(Cl. 46-1) This invention relates to an amusement device particularly adapted for small children, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide a sanitary supply of small toys, pacifiers, and the like always handy to the child, together with means for supporting the same on a playpen, crib, highchair, or other article of infants furniture.

Other objects of the invention include the provision of a merry-go-round type of device conveniently mounted on a new and improved bracket and having a novel mast arrangement so that the device may be mounted in such a Way as to extend over the head of the child when sitting in a chair or the like, or on the other hand, the mast may be dismounted and the merry-go-round supported by a part only thereof on the tray of the highchair or in some similar position.

The objects of the invention also include the provision of a merry-go-round device having animated figures thereon which can be easily actuated by the child, said figures being normally held in a more or less out-of-the-way position by means which includes the provision of another toy, and at the same time there is means provided for moving the figure on the merrygo-round to an upright position where it is visible to the child.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear hereinafter.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a view of a highchair illustrating a form of the invention applied thereto;

FIG. 2 is a view in elevation showing the device applied as for instance to the tray of a highchair;

FIG. 3 is a sectional view on an enlarged scale illustrating the animated figures;

FIG. 4 is a view in elevation of the new and improved bracket; and

FIG. 5 is a front view thereof, looking in the direction of arrow 5 in FIG. 4.

The main basis of the present invention resides in a disc or the like which may be conveniently made of wood, plastic, or any desirable or convenient material, the same being adapted to be mounted to rotate in the form of a merry-go-round or the like in either directly mounted position as on the mast 12 or suspended as shown in FIG. 1.

The disc 10 is radially slotted inwardly from the edge thereof at certain desired locations about the periphery. One of these slots is indicated by the reference numeral 14 in FIG. 3. Adjacent the outer end of the slot there is provided a cross pin or the like 16 which extends through a figure, toy or other device 18 so that the device 18 may be pivoted between the vertical position of FIG. 3 and the horizontal positions as shown in solid lines in FIGS. 1 and 2. The pin 16 is located adjacent an end of the device and outboard of the pin 16 there is provided a cord 20 which is preferably of elastic and can be attached to the figure 18 by any desired means. The cord 20 depends from the figure and as shown in FIG. 3 being applied to the shorter end of member 18 can be used to move the same to the vertical position in FIG. 3 and hold the same in such position. Cord 2% is provided with a toy 22 for use as a handle. This toy may take any form desired.

Although the Weight of the toy 28 at the end of cord 24 may in most cases pull the figure 13 down to its nested position in slot 314, i.e., in the horizontal position, nevertheless it can be used to jerk the figure downwardly if desired, thus increasing the enjoyment of the child with respect to the use of this amusement device. There may of course be as many slots 14 and figures 18 as is desired or conven ient about the periphery of the turntable it The mast 312 may be used to directly support the disc it by means of the shoulder or the like at 3t} and the mast 12 may be mounted in a socket 32 on a U-shaped clamp 34 which may be provided with clamping means 36 for securing the same in position on a member of a playpen, crib, highchair, or the like. An auxiliary socket 38 may also be utilized located on the U-shaped clamp member 34 so that the clamp may be positioned on a rail either under or over the same and the mast 12 may then also be used as in socket 38 rather than socket 352.

On the other hand if desired, a detachable socket member such as that at 40 may be applied to the top end of mast 17; and a relatively U-shaped member 42 may be applied to and supported by this socket, the U-shaped member then being attached to the merry-go-round and disc 10 in the same Way that mast 12 is detached but in an upside-down relationship so that the disc 10 is sus pended before the child in a chair as is indicated in FIG. 1.

It will be seen that this invention provides a sanitary arrayof toys, lolly-pops, exercising devices, acifiers, etc. which are always within the reach of the child. The child may play in many difierent ways with the device by rotating the turntable Ill, pulling the toys and stretching the

20 and 24, and by jerking the figures l8 up-and-down as above explained. The toys, etc. are always attached to the device and cannot be thrown upon the floor, and the child obviously will amuse himself for a much longer period of time than would be the case were the toys present but capable of being thrown upon the floor, etc., and the amusement value of the movable members 18 will be clearly apparent as well as the usage of the universal bracket clamp which is provided by the invention.

Having thus described my invention and the advantages thereof, I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed, otherwise than as set forth in the claim, but What I claim is:

A childs amusement device comprising a rotatable disc, means to support the same, radial slots extending inwardly from the periphery of the disc, a movable figure pivotally mounted in each slot, means for moving the figure to an upright position at an angle with respect to the disc, and means moving the figure downwardly into its slot, said first-named moving means including a cord attached to said figure at one side of the pivot axis thereof, and a childs toy secured to the cord and operative as a handle, said second-named moving means including a second cord secured to said figure at a point at the other side of said pivot axis, said second cord extending down through a separate aperture in said disc, said aperture being located radially inwardly with respect to said radial slot and in alignment therewith.
