UNITED STATES PATENT FFICEQ,
HENRY H. SCHNEIDER, OF PORT CLINTON, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO WILLIAM HASSELBAOH, OF SANDUSKY, OHIO.
FASTENING DEVICE FOR TIDIES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 303,234, dated August 5, 1884.
Application filed June 23, 1884.
skilled in the art to which it appertains to' make and use the same, reference being, had
- to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a'chair provided with my improved tidy-fastener. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the back of the chair, and Fig. 3 is a perspective detail view of the fastener removed from the chair.-
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
My invention has relation to devices for fastening tidiesnpon the backs of chairs; and it consists in the improved wirespring clamp or holder, which will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, A denotes the back of a chair, and B the tidy. The holder consists of a piece of any suitable wire, bent to form the curved back 0, the ends of which are bent upwardly, as shown at D D, and bent to form the spring-coils E. The free ends of the coils E form the clampingjaws F, the lower ends of which are bent to form theloops or eyes G.
(No model.)
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, the operation of my improved tidy-holder will readily be understood without requiring extended on planation. After the tidy is slipped over the back of the chair it is fastened by slipping the holder over it, as shown in the drawings, the
curved part 0 bearing against the back of the chair, while the clamping-jaws FF, with their loops G, bear against the front partof the chair, and securely clamp the tidy upon the same. The rounded loops G prevent thewire from catching into the fabric of the tidy, which may be readily removed at any time simply by first removing the holder.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States The hereindescribed device for clamping or holding tidies upon chair-backs, the same consisting of the wire holder constructed in one piece, and bent or shaped to form the curved back part, 0, upward-projecting sides D D, spring-coils E E, and downwardprojecting jaws F F, bent'to form the loops or eyes G at their lower ends, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY I-I. SCHNEIDER.
