Definitions

  • said second lever including an upper bent extension engaging a point of the first lever near the pivotal point thereof, a screw adjustably screwed into the lower end of the second lever, engaging the upper part of the perforation in coaxial registry with the stationary pin, said screw being shifted transiently by a small amplitude under the action of the dropping of a coin of a predetermined rim thickness, said shifting producing through the upper extension of said second lever a shifting of a larger amplitude and in the opposite direction of the first lever and of its hook, said screw being released at the end of the passage of the rim in front of it and the associated pin and screw allowing the free passage of coins thinner than normal between them.

Description

May 2, 1961 T. DIETRICH DEVICE FOR CHECKING THE-COINING'OF coms Filed April 3, 1958 1 FF n 8 971 65 f 7 4 ;4 H if? z i/ 217 mm [N ENTER: 7*fladore. prETK/c i .49,/m/- W geometrical projection of said second point;on the. perfo rated wall lying between the projections'of 'th'e'firstmentioned stationarypoint on said perforated wall and the perforation in the latter, said second lever including an upper bent extension engaging a point of the first lever near the pivotal point thereof, a screw adjustably screwed into the lower end of the second lever, engaging the upper part of the perforation in coaxial registry with the stationary pin, said screw being shifted transiently by a small amplitude under the action of the dropping of a coin of a predetermined rim thickness, said shifting producing through the upper extension of said second lever a shifting of a larger amplitude and in the opposite direction of the first lever and of its hook, said screw being released at the end of the passage of the rim in front of it and the associated pin and screw allowing the free passage of coins thinner than normal between them.
3. A device sensitive to a reduction in the height of rim of coins inserted in automatic distribution machines,
comprising two parallel walls defining between them a downwardlysloping channel for the insertion of the coins and of which one is provided with a short longitudinal perforation registering with the path of the coins dropping 'throughthe channel, a-stationary pin carried by the other wall and facing the upper portion of the perforation in the first-mentioned wall, a first lever pivotally'secured to a first pivot and adapted to oscillate in 'a plane inclined slightly with reference to the vertical and passing through a first stationary point outside the perforated wall above the perforation on the side of said wall facing away from the channel, said lever terminating with a hook registering With the lower part of the perforation, a second lever pivotally secured to a second horizontal pivot and adapted to oscillate in a vertical plane parallel with the walls and passing through a second stationary point outside the perforated wall on the side of said wall facing away from the channel, the geometrical projection of said second point on the perforated wall lying between the projection of the first stationary point on said perforated wall and the perforation in the latter, said second lever including an upper bent extension engaging a third point on the first lever near the first pivot, a screw set in the lower end of the second lever, engaging the upper part of the perforation in coaxial registry with the stationary pin, the dropping of a coin between the pin and the screw urging transiently the screw aside and thereby shifting the levers in opposite directions with an amplification of the movement of the first lever to transiently engage the hook underneath the coin, said engagement of the hook being released only upon release of the screw returning under the action of gravity towards its inoperative position upon registering of said screw with the main central thinner section of a coin of an acceptable type.
