DiE FOR SHAPING THE STANDARD-HEADS OF PLOWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 301,212, dated July l, 1884.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THURE (L RLsoN, a citizen of the United States. residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented acertain new and useful Improvement in Dies for Shaping the Standard-Heads or Caps of Flows and \Velding the Same to the Standard of the Plow at One Operation, all of which more fully appears in the following specification. i
To accomplish the result above indicated 1 have a pair of dies with the faces sloping, say, at an angle of thirty degrees, instead of flat or horizontal, with an elbow near the bottom of the face, as shown in Figure 1, A C be ing the bottom and B the top die, ribbed at D. The bottom die has a sink, 0 O, in its face to receive the cap or head, as shown in Fig. 5. The upper one third of the face of the lower die is formed by the pentagonalshaped block 0, sunk into the body of the die. This block G is loose; but owing toits peculiar shape, in connection with the elevations N N and the depressions YY in the receptac1e,in which it rests when in position, it is movable in only one directionupward. In the front of lower die is an opening or slot, X, the width of the standard, which extends from the top to the bottom of the lower die, and from the bottom upward and backward in a line perpendicular to the axis of the face of the die. \Vhen the block 0 is in position, the walls of the sink 0 O are rigid and the slot X is closed at its upper part, leaving an opening in the bottom and center of the sink 0 O the size of the standard.
