and
FIGURE 6 is a perspective fragmentary view of one end of the hanger illustrating the interengaging means on the one end thereof.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 10 designates generally the bottle holder of the present invention, and as shown in FIGURE 1, the holder is attached to a rung 12 of a baby crib 14, the holder supporting a nursing bottle 16 in a position for feeding by a baby occupant of the crib 14.
The holder 18 comprises a hanger 2d, a clamp 22, interengaging means on one end 21 of the hanger 26 and the clamp 22 for releasably securing the hanger to the clamp, and a sleeve 24 having a neck 26 projecting from one end thereof disposed so as to extend longitudinally along the hanger 2% with the neck 26 remote from the other end 23 of the hanger and the other end of the sleeve adjacent the other end 23 of the hanger, the sleeve 24 being fixedly supported from the part of the hanger adjacent the other end thereof. The sleeve is adapted to receive and support the nursing bottle 16 with the nipple end 28 projecting beyond the neck 26 of the sleeve 24 when the nursing bottle 16 has been fully inserted through the other end of the sleeve.
The hanger 2% is an elongated bar which has a straight portion extending inwardly from the one end 21 to a point spaced from and adjacent the one end 21 and designated by the numeral 27, and a bend portion 29 extending inwardly from the other end 23 and merging into the point 27. It is to be noted that the sleeve 24 is fixedly supported from the part of the bend portion 29 adjacent the other end 23 of the hanger 29.
The clamp 22 comprises an elongated blank 30, FIG- URES 3 to 5, which is foldable upon itself to form opposed plate members 32 and 34, FIGURE 2, one of the plate members or plate member 32 having an extension 33 which is foldable to a position perpendicular with respect to the plate member 32, as shown in FIGURE 2, the other of the plate members or plate member 34 being provided with a male element 35 which is insertable into and withdrawable from one of a plurality of spaced female means 36 provided on the extension 33 when the extension has been folded to the perpendicular position. Specifically, the male element 35 takes the form of a plurality of tongues 38 and the female means 36 takes the form of at least two rows 39 and 40 of spaced apertures formed in the extension 33.
lnterengaging means for releasably securing the hanger 29 to the clamp 22 comprises, FIGURES 1 and 6, a pair of headed pins 41 and a bearing pin 42 projecting from a disc 43 which extends over and is fixedly attached to the one end 21 of the straight portion 25 of the hanger 20, the headed pins 41 being received in arcuate slots 44 formed in the plate member 32 of the clamp 22, as clearly shown in FIGURES 3 and 5. It is to be noted that each of the slots 44 has an enlarged portion at one end which is of a size to freely receive the head of the pin while the remainder of the slot is of a size to only freely receive the shank of the pin. The plate member 32 is provided, FIG- URES 2 and 3, with stop means or abutment pins 45 located adjacent the slots 42 for preventing rotation of the headed pins 41 in the wrong direction, and is also pro vided with a bearing opening 46 for the reception of the bearing pin 42.
In use of the folder of the present invention, the clamp 26 is folded upon itself so that the plate members 32 and 34 are in confronting face spaced relation, the plate members then being positioned so that the rung 14 is wholly therebetween, and while the clamp is so held the extension 33 is bent to the perpendicular position and the tongues 38 are slipped into the apertures of one of the rows 39 or it The hanger 26 carrying the sleeve 24 is then disposed so that the bearing 42 is received in the bearing opening 46 in the plate member 3-2 and the heads of the headed pins 41 are inserted through the enlarged portions of the slots 44, and the hanger rotated until the shanks of the headed pins 41 abut against the ends of the slots opposite the enlarged portions. A nursing bottle 16 is then inserted into the sleeve 24 through the other end thereof until the nipple end of the bottle projects beyond the neck 26 and the neck of the bottle rests against the neck 26 of the sleeve. To disassemble the holder the nursing bottle 16 is withdrawn from the sleeve 24 out of the other end, the hanger 20 turned until the heads of the headed pins 41 are withdrawn from the enlarged portions of the slots 44 and the pins 41 and bearing pin 42 are withdrawn from the slots 44 and the bearing opening 46 respectively. The clamp 22 is then disconnected from the rung 12, withdrawing the tongues 33 from the respective row 38 or 40 of the openings, and the plate members 32 and 34 moved away from each other.
