It is an object of the present invention to provide a convenient tray for storing a plurality of pies in a vertlcally stacked position in a safe and neat manner.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a pie rackof the above type having a framework within which a plurality of trays can be removably supported for selectively supporting a stack of pies or a single large cake therewithin.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a pie rack bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and eflicient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following de tailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:

FIGURE 1 is a longitudinal cross sectional view of a pie rack made in accordance with the present invention; and

FIGURE 2 is a transverse cross sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIGURE 1.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a pie rack made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a substantially rigid base 12 having three upstanding posts 14 carried by a mounting plate 24 having depending legs 25 supported upon the upper surface of the base 12.

These posts 14 are provided with slots or cutouts 22 for removably receiving radially outwardly extending pins 20 carried by individual trays 16 which are removably supported in vertically spaced apart relationship within the framework of the upstanding posts 14. Thus, any one or more of the trays 16 can be installed Within the framework for supporting one or more pies in a vertically stacked position. On the other hand, all of the trays 16 can be conveniently removed whereby a large cake may be supported upon the mounting plate 24.

The entire unit is enclosed within a substantially hollow cylindrical closure 26 having a knob 28. If desired, this closure 26 can be constructed of transparent material, thus providing means for observing the contents of the assembly.

All of the elements of the present invention are easily cleaned, Washed, and stored, and provide a wide variety of different sizes for all types of cakes and pastries.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.

What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:

l. A pie rack comprising in combination a base, a frame supported upon said base, a plurality of trays removably supported in vertically spaced apart relationship upon said frame, a closure cover removably supported upon said base in enclosing relationship with said frame and trays, said base comprising a substantially circular rigid member, a mounting plate having depending legs supported upon said base member and supporting said frame thereabove, said frame comprising three vertically upstanding posts carried by said mounting plate, each one of said posts defining a plurality of vertically spaced apart indents, each of said trays including a plurality of detents releasably engageable within said indents of said posts and all of said vertically upstanding posts being in spaced apart relationship within a onehalf circular arc.

2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said closure cover comprises a substantially hollow cylindrical member having a lift knob at one upper end for completely enclosing said frame and trays, and said closure cover being transparent for observing the contents of said rack.
