To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, PAWEL BOCHENEK, a citizen of the United States, residin at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and r tate of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Change Handlers, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to a coin delivering device, and more particularly to the class of change handlers.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character wherein change will be automatically delivered into the hand of a person, thereby obviating the necessity of picking up the said change from a counter or other support,

- which requirestime and inconvenience to the person.

Another object of the invention is the prothe said device so that on manipulating a delivery funnel the shutter or disk will swing to a position for dropping the coin or coins within the funnel whereby the said coin or coins will fall directly into the hands of the manipulator of the device thereby enabling the quick handling of the change and insuring a convenient mode of receiving the same. A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple in construction, automatic in operation, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, and inexpensive in manufacture.

Other objects will be in part obvious and in part hereinafter pointed. out.

The'invention accordingly consists in the construction, combination of elements and arrangement of parts which will beexemplified in the construction hereinafter pointed out, and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the appended claims.

In the drawings :-Figure 1 is a top plan view of the device constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. ' horizontally disposed hollow body or casing 12, it being understood of course that the body or casing may be of any other desirable shape and made from any suitable material, having formed in its top a circular opening 13, while integral with and projecting from the inner faces of opposite sides of the said casing are bearings 14 and 15 respectively, which support the change handling mechanism hereinafter fully de scribed.

Swingingly connected to the bearing 14 is the extension or arm 16 of a change delivery funnel 17 having a discharge spout 18 through which change is delivered into the hand of a person after being deposited within the funnel 17, the arm 16 thereof being connected to the bearing 14 by means of a pivot 19 which is passed through the said arm and engaged in the bearing. Swingingly connected to the bearing 15 is a rocking lever 20 which is formed near opposite ends with elongated slots 21 and 22 respectively, the slot 21 being designed toreceive a pin or lug 23 mounted in the end of an extension 24 provided onthe funnel 17 while the slot 22 is designed to receive a pin or lug 25 mounted in and depending from a circular shaped shutter or disk 26 which is disposed directly beneath the top of the casing 12 and is adapted to normally close the opening 13 therein. The shutter or disk 26 is formed with opposed guides 27 which slidably fit upon spaced parallel guide rods 28 having their ends engaged in the casing 12 at opposite points thereof, the funnel 1'? being formed with a cut away portion 29 to permit the passage of the lever 20 during swinging movement thereof.

Integral with the rim or side wall of the casing 12 at opposite sides of and spaced from the bearing 15 are stop ears 30 which are arranged in the path of movement of one of the casing 12 and thus sustain the shutter or disk 26 in normal position for closing the opening 13 in the casing.

The top 33 of the casing 12 is detachably mounted thereon so that it can be removed to give access to the delivery mechanism of the device should the occasion require.

' In the operation of-the device the change or coins to be delivered to a person are placed on the shutter or disk 26, the opening 13in the casing 12 being provided for this purpose. Now, the person to receive the change places his or her hand upon the spout 18 of the funnel 17 with the palm'upward and covering the spout. On exerting a forward pull upon the funnel 17 the latter swings on the bearing 14:, and during this movement the shutter or disk26 swings rearwardly or in the reverse direction, causing the coins or change to be discharged into'the funnel 17, which delivers the said coins or change into the hand of the person, thereby obviating the necessity of picking up the change or coins from a counter or other support when the same are placed thereon as usual. It will be apparent that the device will automatically deliver the coins or change to a person in a single operation of the device. When the funnel 17 is released by the person the spring 32 acts thereon to move it to normal position, and during such movement the shutter or disk 26 is actuated for closing the opening 13 in the top of the casing 12 of the device so that the latter is set for repeating the operation thereof.

In Fig. 6 there is shown a slight modification of the cover plate or top wherein the same is constructed of a rectangular shaped portion 34: and a substantially semicircular shaped portion 35, said portion 34 being formed with an upstanding marginal flange 36 serving as a guard to prevent the dropping of coinstherefrom when placed upon the cover plate or top.

A change handling device comprising a base having spaced upstanding legs opposite each other, a horizontally disposed hollow body supported by the legsin superposed relation to the base and having a circular opening, bearings formed interiorly of the casing, an extension armswingingly pivoted toone of the bearings, a discharge funnel supported bythe arm, a'rocking lever pivoted to the other bearing and having elongated slots near opposite ends, a lug on the funnel and engageable in one'of theslots in I the lever, a shutter for normally closing the opening in the casing,a lug on theshutter andnengaged with the other slot in the lever, spaced parallel guide rods mounted in the casing at opposite sidesof its opening, guide members integral 7 with the shutter and slidably engaged on the rods, and a spring con- I nected with one end of the casing and to the discharge funnel. a
