SETH WHEELER, OF ALBANY, NEW YOBK'.
TOILET-PAPER FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 297,044, dated April 15, 1884.
Application filed April 16, 1883. (No model.)
1'0 all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, SETH WHEELER, of Albany, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toilet and rapping Paper Fixtures; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention consists in a new arrangement of the parts composing the fixture. The handle is inserted directly within the periphery of the round bar, and there held locked by any suitable means until it is necessary to add another roll of paper.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents my fixture partly in section, and Fig. 2 is a cross section through 3/ 3 of Fig. 1.
The handle has two notches, f f, made in its lower ends, running in the same longitudinal direction, and in line with each other. The ends are passed into vertical holes 9 g in the round bar or rod 1). A rod, h, is passed through a central longitudinal hole, 43, in the round bar or rod, such hole 13 bisecting the two vertical holes 9 g in such manner that this rod will, when the ends of the handle are inserted into the vertical holes 9 9, pass through the notches ff, and thus lock the handle and round bar or rod securely together.
j is a recess on the center of the round bar or rod, to better enable the fingers of ones hand to withdraw the rod h from the fixture when it is desired to unlock the parts for the insertion of another roll of paper. It will be seen that this arrangement of the handle and round bar or rod leaves a portion of the round bar or rod projecting from each side of the handle, which greatly strengthens as well as adds to the appearance of the fixture.
It is evident that the parts so arranged may be locked together by any suitable and convenient means.
I claim A toilet-paper fixture composed of a bar proyided with vertical and longitudinal slots near both ends and recessed between its ends, in combination with a bail-handle notched near both ends and entering the vertical slots from the periphery of the bar, and a transverse rod entering the longitudinal slots and the notches of the bail-handle, substantially as described.
SETH WHEELER.
