2 A/ETT/E 0. SMITH ATTORNEY 3,025,121 Patented Mar. 13, 1962 3,025,121 PAPER HANGERS TABLE AND PASTE CONTAINER Nettie 0. Smith, 853 Parkwood Ave., Youngstown, Ohio Filed Nov. 12, 1959, Ser. No. 852,240 1 Claim. (Cl. 312-228) This invention relates to a combination table and paste container and more particularly to a portable device mounted on collapsible legs which may be used by a paper hanger.
The principal object of the invention is the provision of a combination table and container arranged so that the table portion drains into the container portion.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a combination table and paste container comprising a portable device having means forming a worktable surface and a liquid container adjacent thereto.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a combination table and paste container wherein a 2 separate container having a table-like flange on one end is supported in a structure including folding supporting legs.
A still further object of this invention is a provision of a combination table and paste container including means for storing dry paste, brushes, paper hangers tools and the like.
The combination table and past container disclosed herein comprises an improvement in the art relating to devices used in connection with the pasting of wall paper in that a structure is provided that supports and elevates a paste container which has an adjacent table surface arranged so that it drains into the container. The device includes a drain hose facilitating the removal of paste or other liquids from the container and includes a shelf proving storage space for a paper hangers tools.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed it being the intention to cover all changes and modifications of the example of the invention herein chosen for purposes of the disclosure, which do not constitute departures from the spirit and scope of the invention.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a top plan view of the combination table and paste container.
FIGURE 2 is a side elevation of the device with parts broken away and parts in cross section and taken on line 2-2 of FIGURE 1.
By referring to the drawings and FIGURES 1 and 2, it will be seen that a container comprising a bottom oppositely disposed side walls 11 and 12 and end walls 13 and 14 is arranged with a table-like substantially horizontal surface 15 extending endwise from the end wall 14 thereof. The table surface 15 has shallow drain grooves 16 and is inclined slightly from its outermost edge which defines a rim 17 to its innermost edge which joins the upper edge of the end wall 14.
The supporting structure includes a rectangular member 18 having an upright end member 19 and a partition 20 spaced with respect thereto and which partition 20 together with sides 21 and 22 supports a top member 23. The top member 23 underlies the table surface 15 while the partition 20 is positioned immediately adjacent the end wall 14 heretofore referred to. The rectangular member 18 forms a shelf extending between the sides 21 and 22 of the supporting structure and the area thus formed may therefore be used for storing dry paste, brushes, and other paper hangers tools. The four corners of the rectangular member 18 are provided with depending brackets 24 to 0 which legs 25 are pivoted. Caster wheels 26 are positioned on the opposite ends of the legs 25 and each of the legs 25 is also pivotally connected to one end of a pair of hinged arms 27. The hinged arms 27 are also pivoted to the rectangular member 18 and are so arranged that they hold the legs 25 in vertical position and permit the legs to be folded upwardly when the pivoted arms 27 are moved on their hinges relative to one another. The container heretofore referred to as having the bottom 10 and the side and end walls 11, 12, 13 and 14 is preferably preformed of aluminum as is the table surface 15 thereof and it will be observed that the uppermost edge of the container forms a raised rim completely around the container and which rim extends across both ends of the table surface 15. An opening 28 is formed in the container end wall 13 and extends through the end member 19. A fitting 29 positioned therein communicates with a flexible hose 30 the opposite end of which is provided with a hook 31 which registers over the upper edge of the container and supports the hose in elevated relation thereto.
It will thus be seen that a combination table and paste container has been disclosed which provides both a table surface and an adjacent paste container so that a paper hanger may use the paste container for liquid wallpaper paste and use the table surface 15 for positioning the pasting brush and/ or the other tools used in applying the paste to the wallpaper. The formation of the table surface 15 with the shallow drain grooves 16 will drain excess liquids back into the paste container and facilitate keeping the paste applying brush in proper condition. The over-all height of the table and paste container is substantially the same as a card table which compares generally in height with a paper hangers pasting table or board on which the paper to be pasted is positioned, pasted and trimmed.
The present invention eliminates the use of paste containers such as pails or buckets and provides a convenient table high paste container and table surface for holding the pasting brushes. Additionally, the shelf space therein provides a convenient area for other paper hanger tools. It will thus be seen that the combination table and paste container disclosed herein meets the several objects of the invention and it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that the device may be used in washing walls, windows, or other objects and articles and that in each instance it provides a convenient liquid container and an I adjacent drained table surface.
Having thus disclosed my invention what I claim is:
A combination table and container including a supporting structure in the form of a horizontally disposed rectangular member, said structure having oppositely disposed vertical side walls, a vertical end wall and vertical partition of less height than said side walls positioned on the said rectangular member, said partition being positioned inwardly from one end of said rectangular mem- References Cited in the file of this patent structure having an opening therein, a drain fitting posi- 10 2,248,871
