Description

(N6 Model.)
H. N. HUBBARD. UPPER PLATE 00F GOPYING- PRESSES.
Patented May 27, 1884.
INVENTOR WITNESSES ATTORNEYS.
HENRY N. HUBBARD,
OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
UPPER PLATE OF COPYlNG-PRESSES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 299,223, dated May 27, 1884.
Application filed September 5,1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY N. HUBBARD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Upper Plates of Copying-Presses, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved letter-copying press in which the water-bowl is handy and in a convenient position on the top of the upper plate of the press, and in which the central bosssocket for the screw of the press is strengthened by being formed on the outer face of the inner side of the water-receptacle, the upper plate of the press, the water-receptacle, and the boss-socket being all cast in one piece.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved copying-press. Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross-sectional elevation of the press-plate of the same and the water cup or dish on the press-plate.
On the press-plate A of a letter-copying press, B, of the usual construction, a waterreceptacle, bowl, cup, or dish, 0, is formed, which is cast integral with the plate A. The water vessel, cup, or receptacle 0 on the upper face of the top plate, A, is arranged at the middle of the length of the plate A, and has its outer side flush with oneof the longitudinal edges of said plate A, the water-box 0 extending nearly to the middle longitudinal line of the plate A, and. the inner longitudinal side of the water-receptacle G has a central boss-socket, E, formed on its outer face for the screw of the copyingpress, thereby strengthening the bosssocket. The upper plate, A, of the press, the water-receptacle G, and the central boss-socket, E, are integral with each other. The cup is provided with a rod, D, for wiping the surplus water from the brush. In my improved press the water cup or dish is always at hand, and in a convenient position for using it, and cannot be misplaced or upset.
Having th us described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improved article of manufacture, the upper movable plate, A, of a copying-press, provided with the water-receptacle O on its upper face, arranged at the middle of the length of the plate A, and having its outer side flush with one of the longitudinal edges of said plate, the inner longitudinal side of said water-receptacle G having a central bosssocket, E, formed on it, and the upper plate,
A, water-receptacle, and boss-socket being in-' tegral with each other, as set forth, whereby the socket is strengthened by the inner side of the water-receptacle, as specified.
